Who Wants To Try a DIS-Meet At Gulf State Park In May-June 2016?

I'm just excited about all this that's going on, going camping at GSP, going to meet some fellow DIS'ers, Buffett concert on Tuesday night, Tiggerdad is paying for everyone's site, things couldn't get much better than this. Gonna practice my gator wrestling techniques this weekend.

5er, since I am the last one to arrive, I bet tiggerdad will settle up on my bill when he arrives so they'll just wave me on in. I won't even have to slow down going through the gate.

You're right - this IS pretty exciting!

Lunching at King Neptunes in Gulf Shores. Brilliant blue sky and very clear and sunny. 57F today, in the 60s tmrw. Will post some pix later today.

Always liked King Neptunes. Small place, but great food. Took girls there after visiting the zoo right across the street.

Blue sky in GS from King Neptunes.

Its good to be the king.

A clue to a good seafood restaurant is it has oyster shells paving the parking lot in back.

We have checked into Gulf Breeze and are headed for the beach.

Well Bum, we are at Gulf Breeze in site 110 way back in a corner which is fine.

My neighbors were coming up to talk before I had even unhitched the trailer from the vehicle (backed in with a bunch of guys watching who had been standing in the street talking when I drove up. One of them had parked in my empty site and he moved it right away. Nevertheless I had an audience.) They wanted to shake hands and learn our names before I had even plugged into shore power. Looks like a fun bunch - Friday night at 630pm is Karaoke Night at the Clubhouse. Bet it gets wild and crazy. Comfort stations are nice, clean with separate rooms (4 in our building) for sink/toilet/and shower) WIFI must be loaded up because it is intermittent so I jumped on my hotspot. Didn't bring a tv but they do appear to have lots of channels. For $35 a night I can live with it just fine.

We just came back from the beach and it was beautiful and empty. Going to head out to dinner about 6pm and then catch a movie at the theater afterwards.

PS - tiggerdad, gas prices were 16 cents higher over the bridge in Gulf Shores than what I paid in Bay Minette at the Raceway just past the ABC Store. Good thing I filled up there. At the I10/Hwy 59 interchange it was 7 cents higher.

If you get the chance try the Cactus Cantina. They have real Tex Mex food. It's on 59 about a half a mile south of the camp ground. Also the Island Wing Company is close to it.

Is the Cactus Cantina just across the parking lot from the movie theater, Bum? I think that is where I saw it tonight.

Honestly, it feels strange being in Gulf Shores and not staying at the State Park. But I headed over to my favorite deserted stretch of beach where State Park Road #2 terminates on the Beach Highway near the campground entrance and the blue water tank.

Yellow flags were out today for a medium strong surf.

I followed the board walk:

Turned the corner and I could see the ocean. It was breezy but not bad.

There was only ONE other couple on the beach as far as the eye could see. Like a meerkat I turned and setup my chair to face the sun and feel the warmth on my tummy facing westward.

Nothing behind me facing eastward.

A mild surf was in front of me.

Here is my Gulf Shores version of the "Kicking It" picture.

Some things were around to see like shells and birds.

Oh and lots of blue sky.

Time to turn in. I will pick it up tomorrow before I leave for Pensacola.

Yes, that is the Cantina. Also the campground has an indoor pool and hot tub right behind the outdoor pool.

Since Randy has given me the OK and it is now technically tomorrow, I have to tell you what else I found on the beach.

I'm not going to tell tiggerdad where it is but I'll give you folks a clue. It's between Fort Morgan and the Flora-Bama. You can have fun on our May trip looking for it.

Bet Randy goes straight to it. He's like a bird dog that way.
