Who Wants To Try a DIS-Meet At Gulf State Park In May-June 2016?

You guys crack me up. Have the rig in the shop. One of our slides was leaking during the rains at Disney in Jan. Want to get it fixed before we head back in April.

I knew deep down that something like that was coming!! I'll bet Bama_Ed's beach chair someone will find that!!

I also bet my own bottle of rum that as we speak Michael is loading up his family in to his F250 heading to Gulf Shores to look for Riddles in the Sand. :lmao:

I'll bet Randy's nipple piercing that I find it before anybody else does. :hourglass

So I started doing some inspection and maintenance on my camper this week. Next weekend is our usual first camping trip of the year and we are going over the Foscue Campground in Demopolis, AL for a few days to camp on the Tombigbee River. SouthAlabama5er is coming up from Mobile and we got them a spot on the river as well. I'll post on it as it happens.

Anyway, I remembered on our trip back from Disney in October that my trailer brakes didn't feel right. I figured they just needed adjusting so I crawled under and gave them an inspection. I noted that one of the brake drums had what appeared to be grease coming out of it and also a broken spring (pretty sure that is bad). So I took the drum off and found what appears to be a problem. Apparently the rear seal leaked, letting axle grease into the brake housing. The entire inside of the drum was coated.

The braking mechanism is beyond repair or cleaning. Those parts in the middle are all that is left of the adjusting mechanism which had two springs broken and one of the pads busted at the bottom.

I was able to locate a new rear seal locally, but nobody has the brake assembly. I found the right set at a website called ETrailer and got it ordered this morning so it should be here Tuesday. Hopefully get it all put back together. Plan is to wash the truck and trailer tomorrow after church.

Tiggerdad,

ETrailer is on the other side of St Louis about 10 minutes from our race shop. I've bought lots of things from them and was actually there today when I was going to our new Camping World. Our Camping World just opened in January. It's about 2 miles from eTrailer, which is across the street from the GM Wentzville plant where they make the mid-size pickups. ETrailer will do you right.

I had to replace all my brake assemblies on my old 5er. Magnets went bad. Got them from eTrailer. They were cheap and easy to replace. My drums were all good though.

Good thing you found it now and not on the highway at 70 mph when the bearing decided to give up.

Glad you caught that at the house, yeah looking forward to next weekend, hope to plan our pranks and what nots on everyone else at GSP. Hope you get the brake parts you ordered in and put on or I will not be getting in front of yall on the highway.

I been busy looking for Ed's name in the sand all day, (man that guy believes in graffiti!) But I believe high washed away his name.

I had called over there Friday and warned them about this fella coming from Hoover with a A Frame in tow, I told them he was famous and very very rich, that's why he had the welcoming committee when he rolled in to town.

You know it! Hey, I picked up a turkey today so I could get it started thawing. Me and you are going to fry it when we get there. Figure if we burst into flames we can just jump off the bank into the river while our wives just shake their heads and order pizza.

It's amazing I found the brake issue. I hardly use them...

Appreciate the vote of confidence in Etrailer. Really easy to deal with. She said they were in Missouri, I didn't think to ask where but now I know.

I already told my wife about paying for the sites. I'm typing this from the garage where I was banished to after breaking the news. I'm curled up on the bench with the cats.

Another upvote here for Etrailer. :thumbsup2 Bama Ed

2 more :thumbsup2:thumbsup2 on Etrailer. Good people to deal with and very competitive prices. Hope all goes smoothly tiggerdad with the reassembly.

I have been following along on this pre / trip report and it sounds like you guys are going to have a great time. I am especially looking forward to the entertainment pics.

Hey Bamaed when are you leaving going back home ? Where heading to Gulf Shores in a few minutes. Taking the ferry across from the island and eventually going to eat. Maybe at Lulu's.

Flametamr,

I am already home in Hoover. We left at 8am this morning.

It was a beautiful weekend. Of course you knew that since you are local kinda. Did go by Gulf campground for my training run - paid the $2 entrance daily fee. The main road from office to far cul-de-sac and back is a straight up 5k. Saw another Aliner Expedition like mine on Live Oak that I talked with the owners. Couple from Toledo spending 3 months at Gulf. Theirs was a year model earlier than mine so very similar.

So I am gone. Not to return till May (maybe) :scratchin.

Bama Ed

PS - You were right I think garneska's site has the most privacy in #99. Went by yours too on the inside of the curve across from the tennis courts.

Okay maybe next time.

Seriously, Flametamr, some of us have a J-O-B that we have to show up to on Monday morning. We're not all footloose and fancy free like you are (I am jelly, honestly).

We were also across the Bay today, I thought to calling Ed but I figured they left early this morning. We made the rounds the Outlets, rode through GSP, rode down to the Flora Bama and back through Point Clear and downtown Fairhope.

Sunday morning worship at the Flora Bama. It was a nice day, we had the windows down and the sunroof opened, we even took Hwy 59 back to I10.

What a horrible monstrosity next to a great road bar.

What is that? The Phoenix 48?

Some of us remember the good old days back in the 90s when the Orange Beach PD would pull over cars leaving the Flora-Bama headed back to Gulf Shores after midnight just before they crossed over the Perdido Pass bridge.

Or so I've heard. :scared:

Bama Ed

PS - DW says I am no longer allowed to have any fun (and never was allowed EVER for that matter).

That's Phoenix 69 I think Ed.

Don't worry. I'm devising a plan so all us guys can sneak off to the Flor Bama one night in June. Ed, you will at least one more night of fun. Who knows, maybe even meet up with some old friends in the Orange Beach PD too.
