Back from our Dec 4th Western followed by 5 great days at WDW to do a surprise celebration for my parents 50th - they had NO idea and it was great! The cruise was fabulous, but I will say that I'm now a Cat 3 snob - I can't imagine doing something less, at least with a little one in a pack-n-play and another in a bed. I apologize in advance for this predisposition from now on! The suite was awesome and we spent a good deal of time there due to naps. Anna and Cristelle from concierge were wonderful - we had a lot of attention, lots of treats delivered, color pages and crayons on two days, a beautiful petit-fours tray one night, and arcade cards on two nights for both our two kids and another from our party staying next door. So, with an 18-month old who doesn't do arcades, and a 5-year old girl who isn't into it yet, we have 3 arcade cards with most likely $5 worth of credit. Is anyone interested? Please give me a PM and I'll be happy to send.

Also, we did sand pails for the kids from The Perfect Gift and Shirley did a great job! The kids loved them at the two beaches, and they were SO excited to have a present from Mickey!

We heavily used both the Oceaneer's Club AND Flounders.....and Sessions, too (isn't that the Adult Kid's Club?) Did the Bridge Tour, Wine Tasting, and Galley Tour (only a charge for Wine Tasting). Did Palo dinner and Brunch. Across the board, our whole party of 9 thought the food there and at all of the restaurants (including Topsiders and Pluto's) was really fantastic. The sushi rice was a little too sticky, but I'm picky after living in Okinawa. The lamb everywhere was really tender, and we all did the chocolate souffle at Palo. Did 2 spa treatments - and will do it again in two years! We booked 11/17/2006 - something to look forward to! Two days at CC, two days at sea, one day at Cozumel, and one day at Costa Maya.

Our biggest tip is to stay on the ship - I know a lot of people love the ports, but we stayed on board for Key West and Grand Cayman and had the run of the ship and the pools. The beach at Cozumel was the only excursion we did, other than the day at CC.

Drop me a line if the Arcade cards are something you want!

flexsmom-

I passed your cabin every day on the way to the Medical Center! Seeing your door sign gave me a little bit of comfort each time I passed (it was like seeing a friendly face). I was bummed that my son was so sick -- I missed the Dis meet. Next time, I guess.

You're not alone in the Cat. 3 Club -- we're hooked, too. We were in a mid-ship Cat. 3 and loved it so much we booked it again for a "special western" cruise in 2006. We originally thought the suite would be a one time thing. So much for my budget!

Ana and Cristelle were amazing! I don't know how I would have survived isolation in the cabin without them. The little gifts each day were fantastic and they were quick to send up videos, games, and pedialyte.

Thanks for the offering the arcade cards. We don't need them, but I'm sure you're going to make some DS or DD very happy.

Glad you had a such a wonderful vacation! :D

My DS, 7yrs, and DD, 9yrs, would love the arcade cards, as well as their cousins we are traveling with. Will try to pm you.
Thanks

What happened Jenny, that made your son so ill? :worried:

I hope that he was able to "bounce back" towards the end and that it didn't completely end your fun.

mickeyfanmom-

On Sunday, about 1/2 hour after getting off the ship in Key West, he started throwing-up. After three hours of this, I took him to the Health Center. They said we'd have to be quarentined for 48 hours after his last episode. (cause unknown: could have been norovirus or just food poisoning).

Unfortunately, he was sick all night. Monday AM we went back to the Health Center where he received IV fluids for 8 hours. That did the trick. He was feeling much better by Monday night, but we had to stay in isolation until Wed. AM.

We were off the ship in Cozumel and enjoyed most of Thursday. By Thursday night he had a sore throat and was pretty miserable by Friday (so many adults and kids appeared to have bad colds on this cruise). All told, we had about two days of fun. As my son said, we need a "do-over"!

While the trip did not go as planned, DCL insurance should refund 3 days worth of our cruise fare. The staff was wonderful. The medical care was fast and top notch. Jonathan from Guest Services checked on us daily and brought toys and games. My son said it was a lot more fun to be sick on the ship than at home!

What initially upset me was that my DH and I got the suite so that we could have a little romance (for the first time on any trip since DS was born) by having our own bedroom. Let's just say, we didn't take advantage of our REAS package at all. However, I am so thankful we were in this cabin on this trip. My heart really goes out to people who are quarentined in a inside cabin for several days. We were really lucky to have space and fresh air. In the end, I have nothing to complain about.

Oh, I am so sad for you!

I am, however, glad to hear that your son's illness was a temporary thing and that trip insurance will compensate for some of your expense.

Poor guy- your family really does need a "do-over!"

Hope that your next trip is much more magical!

I'm sorry to hear about your son! When we saw National Treasure in the Buena Vista Theater one night we noticed how many people were coughing, but beyond that we were fortunate not to have any illness issues. In fact, my son who has "asthma-like" respiratory problems (they don't want to label him yet) actually totally cleared up the whole time we were away....must be that good salt air!

MIMom - I'll look for your PM?!

Tried it again. Hopefully you will get it.
I'm a newbie at the PM thing.
Thanks so much.

!
Flexmom We have found the same thing with our asthmatic children. They have been perfectly clear on all six cruises(knock on wood). There must be something in the air that helps :earboy2: Maybe it is just Disney Magic.
It was so nice of you to offer the arcade cards to someone else.Gladyou had a good trip

flexsmom, any luck getting my pm's?
