John Charles was my favorite WDW entertainer. I remember him from our first stays at the Poly. He used to entertain in the Tambu Lounge. He went from there to the Baton Rouge Louge on the Empress Lily where some nights it would be standing room only. After the Empress Lily closed he was at the Diamond Horseshoe Review for a short time and then went on to the lounge at Port Orleans. He used to have a web site but I can't find it anymore. Anyone remember him? He was a great pianist, guitarist, singer and comedian. I noticed in his later shows he spent a lot of time talking with guests and less performing. I knew at some point he had a falling out over his contract with Disney and I think he was going off on his own. Any more info?

We also love John Charles. We bought some video tapes of his performances at both Empress Lily and Fort Wilderness. When he was performing, we spent several nights of our trips seeking him out and just enjoying watching him perform, and sipping a drink or 2. He was the best entertainer on property. I'd love to get some CD's because his voice was great, he could sing anything. Wouldn't it be wonderful to see him perform again at Disney, maybe PI? I would definitely pay to see him, are you listening Disney?

I really can't say enough about him. The real entertainment wasn't at PI but in the Baton Rouge Lounge! I think that there was some "financial" disagreements between him and Disney . Believe me, they should have realized that he was one of a kind and paid to keep him.

Yes, DawnCT1 I did watch the promo movie. Thank you. I enjoyed seeing him again. Although he looks so different without his cowboy hat. ;)

I wondered if the financial trouble was that people would sit for hours and listen to John Charles for free at the Empress Lily, plus a couple of drinks of course, and in the meantime Disney would have made more money if everyone went to Pleasure Island instead? Again, I'd be happy to pay to see him, well worth it!
