Hello,Wanting to go Dec 2005 But Virgins pricing this year is 36 percent more than we paid to travel last year!!
Has anyone any recommendations who to go with?
Im looking for cheap but good packages
Please can anyone help?
Thanks IAN

Ian - check out my thread on Funway - we've just got a good deal with them for next August:sunny:

Ian, I tried getting a quote from Funway for Dec. 2005. Basically I was told that they couldn't let me have a quote this far in advance. I have tried several other companies as well, including TCD, and I've been given the same info! It seems that the only place that I can get a quote is with Virgin!

We have booked with Travel City Direct through recommendation from friends and from people on these boards.

We did price up everyone including Virgin but to give you an idea our holiday was over 3000.00 cheaper with TCD than Virgin.

First Choice came in at 1600.00 dearer than TCD but still cheaper than Virgin. Kuoni also priced us up and although cheaper than Virgin were still way above TCD.

Direct Holidays also came recommended to us and last week my son and his girlfiend booked 2 weeks in explorers maingate kissimmee including breaky and all transfers for £360.00 each. Flying from Gatwick on 28th Aug. on a mytravel flight.

Hi Jeanette,

Here's the website: http://www.funwayholidays.co.uk/ which has all the contact details on. I've found Bon Voyage to be extremely competitive for a fly drive price - slightly better than Funway (who were much cheaper than Virgin et al!)

Cheers

Karen

I have just booked for Dec 05 with Funway. They have got all their flight prices loaded. The lady I spoke to was very helpful and gave me a good price on flights, her name is Jacqui. We got a price of £328 per adult, £224 for a child, £100 for E4 car for 25 nights and £72 for the accomadation(3 nights). Since I was taking the accomadation I didn't need to take the insurance.

Their phone number is 0870 22 00 627

DisneyBB, if you don't mind me asking, when in Dec. '05 are you going on your trip? I phoned Funway, to get a quote for Dec. '05 (leaving on the 30th) and I was told it was too early to make a booking, and try around 11 months before we want to leave!

They are direct flights with VA. Leaving on the 11th Dec returning the 6th Jan. When I initially phoned they said that they had all the flights apart from the return flight. I got the initial quote on the 6th Aug. By the time I phoned up on Monday they had the Jan allocation on the system. I was given an allocation seat, they get 12 a day with Virgin on the 11:15 flight. They get them ahead of other tour operators. Ask to speak to Jacqui she was really helpful. They allow you to book the cheapest accommdation, in fact this is called throw away accommadation. You don't have to use it. I intend to use mine as I happen to need a few nights between Christmas and NYE. I faxed the booking form off on the 13th and paid the deposit over the phone. No credit card charge, so paid with my Natwest for the car insurance. Don't let them put you off, insist that you have heard of someone getting these flights. Tell them can you have a quote from their allocation and ask to speak to someone else if they still draw a blank.

Thanks DisneyBB for the information. I will try phoning them again. Hopefully this time I will be able to get it booked! :hyper:

We tried Funway again and it seems that you can book from LONDON but not Manchester so we will have wait!!!!!!!!!!!! The north /south divide rears its ugly head again!!!!

Thanks for the input guys,Funway sounds great Mra Dazzle/Catherine Funway sound a good bet but Do you not agree thier site is Cruddy!!
I agree Poet From up here its a long hike to London (Im another 100 miles to you!!) Last time tho we did Twilight check in with Virgin which was amazing!!

Im a mixed up cookie now!! After spending too long trying to cope with Funways site I finally get a price, after a few attempts mind with diff dates
So I go to Virgins website within mins I get a price and its cheaper!! It appears theyve slashed their car insurance prices and having travelled twice with them I know how great they are, ill keep comparing but at the mo Virgins getting my booking!!

Hi Ian (did you used to be Ian5555 or something like that)?

IMHO you cannot match Virgin for quality of service - after all it is a holiday and not worth messing up for the sake of a few quid. When you get Twilight Check-in, DTD Check-in and all the other extras it's well worthwhile, Premium Economy upgrade is fantastic as well.

Best wishes

Lol

Hi Lol How you doing??
Yes its me How did you guess?! It was 5150 which is the US Police code for Mental Asylum escapees! Now Ive gone back undercover as in James Bond...
I agree with you stick with Virgin whats the point of trying to save some cash which could only equate to a meal!!!
Cheers Mate IAN
