Just wondering who shares meals to save a few $$. I thought I was sold on the dlx dining plan, but now I am thinking we will be able to eat at all the places we want and just share (app, main, and dessert) and then we would not be over eating. Is this okay to do at TS restaurants?? I am not trying to be cheap as I have already budgeted for the dlx plan, just do not want a lot of food to go to waste.

Thanks!

We'll share, not just for the benefit of saving money, but because we feel that the portions are just too big.

We did the regular DDP last year and wasted so much food. We'd eat a few bites, feel full and then wasted about half our meal. Sure we could have not ordered it, but it was pre-paid for and ordering our own meals helped us avoid the dreaded agreement on what one entree to get.

Where we did successfully share (and thus had lots of leftover credits) was at CS locations.

This year we're just paying OOP, using our DDE card and ordering what we want when we want. Initial calculations have us saving about $450 vs the DDP, but we'll see what actuality is when we get back at the end of March. Regardless, I hope we don't return from this trip hating food (Disney food in particular) because we are so sick of eating - again.

One of our favorite ways to share is to both order salads, but then order two appetizers and share. (Instead of entrees.) If we want dessert, we share that, too.

We frequently share. It allows us to try a wider variety of food and get portions that are more well suited. My husband and I might get a couple appetizers and one entree to split. Then if we still have room, maybe splurge for a dessert. This also works well with our kids - we just order a little more and then usually with the variety we have we can find something to please each of our daughters.

Another big portion splitter here. At Le Cellier my wife will get a salad and grilled asparagus, I'll get the asparagus and a 14 oz steak and cut her a big slice of that. We've waddled out of there too many times.

Hey Bill From PA...

My wife and I often split a pint from the Rose & Crown! (well....not really THAT often).

See ya on the Boardwalk at the end of the month!!

My husband and I have split meals for years. We are not trying to save money, we just cannot eat 2 full entries, an appetizer, and dessert.

We have done this at just about all the restaurants including CA. Grill, Citricos, Jiko, and Flying Fish just to name a few. All of the servers have been very nice when we have asked.

My DH is a big eater so he never splits. But DD and I split. Not necessarily to save money, just because if we each get an appetizer half of an entree is more than enough. Sometimes we do get just one dessert and split it three ways (I eat very little dessert because I am diabetic).

popcorn:: Oh my......I feel like an oinker.:rolleyes1 We love the TS but order only what we want at the CS....weather it's included or not. :rotfl2:

Ditto. Not about saving $ so much as trying some of everything, pacing yourself. Otherwise you tend to over order. We have the DDE card so splitting lets us sample a couple apps, entrees, save room for dessert, cheese or that extra glass of wine. Have also split food at several signature places, servers usually very helpful, have the dishes split in the kitchen. FWIW.

when my son became an "adult":rolleyes1 in disney-speak @ the ripe old age of 10 on the DDP; we found he wasn't very interested in most of the appetizers or the desserts:confused3 . Usually just wanted a scoop of ice cream later via snack credit.

other than charactar buffets, I started sharing his credit (eating appetizer, salad & perhaps ordering a soup or salad if i was starving).

After eating a big lunch, I certainly didn't feel deprived & it allowed for an extra TS @ lunch or 2. :thumbsup2

now that he's older he usually does it justice though & I usually use my own credit.

When all 3 of us do WDW (me, DH, and DD9), we usually get 1 appetizer, 2 entrees, and 1 dessert. That is just perfect for us- nobody leaves the table hungry, but we aren't bloated and loosening out belts, either. DD really doesn't like "kid food", so we just share our more grown-up entrees with her.

When it's just DD and I, we usually have 1 appy OR 1 dessert along with 1 entree. We do save $$, and we don't feel like we are wasting food.

We are appetizer people, so we will share those, but not the entree, not to save money. We don't eat desert. If, by some chance a desert is ordered, I may take a bite. I really don't care for what my husband does, and I don't want my own. This is why the DDP won't work for us this year.

I think you may both still be charged a TS if you share. I can't find it in the brochure, but recall reading it here from a CM? Verify this before deciding. :thumbsup2

It might work to on the basic plan to have one order dinner and the other an OOP appetizer. Perhaps then you won't get charged.

You won't be charged for two entrees if you are paying OOP, and my impression from the OP was that she had been doing the DDP, but decided against it.

DH and I share all counter service and snack items, not only does it save money but we get to try more things! For CS breakfast I usually order a kids meal, there is still alot of food on the kids sizes

Many meals,I am disbetic and if we didn't my sugar would be out of sight. :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes
