Who loves food? This girl! My May 2009 dining reviews, with pics! Updated 6/23!

It's funny (not really) because while walking right past this restaurant this past January a Seagull literally swiped the food out of a poor little boys mouth.

aww, that poor kid is probably traumatized now, aside from that aspect that's a pretty hilarious sight. I'm mean :lmao:

Great reviews so far, we've never eaten at Le Cellier but are doing DXDP next year so may try and book in for then. Sounds like Yak and Yeti was not worth the ADR though.

Looking forward to more reviews.

I would totally recommend Le Cellier, some people feel it's overrated but I am a big fan.
I am glad we tried Yak and Yeti it as there were some aspects we enjoyed but we probably will not be making another ADR there. Thanks for reading:goodvibes

:goodvibes:goodvibes You are a girl after my own heart regarding the cheddar cheese soup at LeCellier!! 3 more months til I get to taste it again!! Thanks for helping me get thru until then!! LOL!:lmao:

If it begins with the words cheddar cheese, I'm in:rotfl2:

You had me at sugary donuts

Great reviews! I'll keep watching.

Can't wait to read more. Wow, that drink at Yak & Yeti is on my must try list.

I want that liquid appetizer!! I've been making a list of drinks I want to try on our trip and this one is definetly being put on it.

Just caught up on your reviews. They are terrific! Can't wait to hear the rest.

Thanks for reading and posting you guys. :goodvibes

Sorry for the delay in posts, busy weekend but stay tuned on Monday night for Teppan Edo, and Tutto Italia with pics! :wizard:

Hello everyone,

This post won't be as exciting as others as I did not take a pics at Teppan Edo. Why you ask? I'm going to call brain fart on this one. That's all I got :rotfl:

We arrived roughly half an hour early for our ADR and were given a beeper. We were able to step outside onto the balcony and enjoy the Japanese drummers, which are always awesome. After about 10-15 minutes our pager went off and we were seated with 3 other couples.

Our server was very friendly. Heavy accent which it made it a little difficult to understand but nothing daunting. She was very good about finding out who was on DDP and explaining what was included from the menu as well as always keeping us well stocked with soda which is always a huge plus. She brought out hot towels to wipe our hands down with and took our orders.

The chef seemed to take forever to come out and start cooking [not 100% sure how long it was as we don't wear watches and I don't particularly do well in the waiting department so the wait for the chef could have been deceiving.] Once he was out he was fabulous. He was friendly, entertaining and very fast.

He double checked that Anthony and I did not want veggies at all and was good about keeping them out of our plates. He made the noodles first and we got ours first since we were going veggie less. Anthony doesn't do noodles so bonus for me! I was wicked psyched to get double noodles. I think they're really delicious as they seem to do just a bit of some powered seasoning and some soy sauce so they are not heavy at all. I had two servings and was still able to finish my entree.

After the noodles he busted out all the meats he's going to use depending on what was ordered. He did his whole show, chopping, seasoning, making a volcano out of the onion. Very entertaining and pretty cool to watch up close. Three sauces were served with the meats, can't recall what they are now but the chef explains what each one is and what meat goes with it. At some point during this the white rice accompaniment was brought out.

Anthony and I both had the chicken and steak combo. It was delicious, well cooked, the sauces went great with the meats. Clean plate club all around. We passed on dessert as I was craving soft serve on a waffle cone [this was a recurring theme on this vacation :)] We absolutely love Teppan Edo and will continue to dine there each trip to the World.

Coming up right now...Tutto Italia with pics!

I'm in, love your pics of Le Cellier, my fingers are crossed that I will be able to get a ressie for this trip, out of our last 5 trips I have only gotten one dinner in at Le Cellier. Hopefully the gods will be watching over me so that I too may eat some Cheddar Cheese soup :worship::worship:

We first dined at Tutto Italia in September of 2008 and were very impressed with the food. We decided to return here on our next trip and were really looking forward to it.

We were seated within 5 minutes of our arrival. Our server took a little while to appear but the server at the table next to us, who seemed to be on water and bread duty, was right on the ball in filling our water glasses and bringing us a basket of assorted breads, some olive oil and veggies that seemed to be marinated in something that was just not appetizing to our pallets.

I forget what the butter was but we weren't fond of that either. Adventurous we are not. We stuck to the olive oil.

Our waitress appeared and she was friendly and better than what the delayed contact first indicated. After ordering some cokes, Anthony ordered the veal Chianti ravioli. It was in a very light, butter like sauce.

I ordered the Tagliatelle egg pasta with meat ragu bologneses. Which is fancy for pasta with meat sauce.

Anthony took one bite of the ravioli and was not a fan. I tried mine and was really impressed with how good it was. It was a simple dish but very tasty. I tried Anthony's and it was indeed very rich [not his style] I thought it was absolutely amazing and I don't even like veal. I knew he would like my entree instead so I offered the switch. He loved it, said the sauce tasted just like his grandmother's sauce. [She's Sicilian]

For dessert we both had gelato which for some strange reason I didn't photograph. For those who have never had gelato, to me it has a lighter texture than ice cream but a far richer taste, if that makes sense. Anthony ordered the chocolate gelato and deemed it very good. I personally don't find it sweet enough for my taste. I went with the zabaglione flavor which I was told was some kind of alcohol. Which I would have figured out as soon as I tasted it. It tasted really boozy, if I didn't have a belly full of pasta I might have been stutter stepping out of the restaurant:rotfl2:. You eventually get used to the strong taste of booze in it, but it is very jarring at first.

All in all, pretty good service, great good, beautiful restaurant. 9/10.

On tap for next time...dole whips, not so much :scared1:, Liberty Tree Tavern and Peco's Bill with pics!

Congrats, hope you enjoy them as much as we did. Thanks for reading.

Jo, thanks so much for the reviews. Really enjoying it so far. I have been to the World many times but have never been on the ddp. I am really trying to research the ts meals. Maybe going a little overboard. Stressing about reading that people aren't able to get the ressies that they want. I'm thinking since it's just dh and myself, maybe not so difficult.
Anyway, I read in your first post that you guys were on the basic plan. Was your meal at Le Cellier covered with the plan or did you have to come out of pocket on the apps? :confused3
As you can see by my post count, pretty new to the boards so thanks for any help.

I'll answer for the DW on this one lol I figure this is the only time and place I could get a word in edge wise j/k hon love you :love2:

With the Basic DDP we pay out of pocket for any apps and/or alcoholic beverages since we don't get apps or alcohol every meal it makes more economic sense to pay out of pocket for a few rather than shell out the extra money up front for the Deluxe Dining. Having said that Le Cellier does offer the Chef's Choice which does include an appetizer, entree and dessert and is included on the Basic DDP. Having said that the entree choices are limited to 3 options.

It is usually rather easy for us to get the ADR's that we want given that it is only the 2 of us so we are open to whatever time is available, on the 90 day mark. We have gone with the Basic DDP our past 3 trips to the World and have found it to save us money especially since we enjoy some of the more expensive sit downs such as Tutto Italia, The Wave and Le Cellier.

I hope that answered your question if not I am sure the DW will add to what I said and correct any of my mistakes :rotfl2:

Loving your reviews. I can't wait for your review of Shutters. We are going in August and I have found very few reviews on it.

Oooh, great review so far! Thanks for sharing!

Can't wait for more. :)

Hi Jo :wave2:- great job on the food porn and your reviews hold great detail. Even though I am watching my calories, I love "window shopping" for food. I am a total foodie!! This report is great. :goodvibes

Thanks Metalis4ever. That really answers my question(s). My big 2 "wants" as far as adr's goes is Poly Luau and Le Cellier. Other than those, I'm easy. I really wanted to try the soup though and the $$$ isn't that big of a deal. I was just curious. I saw the Chef's Choice and figured I could work with that anyway.

Looking forward to the rest of your reviews!!!
