We're thinking about going to FL over the 4th of July weekend. My husban's birthday is the 4th and he would like to go to the Pepsi 400 race on the 3rd. We usually stay in Kissimmee and was wondering how we could get him to the track. I was wondering if anyone knew about parking. I wanted to know if there was a place where you could get a shuttle to the track so you don't have to get in the traffic near the track. I would like to drop my husband off, go to Epcot and then go back at night and pick him up. Any info would be great. Thanks.

I attended the Pepsi 400 twice when I lived and worked over there. There is parking everywhere. Anyone with an inch of space is charging to park. There are official parking areas that have trams taking you to the track or you can walk. Take the tram. Your plan doesn't sound all that great to me. Dropping him off won't be a problem, but after the race most of the roads turn into one way streets, so you will be hard pressed to get anywhere near the track. There is a tremendous outflow of cars and the police do a great job of getting them away from the track, but it will be nearly impossible for you to get close.

As much as I love NASCAR, the July race in Daytona is about as close to Hell as I ever want to come. The heat is incredible and the sun just bakes you. Maybe your husband could hang out at the ESPN Club on the Boardwalk and watch the race.

Good luck.

That's the thing. I was hoping there was a place far away from the track that a shuttle might go. Like here when we have a Titan's game, people park at malls and take busses to the stadium. Is there any thing like that or any other suggestions about getting from the track back to Orlando?

I did some 'net searching for some more information, but it didn't produce any good results. Shuttles/limos from Orlando to Daytona run about $150.00 one way and $220.00 and up for a round tripper.

I don't know what else to tell you, except go with hubby, park in the lots, cheer for Earnhardt, Jr. and have a great time!

::yes::

Thanks for the info. We'll have to do some serious thinking about it. But if he(or we) go, we wil be cheering for Dale Jr. also. Thanks again.

WooHoo! Finally 100. Something else I have to take into consideration is that the race doesn't start unitl 7 so it will be late when it's over. I'm also checking everything I can find on the internet.
I also just realized while looking up other sites that DIS has another meaning-Daytona International Speedway.
