I have to say Bush this time around.

What I think is interesting is that many Bush supporters openly admit that he did not perform well in the first debate

Democrats seem unwilling to admit Kerry lost this debate. In the last debate they complained that Bush was hesitant and not strong in his convictions - yet tonight they are complaining that he was too angry and forceful

I guess this is why they support Kerry - with him you can have it both ways!

Were we watching the same debate? Well, I did watch it with several thousand friends in St Louis at America's Center at the Kerry Rally plus I shook Mr. Kerry's hand as he entered the hall to a winner's welcome after the debate!

I'm curious why you thought Mr. Bush won that debate? He said the same old stale things, repeated some veratim from the first debate. Why do you think he won? Because he didn't smirk and scowl so much this time? He didn't say anything new, he didn't impress me at all. I'm truly not being disrespectful of him and I'm not pretending something I don't really believe. Is the bar so low for him that because he didn't make a huge gaffe that you feel he won?

BTW, if you see any of the coverage of the rally I'm sitting with the Veterans for Kerry. There were lots of them there!::yes::

Everyone has an opinion- Mine is that I feel Yes- GW did an outstanding job-and yes he did a better job than Kerry. He was a lot more comfortable than Kerry-maybe your bias has blinded you to this. Sitting with Veterans -Heaven only knows how they can support him- probably didn't help your prospective either. I'm a veteran and so is my spouse-who is still active and vows that if Kerry -who could never be commander in chief-were to ever achieve this that no longer would he be able to serve-for fear of his and his fellow soldiers life! Have you really researched the background of this man or are you just standing the party line? Scary Kerry is to be feared-He will never be able to protect us when the time comes!!!! BUSH-CHENEY 2004!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You know there were lots of answers I wanted to hear to Charlie's questions but none more than Bush's forceful answer to the question about the draft. I know Kerry quietly agreed but not with enough force to make me comfortable. Knowing how much Kerry "flip flops" I do not trust him on that OR anything else he would say. Coming from Mass, I know just how non existant his HELP for the middle class has been. I do not know how anyone can take him seriously. I would sooner vote for Michael Jackson for president than Kerry. What is even more scary, is Kerry's running mate. Jeeze couldn't he have chosen someone who did not have the personality of lawyer"Jackie Chiles" on Seinfeild? What if the "Flip Flopper" wins and then breaks his neck one day windsurfing and we get stuck with the ambulence chaser? THAT, is an even more scary thought!

Kerry supporters sometimes remind me of the story of the "Emperor's New Clothes", I think they see but will not acknowledge what they see. I just do not get it. It will be interesting to see if Kerry wins his home state.

I must admit that Bush did much better this time around--with that being said, though I think it was close, I believe Kerry won again.

I did find it amusing that toward the beginning, Bush sat there with a small, fixed smile as Kerry was speaking and even made the comment at one point, "I didn't scowl at Mr. Kerry's answer this time." It was obvious that after the last debate, he had been advised to stop with the dirty looks.

Now, did I hear him wrong, or did refer to Kerry as "Mr. Kennedy" at one point? I'm not a debater and I'm not trying to start an argument and perhaps I misheard him (I was getting the house ready for a wedding shower while watching) but I thought it was while he was talking about Kerry being "the most liberal Democrat in the Senate." So maybe he was talking about Teddy. Did anybody else hear that?

I was dozing but I heard it and just thought I was not paying attention. Actually, their politics are the same so it was an easy mistake on Bush's part. Kerry always wanted to be call the next "JFK" so I doubt he would make a big deal out of it.

Are there any true winners of these debates? In that, I mean is there an official score keeper? POINT for Kerry, POINT for Bush?

I just think it is ridiculous that Bush supporter insist he won and Kerry supporters gaffaw that and insist Kerry one.

What good is that? I want to know who really won, based on how a real debate is scored, not based on popular opinion.

I think you can give John Kerry the edge. After all, He Has A Plan ?

I think were watching history in the making. John Kerry may actually win all 3 debate's and Lose the election.

Bush!!! He did so much better this round. I think the President is not good at getting what he has to say across. He knows what he is talking about but it doesn't come out as easy. Kerry has somewhat of an advantage. He can second guess every move Bush has made. He can say I will create more jobs,I'll make healthcare more affordable, No child will be left behind. That sounds great but the real question is will he really be able to do what he says? Looking at his record in Senate it just doesn't seem like it. Bush did a good job of pointing that out. Kerry also kept saying "I have a plan", "I have a plan". I want to say your plan is to get elected. Then wait and see what we can do,nothing!! My husband and I have a small buisness, that is what his plan is to tax all of us small buisness owners. I don't believe one word that guy says! His running mate is know better. Also after reading a book on Kerry and the short time he served in Vietnam that scares me even more with whats going on in the world today. I think Kerry wants to be popular and liked more than anything. Bush dosen't care who likes him or who dosen't. He has shown America is his first Priority. I want a leader who will be tough when he has to be. Bush has shown that. Remember, this is my opinion!

I thought it was much closer this time but I still give the edge to Kerry because at times Bush seemed agitated and over the top. I also thought he seemed silly at times. It seems the independent polls have it close with a slight Kerry edge. That's how I feel too. I thought Bush blew whatever chance he had for a win when he still wouldn't admit that it might have been a mistake to go into Iraq based on "faulty intelligence". I think he and his administration seem to be the last people in the world that think it's okay to keep changing the reasons we had to go to war.

It would seem that the pundits are giving it to Kerry, not that their opinion matters. Personally I thought Bush did much better than the last time. But better than terrible is not necessarily good enough. I thought he looked very bad when he broke the rules and spoke over the moderator....that showed him to be someone who believes himself to be above the rules. He may be the president, but in this forum he and Kerry should have behaved like equals. The president did not deserve the special treatment he claimed. And taking it forcefully made him look very bad.

Kerry is a good public speaker, but does that mean he'll be able to run a country during very turbulent times?

Bush may not be the most gramatically correct guy around, but he does get his point across - that matters to me alot more than whether he conjugates all his verbs properly.

All in all - for speaking quality - OK, score one for JK. For substance gained through tough experience - give it to GWB.
