Who loves food? This girl! My May 2009 dining reviews, with pics! Updated 6/23!

Hello everyone,

Before I get into my review of LTT I just wanted to give a few thoughts on Aloha Isle. After hearing so much about the dole whip we had to try one. When we got to Aloha Isle the Citrus Swirl caught my eye. Anthony got a regular Dole whip, I got the citrus swirl and we shared. I must say we were truly disappointed in both treats. [ducks flying objects from incredulous Dissers ] I guess maybe I just expected it to taste more like a real pineapple and mine to be more citrusi [that is so not a word] We finished them because it was a cold treat on a hot day but it's not something we would get again.

On to Liberty Tree Tavern. We had lunch reservations with some friends and their baby Joel [probably in the top 3 cutest babies of all time:)] who were at WDW at the same time. We had never really had a sit down meal with a baby before and boy did it spice things up. It's hard not to laugh when he's doing things like chucking things across the table but we did our best not to encourage:rotfl:

I do not recall what our friends ordered for their meals so I am sticking to what we ate. Although I do recall that Joel had a pasta dish. We were all really impressed by how much of it he ate, until we looked on the floor :scared1: I don't think much of it actually made it in his mouth. We had a blast watching him. Kids are funny.

Anthony and I ordered the Tavern Fried Cheese for an appetizer. The regular mozzarella sticks were good, nothing amazing. There was another shaped cheese on the plate, more like a nugget, that I read somewhere was white cheddar. Whatever it was, wasn't that great. It tasted funny.

For my entree I ordered the bacon cheeseburger which I found to be very good but huge. I could only finish half of it. The burger came with steak fries that were lukewarm and not very good.

Anthony ordered the Pilgrim's feast and was not particularly crazy about it which surprised me because we had ordered the exact same thing about 8 months prior and it was very good. Just goes to show you can't judge a restaurant on one faulty meal. Anthony said the turkey was good but the stuffing was mushy and bland as also were the potatoes and gravy, not to mention a little cold.

We skipped dessert and got Mickey bars instead. All in all it was an OK meal but we will probably skip LTT on the next trip.

We decided on lunch at Pecos after seeing the good reviews online. We walked in around 11 am right before the lunch rush. We ordered off the little computer kiosks and had our food within a few minutes.

Anthony ordered the chicken salad.

For some strange reason we were expecting a chicken salad sandwich, I have no idea why. He deemed the salad very good but then again it was lettuce and some chicken not a gourmet meal.

I had the taco salad which is given to you plain [just the meat in the shell]

You can then proceed to the fixings bar and put whatever you want on it. I was really excited because I like a lot of tomato in my taco salad so I could put tomatoes on to my little heart's content. I was kind of hoping to find chopped tomatoes, all they had was sliced but what can you do? I really loved my salad. The shell the salad was in was crispy, delicious and tasted very fresh. It did not taste greasy as it sometimes happens with these shells.

For dessert Anthony got the pre-packaged carrot cake which I forgot to photograph but he liked very much. I got the chocolate pudding.

One word: yuck. It was THE worst pudding ever. I was really disappointed as pudding is probably one of the most fantastic things on this planet and it went so horribly wrong in this case. It was not very rich or chocolaty for that matter. It was an absolute epic failure.

Pecos got very busy, very quickly shortly after our arrival. We were able to find a few empty tables in the first seating area on the right after the fixings bar. I did not observe how the rest of the seating situation was but halfway through our meal all of the tables around us were filled and the outside seating was starting to be used [it was hot.]

I would give Pecos an 8/10. I was disappointed in the dessert options of carrot cake, pudding and yogurt [really?] but I would absolutely eat here again.

I will be away for the weekend but check back Sunday for a quick review of Pinocchio Village Haus, dinner at Cape May and dinner at Chef Mickey's.

I have Peco Bills on my list as a possible stop in August. Looks decent. I also heard there is a new CS where the McDonald's fries place use to be, did you see it on your trip?

I'm really torn about trying LTT for lunch on our next trip, haven't been reading great reviews lately.....:confused3

Thanks for the detailed review! This is exactly what I was looking for, some insight into the little details that make a restaurant experience special. Good job!:woohoo:

Thanks for all of the great reviews and pics. My family is returning to the World in September, and we're hoping to try Le Cellier and Tutto for the first time (I make ADRs next Sunday!). Looking forward to your next posts!

Anytime we're at WDW together again, Joel would be thrilled to entertain!:rotfl2: This is the best dining review I've ever read!! PS- I had the same meal as Anthony, and Mike had the yankee pot roast.

I believe I did. I did see this place across from Pecos [on the Pirates side]

If I remember correctly they were serving nuggets, chicken sandwiches and some other stuff I can't quite recall. Pecos was definitely serviceable as a CS I thought the options were different enough from the other MK CS to garner a stop. Thanks for reading!

I know what you mean, it's so hard to pick places to eat when there is so much contradicting information. This was our third visit in two years and this was the only time the food wasn't good. Good luck on your decision.

Thank you for the kind words, I really appreciate it and thank you for taking the time to read and comment.

Great reviews! Looking forward to more! popcorn::

Glad you're enjoying it, thanks for reading. :)

I hope you get the ADRs you want because in my book those are places not to be missed. Thank you for reading.

Joel was a hoot!
I am glad you are enjoying the review. :goodvibes
Did you guys like your entrees?

We did like our entrees; we hadn't been to LTT in about 5 years, and it was much better than I remembered.

Love the look of Tutto Italia, not sure about LTT now that there are no dinner characters, thanks for the reviews, really enjoying them.

Love the report so far! I was a little late finding it so I'm just subbing, but keep up the great work! You're making me hungry!

I love the idea of making your own taco salad... Pecos Bills is definitely on our list for possible CS meals. But that pudding! :( It LOOKED decent...so sad!

Just caught up on your reviews. Great job! :goodvibes

Re: Lottawatta lodge and basically most of the prepackaged desserts-they aren't very good. :confused3That's why when we go to Lottatwatta or Leaning Palms (TL) we get our dessert later and get ice creams. They let you do this which is great. The only prepackaged desserts that I've liked is the Key Lime Pie at Wolfgang Puck Express and some of them at Sunshine Seasons.

We also tried Tutto Italia for the first time Sept. 08 and we'll be back this Sept. It's time for me to make my ADRs and I asked my DD(10 in Sept) where she wanted to go for her birthday dinner. She picked Tutto. :cool1: what can I say, my girl's got taste! :rotfl:

If we get to Pecos Bills I'll think I'll have to try that Taco Salad. Looks pretty good.

Waiting for more...

I get so hungry when I write these, so I am right there with you. :) Thanks for reading.

*sigh* Yeah, I still can't let go of how bad it was. I thought Kozy Shack was supposed to be good stuff. If you decide to eat there hopefully they will have upgraded the dessert choices.

Love your reviews can't wait to see more!!!!

Thanks for the kind words and taking to time to read/post.

I'm thinking about LeCellier now! Great reviews.

Thanks! :goodvibes

Yeah, the prepackaged dessert do leave a lot to be desired. I had no idea about the ice cream. Thanks for that tip.:woohoo:

Good luck with your ADR's hope you can get your DD's preference.

Stay tuned everyone, coming up tonight is brief thoughts on Pinocchio Village Haus, dinner at Cape May and dinner at Chef Mickey's w/pics.

Hello everyone,

I'm psyched to see how many people are reading and commenting. Thanks again everyone :worship:

We ended up at Pinocchio Village Haus due to being sick of the food at POP and decided to head here for lunch because I thought we could find different options here [crazy :rotfl:] Needless to say it wasn't anything different than what we could have had at POP. At that point it was around 3 and we were starving [we had been debating lunch for 2 hours I think. We have issues I know :lmao:] so we just went with it.

We both ordered the chicken nuggets, fries and chocolate cake. It was your standard fare, good, but the same chicken you can get all over WDW. The place was quite busy but we were able to grab a table overlooking It's A Small World which was nice. Here is the view from our table. [Don't mind Ric Flair in the shot, it's a long story]

Right below the banister [or above it if you're over 5'3"] you can see the boats heading into the attraction. Overall, Pinocchio Village Haus is good for a quick theme park meal. There aren't a lot of options but it's a nice, dark, cool reprieve from the blazing heat.
