I am both a WDW nut and a DVC nut... DH is a DVC nut and could take or leave WDW.... he just loves the villas!

I wish my wife was more DVC crazy.....The girls have the men beat on this one so far.............

The DW in my family. I was born in California and we went to Disneyland, watched Mickey Mouse Club, basically grew up with the mouse. When we moved to NJ, not so many Disney fans but I kept my love for all things associated with Disney.

Hubby grew up in NJ and never left the state. He couldn't understand what I was talking about with regard to Disney World and just thought it was another amusement park (he was not crazy about rides). I would force him to watch Disney programs and try to explain what is so great about it but he just didn't get it.

When our first DS turned 2, hubby said to plan a trip to Disney. The kid and I were at the travel agency that morning. We got a room at the Contemporary for the first week in December. The trip was the best ever.

Just after we checked into the hotel we walked down to the marina and Mickey Mouse came up to us, all by himself. I started to cry and my husband said "This is the coolest place ever!!"

He was a teamster and worked too hard and too many hours and was usually exhausted but our times in Disney were times we all cherished. It warms my heart to think of him walking down Main Street singing "Zip A Dee Doo Dah".

Our last trip to WDW with him, he suggested we look into the DVC, I said no, it would be too expensive. That was our last family vacation, he passed away 4 years later. If only I had listened to him, we would have had so many more times together as a family enjoying Disney and everything else.

I bought my time share for my boys and myself and we go often. Love nothing more than planning our get-aways. The boys not quite as nuts as I am but they have potential.

I know I'll never replace my Louie but if and when the time comes, I know he'll send me a Disney nut to spend the rest of my life with.

:earsgirl: :earsboy: :earsboy:

I'm very sorry for your loss............

I'm glad that you had the chance and memories of Disney!!

Good luck.
Doug

Wow, this is a hard call.
Both LOVE DVC & WDW. but i'm the one who added on to our points and am always trying to figure out where i can squeeze in another trip. ThinK i've spread the bug to my mom last May when we took her for Mom's Day she fell hard. I actually had to increase the number of points i wanted so we can send her every October. Almost have my best friend addicted, soon, very soon...:smooth:
Only 40 days and 22 more hours to BW

Without a doubt, I am the DVC nut in the family when it comes to DISing! In fact, DH nicknamed me mouseclick because of all the time I spend here researching our next vacation! He will read my posts sometimes, but never posts himself. As far as our add-ons (3 of them), they have always been my idea!

DH, however, is the DVC ebay nut in the house. He is always on the lookout for cool DVC stuff on ebay, and has come across some pretty good finds!

So...I guess we're both nuts, in our own unique ways!

Me: "Hi, my name is Arny"

Everyone: "Hi Arny"

Me: "I'm here to say that....well..."

Speaker: "It's okay, go ahead"

Me: "Okay...um....well, I'm here to say that I'm a Disney Nut"

Everyone: "YEAH!!!"

Me: "They really like me!"

Sorry, just felt like we were all at a meeting or something. :)

Some of the comments on this thread were so interesting that I had to throw in mine as well. I'm a certifiable Disney nut! Oh, it's official. Has been for about 25 years now. So, what happens when an adolescent Disney nut becomes an adult Disney nut? Well, he/she takes the next step. The next step for me was Disney Vacation Club.

I started doing a lot of research into the possibilities of joining DVC in May of 2003. All the while, my 'magically-impaired' wife was as skeptical as always. By the way, she is also 'economically wise' (I call it being cheap!) which didn't make it any easier. But, I got my information together in preperation for my 'presentation' to my wife (like some of you haven't done this!) and all went smoother than I thought.

Although, when it came down to purchasing the actual contract, I did get some last minute 'push back' from her, but all went as planned in the grand scheme of things. At any rate, we joined in with a small contract (75 point OKW w/all points banked from previous year) and went on our 1st official trip 'home' about 3 months after closing on the deal. She loved it! But, she wouldn't completely admit to it! :)

Now, we are ready to get rollin' in about a month to our 2nd official trip 'home' and a funny thing is starting to happen. She is getting more and more 'into it' when planning the trips out. Just yesterday, at a friend's birthday party, she mentioned something very interesting as we were speaking with folks. She said "you know, you should get into the Disney Vacation Club like we did". AHA! I got her! (insert mad-scientist laugh here) MWAHAHAHA! Oh, sorry. :p

Okay, I'm rambled long enough. All I know is that I'm the official Disney Nut in the house right now....but, my wife is starting to get a little twinge of nutiness working as we speak! :teeth:
