Yes, I saw Emily talking about it, either on a previous Bachelor episode or on something like Entertainment Tonight. She was actually planning to go on the trip with her fiance. They went everywhere together. But she was sick that morning, with morning sickness she didn't realize was morning sickness. So Ricky told her to stay home. He'd do the short trip without her. Otherwise, she would have also died in the plane crash.
It wasn't until about another month later, when Emily and his family were all still reeling in grief of having lost Ricky, that Emily realized she was pregnant. She was able to go to his parents and tell him that all of Ricky wasn't gone after all. That she was carrying his baby. They were overjoyed.
Yes, but she also said she was going to try not to scare the men with that by blurting it out right away.
Yes, when you know you don't have the same goals & values, why even bother keeping someone around to get attached to? So they can break up later when the passion is not enough?
That's what all that romanticism about love at first sight and chemistry don't address. Sometimes, love really isn't enough when you both really don't want the same things. It doesn't make up for the loss, the compromises, the disappointments, the constant ache & need to really be who a person is meant to be, and loved for being who they really are. Wanting kids and marriage are no small things.
