I haven't used the new system at all, but I switched all of mine (except the day of A&E at 2:50) in the hopes of getting several additional. On the 24-hour day, my last fast pass is at 8:20 am.
)We leave soon and I was just wondering how many people are changing their fastpasses to all early morning/afternoon in hopes of obtaining more fast passes?
The announcement came out right after I booked all ours. So I booked all in morning except 2 days which have evening. I am debating giving those up in favor of trying to get more. 30 minute waits for the non headliners is really discouraging. Would it be worth giving up the mountains at MK for the chance to obtain more?

Does anyone know if you have to actually use the 2nd and 3rd FP+ in order to get the 4th? Or can you just schedule them and let the time slots go by? The reason I ask is because in a park like Epcot I may not even care about the 2nd and 3rd FP+ choices that are offered at the beginning. But that doesn't mean I don't want to have a shot in the afternoon at getting TT or Soarin' as a "4th" FP or hop to another park and continue.

Y
So say you have a 10am-11am, 11am-12pm, and a 12pm-1pm FP. Ride the Tier 1 first at 10am, then move up your 2nd ride to ASAP, ride it, then move up the 3rd, ride it. Now your window for the 4th is ready to go!

It's the 7-9 crowd days that are the big question in my mind. When will the last of the "Headliners", D ticket, and solid C ticket FP+ be gone and your left with FP+'s Captain EO and Muppetvision 3d.

For us, the norm is to schedule FP+ times between 10:30 and 1:30. The thought behind that is to ride SB from RD to 10:30ish - SB lines are usually relatively short for a lot of rides, including many headliners. Then late morning/early afternoon, we ride our FP+ choices, filling-in the gaps with less-popular rides/activities. We usually go back to the resort for some pool time and rest. After dinner, we will head back to the parks - most of the time, it's a different park than earlier in the day. Having the option to use additional FP+ is a bonus, as long as the slots are available for what we want to ride! We tend to tour differently, simply because we visit frequently - there's no urgency to cram it all in. I definitely understand that this type of plan wouldn't work for a lot of people.
I was just this past week from 4/30-5/8 (@ MK, epcot, HS, AK). I had advanced Fp+ booked 60 days out for all parks. When I used my 3 fp, I had a lot of difficulty getting 4th ones for various reasons, such as
(a) entire system being down on Fri 5/2
(b) nothing left that we wanted to do and/or no FP left at all on "desireable" rides @ MK. The only place I had luck getting 4th FP was at AK, and only on a less desirable ride. On Sunday 5/4 the line for the FP kiosks itself was at least 1/2 hr to 45 min (my phone app was not letting me do it - giving errors - I found it to be kinda glitchy at times).
So basically my bottom line is I wouldn't cancel good fp I had for the hope cramming all in during morning in hopes of getting a 4th, because there might be nothing left in afternoon. I did note that lines were shorter in morning and after 7pm-ish, and were the worst from 1pm-6pm.
If you're willing to have your 4th be after supper, you might have some luck. However, although I was at most parks til closing or 10 pm, whichever was earlier, I ended up not needing too many FP at night.
My trip is still real far away and my case if pretty unique, 1 day in the parks park hopping between 3 or all 4 parks.
From a theoretical standpoint, based on early indications, If the crowds are 5 or 6 and below, there is current a large selection of leftover FP+ to "pick through" for your 4th + fp+. But as the crowds get heavier the headliner start disappearing or become further out. But especially at the MK there still seem to be plenty of solid ride choices left just not the headliners.
On the other hand, If you're going on a 10 crowd day, especially if your talking Christmas or New Years Eve, I can almost guarantee that there won't be anything available of any worth for a 4th FP+ your better off planning your FP+ for when they will fit your schedule and save you the most time.
