Who thinks BW surrey bikes are annoying?

I do enjoy watching the riders trying to pull the bridge over the canal by the entrance to WS. Always fun to hear them crying...

Believe it or not! I successfully pedaled up that thing ALONE while my father-in-law, mother-in-law and then pregnant wife rested their feet and laughed at me. (At least that's what it FELT like).

I STILL feel my muscles and tendons tearing.

Anyone else get annoyed when they come zipping by at 80mph?

That may depend on who or what is in their path.:teeth: :teeth: ;)

I'm annoyed by them. I don't find it funny that riders get some joy out of ringing the bell and watching other Guests scatter for safety. Limited hours for rentals would be nice.

I think that bells better then when people don't use it and sneak up on you only to start screaming *watch out, watch out, move outta of our way, you're going to be hit!*

I'll take the bell over that anyday.

They are loud, but easy to avoid. And the riders look like they are having a ball.

But why don't the people on the back seats ever peddle?:D :D

We rented one last September and I have never laughed so much in my life...we didn't make it up either hill and my sister and I had to push it up. Do you know how hard it is to pedal while laughing hysterically. We could never get the thing to go fast enough to put anyone in danger (two dead weights riding in the back)

Those BW surrey's also annoy the heck out of me!! I don't mind so much, except when they're coming down the hill behind us, then they scare the life out of me... I'm sure one will hit me someday!

Having said that, we always rent surrey's over at WLV's, it's a lot more fun!!!

Actually, I was more annoyed at the bikes at WLV's than the one's on the Boardwalk. Walking around the resort, the last thing I wanted to look out for was a rogue 4-wheeler.

I have rented the bikes at the Boardwalk, after a few MVP's at the ESPN Club, and if I didn't hit anyone then, I don't think anyone has anything to worry about.

I'm just waiting to get hit so I can pick my dream job at disney with no questions asked.

I just think they need a painted designated lane going (ONE-WAY) at night so no one gets hurt. If your walking (in this lane) at night , then your( fair game) and the drivers will gets pts for how many hits they get. Pts will be good for things like ( extra time on the surrey bike to get more pts or being allowed to go the opposite way of the one-way sign so people can dodge you ( but you get more pts if you can hit a dodging person. ):Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

I like them. They are easily avoidable and add a festive feel to the Boardwalk.

I also agree.

It is a little surprising that they rent out so many when it's busy at night, but that's the only time cool enough to ride them..

You don't see many people riding them in the am.

Surrey bikes are all part of the Boardwalk fun, I sometimes grab hold of one when they are trying to get going, the pedallers must think why is this thing so heavy, or during the walk to Epcot help by giving extra push up the hill, sometimes they need it when there are a total of 10 teenagers and adults on a six seater.:D :D

No problem with the bikes, BUT
I do have a problem with idiots and careless people renting them.

We love renting them and are proud to say that we have made it up all hills...however, my husband claims he's the only one pedaling.

We behave on the bike just as we used to when skiing. When approaching people we ring the bell and yell "coming on your right", we then say "thank you" when passing. I find it amazing how many people will not allow you to pass and do it on purpose.

I don't mind people passing me when I am walking and they are riding; I just mind people expecting me to get out of their way when I am walking and they are riding. I think those folks need to slow down.

They used to have a tram that ran over to the entrance to EPCOT so maybe we should count our blessings that they at least don't have that anymore.

I remember that tram!

Wish they would start it up again just to bring people from the far parking lot to the Boardwalk. That way, they could restrict the closer lots to just BWI/BWV hotel guests, valet parking customers and conventioners. That might also discourage more people from parking at the Boardwalk to go to IllumiNations.

And the tram wouldn't have to ride on the walkways between the Boardwalk and International Gateway - just the streets and parking lots.

Of course, it will never happen, but I can dream, can't I??

I hate the d*mn things. Before being allowed to take one out, the renters should be tested to make sure they're not bubble brains.......

Hey that was my family and I that you laughed at when we were stopped on the bridge. I was gasping for breath, and telling the kids that we were stopped to take in the panorama. We did the surrey bikes once. I agree. They are dangerous, and we spent the remainder of our trip dodging them. Sounds like a reasonable thing to restrict the hours of use.

I agree with Sammie. The bikes don't bother me, but the operators do.

Agree with Sammie, hate the attitude of many of the bikers. Yelling and ringing the bell as the bike barrels down on other guests is very unDisneylike to me.

I wonder if the WDW liability lawyers have ever lingered in that area?

i'm still surprised and after many trips my dw still always comments how we have never seen anyone hit by one, have seen a few close calls but no actual gore yet
