Who's been here the longest?

I stumbled onto this site in August of 1999, and registered to post the same month. Since then I have been "lurking about", but have not posted that frequently. I hope to change that now. I admire all of those folks that have thousands of posts attached to their name! Way to go!! I always notice when people register, and wondered who may still be active, who has been here the longest? I have noticed a few 8/99's. Any older than that out there? One day maybe I too, will be a "DIS Veteran", instead of a "Welcomed Guest"!

Having been registered since 99 they should probably just give you an honarary DIS Veteran. I beleive it will automatically change after 50 posts (I think that is the number).

Thanks for the info!
You'd think I'd have figured out how all this works, having been here so long! I thought Tinkerbell visited during the night, and conferred "Veteran" status on the privileged few. The great unwashed masses (like myself), were just doomed to stand by and die of envy!

I feel dumb admitting this, but I don't even know how to add all those cool things that you all have. Maybe they weren't offered when I registered(?)
I'm not computer savvy enough to figure this out on my own, unfortunately.
Maybe one day, I'll be in your "Cool Club"!!

You won't find any dates older than August 1999... that's when you first had to register to this site to post. Before then, you just posted and put in any name you wanted. Some names were lost in a crash a couple months after the new registration started (I didn't realize I lost mine for a short while as I lurked and didn't post much back then).

You can change your own "tag" now to say whatever you want... if you click on the "User CP" link and then off to "Edit Profile" at this point since you have been here so long you can go to where it says "Custom User Text" and put in whatever you like.

Otherwise, you'll have to wait until you get 75 posts to get the "DIS Veteran" status. And I think you are right... I don't believe a lot of the options we have now were available at the time.

Oh I just remembered, you might see a date or two before August 1999, but those were altered by the same group that adds color to those text tags you see here and there.

I will change my profile, now that I know how to.

Now, I just have to figure out who/what a "Tag Fairy" is (LOL)!

BarbR-Atlanta - WARNING!!! Whatever you do, DON't ask the tag fairy for a tag. She (or maybe He - I don't know) does not like to be asked for or begged for a tag. If you visit the Community Board here, you'll see alot of what NOT to do to get the Tag Fairy to notice you. Good Luck. Oh, and start posting & you'll be a DIS Vet in no time at all.

BarbR-Atlanta.... Hey, I am glad the tag fairy was nice and gave you a tag of Honarary DIS Veteran like I suggested. The tag fairy is the person who mysteriously changes the tags into something that you say or has been said about you and makes it a nice color. I am not sure how I became Cinderellas Twin Sister? Someone once asked me if I put that there? I told them, I wouldn't be so vain as to compare myself to Cinderella, she is beautiful. If I put my own tag in, it would be something like "Has Tinks Attitude" (Oh and it would be in pink).

Anyway, I think once you hit that magic number, like 50 or 75 posts, you can change the tag yourself, but you can't make it colorful and you can only have one line (at least that is how it use to be, don't know if it has changed or not) The only one who can me it colorful and have several lines is the Tag Fairy.

You can change it in your User CP like others have suggested.

8/99 is an illusionary date. It was a default for people who's accounts were migrated over from one of the other board systems we used to use.
I have to agree with the people that say Pete was number 1

I lost my fist DIS name (bubie2) when I had problems with my email account, I don't know for how long I've been here, but this place has change a lot since then.

I am quite a lot like you Barb.

I've been here at least 5 years - long before I ever registered to be able to post.

I've only had a few posts - very few given how long I've actually been registered.

In fact, this makes three posts in the last 5 days... a personal record.

I have a feeling I will be posting more for a while. I have the bug to go back to WDW really bad, but it will be at least 6 months until I get there - gotta get a fix anyway possible until then.

I go a few weeks without posting, then post for awhile, then lurk again. Kinda depends on what's being discussed, I guess. Overall, I've been lurking here for two or three years with several different names.

Now if I'd just hit the lottery, move to Florida and drive a boat for Disney, I could settle in and post more often!
