Jerry Goldsmith, who scored the original Soarin, passed away several years ago which begs the question, "Who will follow-up that iconic score for the new film?"

My bet is on Michael Giacchino. He is Disney's "golden child" right now for musical endeavors. He has a long list of Disney/Pixar film/ride scores under his belt:
  • The Incredibles
  • Up
  • Ratatouille
  • Cars 2
  • Space Mountain and Space Mountain 2
  • Star Tours: The Adventure Continues
  • Tomorrowland
  • Shadowing John Williams on Star Wars: The Force Awakens
  • John Carter
  • Prep and Landing (all of them)
  • One Man Band
...and that is just some of the music he has composed for Disney.

I really like his work and hope he gets the nod from WDI.

But if Michael Giacchino did it, the ride would end with everyone dead, in a church, after being marooned on a mysterious island with homicidal maniacs and black smoke.

But Jack, it also means that there will be a bunch of these:

I have no objection to those. But if it means the final scene is

I will hold you personally responsible. :rolleyes2

I actually hope they don't change the score. Maybe have a new arrangement, but they should work from the original and credit Goldsmith accordingly. Actually, the music is such an important part of Soarin' I wish Goldsmith's name was in some way visible to guests.

I doubt that WDI will keep the music intact. They may quote the original theme, but a full rewrite must be in the works.

Got to agree. You really can't just put a new movie over an existing sound track.
