Who uses a fanny pack?

Well I've always used a FP. It held my sunglasses, wallet, tickets, sunscreen and camera. But this trip I'm thinking about a backpack. I'm torn though. I know the backpack will carry my other items like jacket, poncho, etc., but I'm concerned about the rides. With a FP I never worried about getting on rides, but with a BP where do you put it? Especially on the more adventurous ones? This is why I am taking my FP just in case.

Some of the rides actually have little net baskets to put your stuff. On the ones that don't, I just put my backpack on the floor by my feet and put one wrist through the strap and then hang onto the grab bar of the ride. It really isn't a pain at all...

Of course, it would be easier to have NOTHING to carry, but we are far from those days! :goodvibes

I have this Mountainsmith lumbar pack. It's great! I can be sinched (spelling) down to be small or extended to hold anything you'd ever want.

Ok, all this talk made me buy a new one. I LOVE my old one but this is a smaller model. I searched and found the cheapest deal around, $29 and that is a steal for this pack!

I do. I have a backpack for my camera equipment and I wear a fanny pack for my park passes, hand sanitizer, tissues, contact eye drops, money and ID.

Wow, love those Mountainsmith fanny---er, lumbar packs!

I do wear a fanny pack to WDW (yes, they're tacky as heck, but I also wear them to estate sales :rotfl: ), and they are readily available at Walmart for about 5 bucks. I wish I could see the Mountainsmith LUMBAR packs in person though--I would probably purchase one.

It's just so great to walk around WDW without carrying anything and without being afraid of leaving something behind on the ride--the fanny pack, even crammed full with my camera, wallet, lipgloss, etc., is hardly noticeable. I wear it thew pack in front and to the side a bit.

I really debated using the FP this trip. In the past I've always used it, but DD who's 15 tells me it so unfashionable and she wouldn't be caught dead with one. She uses a small backpack. But I really like not having something on back and it's so much easier when you do rides. We'll bring a backpack for our jackets but it will stay in the locker. In the past we carried it too but youngest is 6 now and I think since we'll be dropping the stroller we'll drop carring the backpack.

I myself wouldn't be caught dead wearing a fanny pack......except at Disney. They look dorky and dont help those of us with "extra" weight. But they make things easy and accesible. I even bought a matching one for the sweetpea to hold her own stuff. Keeps our hands free and doesn't make either of us feel like a pack mule. But once we aren't as Disney, the fanny packs get packed away and never to be spoken of tell we head back to the park.

We outgrew fanny packs a few years ago and now carry backpacks around. It is easier for us to carry all the items for the kids and still not feel too out of place.

This thread makes me (and probably any other Australians reading it ) smile. We call them "Bum Bags" here....."Fanny Pack" has a whole other meaning down under!!!! :rotfl:

Same in the UK Monty :rotfl:

Yup, just what I was going to say!

:rotfl2:

I am the same way . ONLY in WD!!! That would ruin the cool mom image at home. No seriously after going thru the strollers, backpacks etc when the girls were little it is so nice to throw on something little to carry everything. Not to mention when DD 5 is tired and wants me to BRIEFLY hold her I sit her right on it and helps support her. Hasn't torn yet. So the Disney bags are fairly durable I have had it for years!!

That is the good thing about the Mountainsmith packs. They are tough enough to not look sissy on a man. :rotfl2:

I use my large one as my disk golf bag on weekends. :teeth:

A fanny pack is a must have for any theme park! I put my camecorder in it since there made so small now. My whole trip would be ruined if I lost my camecorder. Since I no longer carry a camera. When we get home from a trip I go through the film and pull all of my pictures from camcorder footage I go frame by frame to get the best pictures. My money and park tickets go in the zippered compartment inside so I don't accidently lose anything going in and out of it all day. You can also secure your sunglasses while on rides. It's amazing how much you can fit into one. Mine is small. I would not be caught dead in one outside of the parks. I feel like a dork.

swore she would never, ever wear one except...at Disney World! She broked down and wore one our first family trip and praises it every trip. But again, it is the ONLY time she wear one!

Myself....I am a backpack guy!

I use a cute little over the shoulder thing I bought at LL Bean. It was only 29 dollars and it holds lots of stuff including my cell phone and camera. It totally replaced my fanny pack.
