Who would like to see a Grand Floridian DVC Resort

Werner - I have to agree with your reasoning but it sure is nice to dream! Annmarie

I do not get why every single discussion board slams the Grand Floridian. This hotel is the most beautiful and most upscale resort at WDW and all of Orlando as well. How can people seriously compare this place to the Polynesian and Contempary and think that it is not as good. The Poly and the Contemp are fun and everything but they are no where near the league of the Grand Floridian.I guess alot of the reason is that most of the people who write on these boards have kids and the Floridian is not as kid friendly as the others. When I bring friends along with me to WDW they all agree that the Floridian is number 1, and although the Poly and Contemp are fun they all laugh about how 1970's these two places are. I guess some people think that places like the Grand Floridian are just a little too nice for themselves.
Brando, this is your opinion, and you are entitled to it. Personally, you could not pay me to stay at The GF, as I simply don't care for the theming. My wife and I go there every trip for dinner at Narcoosee's (sp?) or Citrico's, so I am familiar with the resort. We do not have kids, but we absolutely love The Poly, and have stayed there many times (see sig). We enjoy the resorts with theming that is a touch more 'adventurous', such as VWL/WL, AKL, and The Poly. To be quite frank, although The GF is a beautiful resort, the theme flat out bores me to death.....But, everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

I agree, Maistre Gracey. Elegant, but boring.

I think the GF is beautiful & would love to see a DVC resort there. Personally, I think "if you build it they will come". There is definitely a demand for DVC and everyone likes different things, so I believe that any that are built will appeal to someone out there.

I would stay there if the opportunity arose! :p

And................ having one Discovery Island is a nice thought, huh? That would be the ultimate. :)

How about a monorail extension loop that goes to or around WLV parking area. It coulb done near Timberline Drive, and we would have our monorail resort!

There was also a rumor about light rail trains being considered for transportation, those might be as nice as a monorail connection. The busses are fine and offer lots of flexibility, but something more fun for DVC resort transportation might be nice. Although WLV has the nice advantage of being able to hop on a boat to the MK. Doubt we'll see major transportation upgrades like that now given the hotel discounts they are offering. I'd probably prefer to see additions to the parks anyway.

Its very interesting to read all the posts. My wife and I love the GF and always enjoy visiting but have never stayed. If there was a DVC club we would enjoy staying in the Christmas season.

Of course this is all a matter of personal preferences!
The Polynesian is relaxing, tropical and informal. We would feel ourselves unwind as soon as we walked into the Great
Ceremonial House. That's what we like in a vacation!

The GF seems much more formal, and frankly the color schemes present a very cold atmosphere that says "look elegant, but don't sit down or relax". Again just our personal preferences.

We'd love to see a Polynesian DVC, but with Eagle Pines and saratoga Springs, we have to join others in agreeing that this is highly unlikely.

Before we became DVC members we were Poly people, so we would really enjoy a DVC resort there. Being on the monorail route would be nice for a DVC resort. We'll just have to wait and see what they come up with in the future.
