WHOA?! OKW "near HH" ONLY for CRO right now?!

Hmmmmmmmmmm...Now, I'm starting to wonder. Although OKW is not our home resort I reserveed a one bdrm near HH right at 7 mos and was told it would only be noted as a request and just like someone else posted here, I also got a "modified" letter right before our trip. I called MS as well and noone could tell my why I received this letter when I had never called back to make any changes after my initial call....Needless to say, we didnt get our request near HH. I think we ended up in bldg #46.

Hey, but at least building 46 is one of the best views in the whole resort! We were in building 46 over THanksgiving too. My only complaint was that we didn't get soaps and shampoo replaced on either of our T&T and cleaning days.

I think the semantics of the comments from the MS CM might be the issue in this thread. When the CM said "only CRO can book that", I suspect they meant they don't have the ability to reserve that just yet. I think since folks are getting modified reservation letters, it IS being taken care of, just in a different way. Hopefully this will all work out in the future once they get used to the new booking catagory. I fully expect to see this catagory require more points in the future. Frankly, I think the near HH catagory is overrated. Sure, it's nice to just walk across the street, but there are plenty of other buildings well within the easy walking distance of HH where you can do the same thing. Unless you are handicapped, I see no reason to even request "near HH". There is nowhere within OKW that you can't easily and quickly get to HH by taking the next available bus. In fact, while we have enjoyed staying near HH several times, we actually prefer the Southpoint area, which is farthest from HH!

How about the Miller's Road area? That looks pretty close to HH. Do you know which buildings are included in the HH request catgory?

I am not sure but my first stay at OKW a couple of years ago I requested to be near HH. At check-in, the CM commented that they were able to accomodate my request and I was assigned a building on Miller's Road (bldg 18???? if I recall correctly). It was fine with us as it was a very easy walk to the main pool. But, at least to that CM, Miller's Road qualifies as near HH.

It has been reported on another website that DVC is indeed now booking guarnateed HH house reservations. I think the buildings are 11-14 plus 23-26. I see no mention of 62-64, but I think those are mostly reserved for handicapped accessible or those NEEDING an elevator. I frankly think buildings 15 and 16 should be included in that as well, since they certainly are easy walking distance to HH. Even when we have stayed in buildings 18 and 20 we have felt we had options of doing HH easily.

I completely agree. When we travel just DW and I we prefer to stay in the Southpoint area as well...more specifically in villa 5621 whenever it's available. On the other hand when travelling with a larger party and when needing a grand villa, the HH really works best for our needs. Parking in the HH area is often a problem though. A possible improvement would be to build a foot bridge over the Trumbo Canal from Peninsular Road near building 28 and 29 to the feature pool area. I believe doing so would make the buildings on Peninsular Road more attractive while relieving some of the parking issues at HH. Doing so may even add buildings 27 through 29 to the "HH" booking category.
