In a way I do and the prices are just making it almost impossible for a family to go for a week even on the value resorts, am I the only one thinking this way?

Overrated, No Way! we love disney! But Overpriced you betcha!

I don't think that way, but then again I am posting on DIS

I think Disney is UNDER rated. Best place to be with family and friends.... :thumbsup2

Looks like i Made a boo boo, you are all right, overpriced is the word, I just didn't type that part in the right way but I did say " Originally Posted by GailT

I do but I prefer the Disney of 10, 15 years ago. This one isn't as nice IMO and is way more expensive!

Overpriced, but not overrated.

I agree. Some parts of Disney are overpriced for me, but most are not overrated.

Unfortunately, I am the only one in my family who is a Disney freak. The climbing prices are definitely making it more difficult for me to justify future trips.

I compare a day at a Disney park to a day at Great Adventure and I figure Disney gives me great value. Resorts and meals can be scaled according to the price you wish to pay (and that includes offsite eating and residing) and I don't figure that into the equation.

Good point. I was including the resorts in my thoughts and those are easy to stay away from. Well, for some of us at least. ;)

I don't mean to be overly harsh about WDW. I just think that MGM isn't as fun as it once was and I miss so much of the old stuff at Epcot. MK is fine and I suppose that AK is too but it just hasn't felt the same to me in last several years. Of course, everyone feels differently about that. :confused3

I don't agree at all. WDW fascinates me. I guess because DH used to work at Dollywood, I see WDW as a great value for the $, I really do. Heck, I think I'd spend so much more $$ at PF in a week or even a trip to the beach and not have so much quality entertainment at my fingertips.

I realize many agree with you but I am not one of them. I think if you go to WDW and spend $$ like you'll never be back so you splurge the whole time that it would be extrememly expensive but I don't do that.

On our last WDW trip we stayed off site at the Sheraton Vistana Resort for $300 for a week. So that part wasn't bad at all. And we ate breakfast before and dinner after so we only ate one meal in the parks (most days anyways). Those two things weren't too bad.

As far as Disney itself, I can say that when we lived in CA and went to DL all the time, to me it was worth every penny!! You get so much enjoyment and entertainment and memories that are priceless.

When I'm at Disney, I get to be a kid again. I get to believe in magic right along with my 5 yr olds. I can forget about the bills and whatever other daily stresses I have. I'm not sure if you can put a price on that.

So for the parks themselves, I say it's worth it. For the resorts and some of the food and merchandise, well, then I'd say they're not that great and very over-priced. JMO

I think it is a good value. Entertainment, of any kind, and certainly quality entertainment, is very costly. Go to a MLB, NBA, NFL game, tickets, food, 3 hours....$$$$$. Go to a nice resort, sans the the theme parks, for a week....$$$$$. Entertainment is costly, and Disney has some of the highest quality available.

I think Disney is over priced. Close to $1000 for park tickets for a week! That's crazy in my book. :crazy2: But we will hopefully due it again in 2008. I can't wait!

Me too! I have to admit though I haven't been since 2001, so I don't really know what it costs right now. I don't consider Disney an "affordable" vacation, for us it's more of a long planned for trip. However, I felt the value for the entertainment we received was quite good.

if people are willing to pay for the price of the tickets then Disney will keep on bumping up the ticket price until people are no longer buying the tickets.

Not over rated or over priced. If you know what you are doing this can be a cost effective vacation.

I just heard on the news here, the Bears, not Super Bowl contenders, are raising prices again. "Standard' seats range from $60 to $95, and a game lasts about 3 or so hours. Family of 4, admission only, $240 to $380, for the afternoon.

Wow - I just went and looked up ticket prices. It's a bargain if you stay a week! They showed basic "magic your way" passes - where you get into one park per day and if you stay a week it breaks down to less than $30 a day. You'd have to plan it carefully since you can't skip around, but I'd say that's a good deal.
