My parents are at HS for the day today (wasting time after just getting off a cruise) and I told them to hit Starring Rolls. They texted me a photo of the peanut butter cupcake and said they were too full to eat one... :scared1: Seriously, who says no to heaven in a cupcake?! I'm sure they have to-go containers.....

Did they buy a sandwich there too? or did they just buy the cupcake and decide not to eat it? LOL!

I got the butterfinger cupcake and to be honest, I thought it was good but not great. It was way too rich. I love sweets thou, so maybe it was just an off day for me? I dunno. But they are massive!

They didn't buy anything there at all!!! They ate lunch at Backlot and then just texted me a photo of the cupcakes to tease me while I'm stuck at work in NY... no where near a good cupcake shop... and no where near WDW!!!

They just texted me back, just because I was teasing them they went back and got one of the red velvet cheesecake cupcakes! They said it was amazing....

Personally, they kind of look gross. I hate red velvet and cream cheese frosting unless of course, I make it! :rotfl2: If you bought it already, though, this frugal hoosier says it's a little wasteful! :hippie: Might as well try it!

Yum!

My DH would probably not want a cupcake. He's not big on icing and really only likes my cake. I don't blame him, but I'm going to have to overrule him and get at least 1 cupcake to share on our trip. They all look so good!

I would. WAY too much frosting for me. Even if someone gave it to me, I could only eat aout 1/4 and that would be wasteful especially since this trip I wouldn't have anyone to share with. I would rather spend my calories on other items.

I would pass cupcakes also. I'm not crazy about sweets. I know lots of people on board have raving reviews about sweets/desserts but I'm just not into them. :confused3 I could hardly finish a cupcake sharing one with my DS. However, since so many people have rave review of Disney cupcake, I might buy a couple coming trip since it's going to be a big group so we don't need to worry about a wasted food. ;)

The only reason anyone in our family had to say no to a Starring Rolls cupcake was food allergy concerns. All of the cupcakes have some nut exposure so DD5 couldn't have any of their cupcakes. :sad1:

:thumbsup2 This! It's half icing which I don't like - except a very small amount. They make them look huge because they pile on so much of it IMO. To each his own - give me a MSB cinnamon roll any day - yummy!

I've tried so many of the WDW cupcakes and they are all - bad! I don't know why they get rave reviews :confused3

One of the last things on this earth I would eat is a cupcake BUT THAT PEANUT BUTTER CUPCAKE ROCKS MY WORLD!!:woohoo: The others are just ok.:3dglasses

I wanted to love these cupcakes so badly but thought they were the most overrated snack at WDW. I do plan on giving them another try on our next trip!

I could DEFINITELY say no to the Starring Rolls chocolate peanut butter cupcake! It was totally sickening, IMO!

Now, I would say a big "yes" to the cupcakes from Contempo Cafe...especially the one with strawberries inside. Yum!

I think the cupcake phenomenen is over-hyped. DW had a cupcake on our last WDW trip and thought "meh." We tried some cupcakes at a gourmet cupcake place here in our hometown, and frankly they looked great, but were just ok as far as taste goes. I think it's a marketing thing that they look so good, and frankly if they are a couple of days old, how do you know? (until you taste them?) The ones at WDW sure do look good though.:earsboy:

I'm definitely part of the current cupcake craze. That said, WDW's cupcakes have never truly won me over. Many of them look good (fewer actually taste good), but they're all way too big. The frosting sometimes is lardy to me, and the cake is more like regular yellow/chocolate cake than a light cupcake.

My favorite Disney cupcake was the orange cream one at Boardwalk Bakery, but I couldn't even eat half of it.

For that reason, I'm looking forward to trying babycakes on my next trip. Their cupcakes sound better to me than Disney's. :goodvibes

I love sweets, but I'm not a big fan of Starring Rolls cupcakes. They are just OK. I think they are too sweet, and that's saying a lot coming from me because I'm usually the sweeter and richer the better. To me they taste just a little better than the cupcakes I can get at the local Food City.

I am craving some sweets. I could tear UP a Starring Rolls red velvet cheesecake cupcake right about now. :rotfl2:

I made a special trip to Contempo on my last visit with dreams of that strawberry cupcake in my head. They weren't selling that one that month, I was devastated! :headache: Got the Black Forest instead, and it was pretty good. DH got a carmel one, he's not into sweets and he loved that one! My life goal is now to try one of those strawberry ones. Starring Rolls was closed the day we were at HS last, so I'm still dying to try the peanut butter one too!
