Who will bring us to the grocery store?

We will be a ASMo for two nights then going to renaissance at seaworld for two nights then back to wilderness lodge for 7 nights.
We will take ME to ASMo so won't need transportation once we are there. We will also not need Transportation for WL but were thinking of renting a car for the two nights that we will be at Renaissance.
then I thought how dumb that would be since we will have to pay for parking for no absolute reason. The ONLY thing we would need it for is to get to a grocery store.

What are our other options that will also take us to a grocery store?
I was thinking taking mears and asking if they will stop at a store?

is that possible?

Why not just use a delivery service like WeGoShop? We've used them twice before, and will use them again in November.

If you use Mears they may stop for you, or when you get to the REN take a cab to the Walmart (turkey lake road- behind resort across I-4) or the Publix right up the road.

Garden Grocer also delivers to the WDW resorts. You can use the order form on the web site and they will have everything sent over.

I am not sure if the Mears would stop. If there are other passengers, they might not be to happy about a delay and the drivers are on some form of schedule.

I would have the groceries delivered. I'm pretty sure that Mears will not make a grocery stop, but you could call and ask.

You could take a cab from Wilderness lodge to the grocery store, but it's going to cost more than grocery delivery.

There are town car services that offer a few grocery 30 min stop when they pick you up at the airport. I bet you could still do it your way, I'd call them.

Always read these threads with a little laugh inside.... how many guests looking for groceries or water or alcohol without the minimium order or delivery fee or cab fare to and back....

In my mind there has to be a guest staying at the sane resort, that has a car and is making a store run off property that you could flag down and get to help you out... or a bulletin board where you can post that you need groceries and is someone making the run. A shame that say, 50 people on any given day, from you resort is headed to the store, need like a grocery pool to get it all done for everyone.... Just seems strange to me but we get picked up at the Kissimmee train station by a car service and they grant us a 30 minute grocery stop which to us is a God send for sandwich makings, alcohol and soda plus other assorted snacks over Disney prices... Couldn't do Disney without a grocery stop...

Well, I'm relatively certain the OP wasn't looking for a freebie and is aware any method or service they use will have a cost attached. And it's one thing to ask someone you know is going to to be at your resort who's going shopping anyway and with whom you've been corresponding (see the past years' Pop Meets for examples) to pick up a couple of things for you, and another thing entirely to ask a stranger to do your vacation grocery shopping.

I would NEVER ask a stranger to lug groceries back to the resort for me! I am just asking the CHEAPEST possible way. I know if I call the resort they will just tell me the most convenient way for them. Just like last year when I called the front desk from the resort and asked the cheapest way to get from the resort (CBR) to seaworld and they told me MEARS. I told them I thought I heard a bus from DTD can bring us for cheap and they said there isn't a bus. Had I asked more specific questions on the Disboards, I would have learned that there is a lynx bus at the TTC for $2 one way not the $60 it took us to use MEARS.
That is why I am asking all of you the cheapest way to the grocery store. Unfortunatly we won't buy enough for the minimum delivery. I really just wanted to buy organic yogurt and cheese sticks, a few pieces of fruit so I don't have to use up snack credits for them, some organic crackers and bars and water and juice boxes.
I checked the prices out on one of the delivery sites and it doesn't equal $40.
I am starting to think I will just suck it up and have my daughter eat their yogurt and cheese sticks, pack crackers and bars and a few juice boxes in the luggage and as many bottled water as I can.
My daughter eats a lot of fruit throughout the day and I'd hate to see all of our snack credits go to one little piece of fruit when I can buy a bag of them for almost the same price.

Monica, Wegoshop.com has a slightly higher delivery charge - but no minimum order, and she will shop at the one store you request.

When you call anywhere WDW, including the resorts, you're actually getting a call center. Sadly, it's the worst place to turn to for accurate information.

Yep, and it would still be cheaper than a cab to the store.

Would you rent a car for just one day to do errands with? Including either the move from All Star Movies to Renaissance or the move from Renaissance to Wilderness Lodge?

The Lynx bus is totally unsatisfactory for bringing frozen food back to your resort since you will have to wait for it and also wait for the Disney bus you are transferring to.

Geeze what a board, posting a thought, not an answer or suggestion sure gets everyone on a tizzy.... Forgive my ignorance in posting a thought I've had many a time while in WDW.... People on this board sure have Gken zero tolerance for an opinion and not a suggestion
!

OP how are you planning to get from Disney to the Renaissance at seaworld and from renaissance at seaworld back to Disney?

Looks like you might be better off with a rental car. Plus you are only paying a parking fee for two nights yet you still need to get to a grocery store and get from point A to point B and then back to point A. Seems like a no brainer to get a rental car for those two days.

I agree with this!

You are very right Katie, yet I think Pepe has a great idea, too.

As a community, we help each other out with coupons, codes, ideas, and experiences. Sometimes, as Katie mentions, we even have meets. In that vein, makes sense we could have a sub-thread in each of the various 'click" communities on here (DIS Dads, DVC, resort forums, transportation groupies, budget boards, etc) for someone at WDW (or going soon) to see who also needs a ride to the grocery.

As Katie hints at, I likely wouldn't pickup something for anyone, in case a minor gets alcohol or there are allergies to the brands I like, but this may change if the list was short and I communicated with the fellow DISer beforehand. The best alternative would be to offer a ride, if I was rolling out anyway, as Pepe indicated.

So I just called mears transportation and they said that it would be $19 for the Mears shuttle from DTD. I then asked how much for round trip if we were to use them to get back to disney two days later. She put me on hold for a couple minutes and then said it would be $19 round trip. Does that sound right? And if so, how will they know that we already paid when trying to get back to disney?

Nobody said anything about using Lynx with any kind of groceries. It was mentioned only as an aside regarding the bad info that Disney hands out.

I'm pretty sure the $19 you have been quoted is the shuttle bus that runs between the Disney area and the US/IoA area. The problem is that they don't allow luggage on the shuttle buses. I'm finding a cab to be $42 one way...so not sure what Mears is quoting you on.....unless it is the regular shuttle and that isn't going to work for you. Like I said, they don't allow luggage on the shuttle vehicles and they don't make grocery stops. A Mears cab will though...but that's going to be about $42 or so.

I just saw the mears cab for about $42 as well. That would be one way. I saw a special for national rental for visa cardholders (assuming Disney visa will work) and the price of a car for 3 nights plus toddler car seat is around $130.plus parking $16/day for two nights at Ren. So way more expensive but can go to grocery store. We might just wait to see last minute car rental deals and if the price doesn't get down to under $100, we will prob opt for mears cab. They will pick up and drop off door to door right?
