OH they inject it with more than just dye. If you do a little investigative work you will find Dye is your least worry.

Wow, I have heard that but just figured it was urban legend. I DO buy my meat from Sam's Club ( I think they are owned by Wal-Mart) and it is awesome, really top quality. I don't know if this is the same meat sold by WM..

This thread is soooo funny to me, as I just recently did a 'rap' video about Walmart (I'm totally anti walmart) for a project in one of my classes last semester. Keep in mind, I'm 34, have no rhythm, and can't rap to save my life...but, the project got an A...lol

:rotfl2: Too funny!!!! You are good! Enjoyed your rap---> it deserves an A. :thumbsup2

Thank you!!! I just can't imagine spending a dime at a store that I know puts more and more people out of jobs in this country.

I guess it's really become a 'me me" country...sad...maybe that's why I believe in evolution so much...we are not progressing with a 'me me' society, we are degressing...we have gone back to the basics of doing only what's best for ourselves (ie saving money at places like walmart even if it means people losing jobs then getting rehired for far less money at a new walmart in their area) and just not caring who their decisions hurt. It's a revolving evololution.

I personally find supporting companies that promote selling to poor people repulsive, but, to each their own.

For those that support walmart, i hope you sleep well while there is an underage child oversees making your child's clothes. Oh..tomorrow is Sunday, you can go say 'sorry' and be forgiven...my bad

my town centers around a walmart. thats all we've got and we use it. I'm going tomorrow morning, infact.

I love it!

One-stop shopping. Lowest prices in town. Best selection of grocery items. :thumbsup2

Plus open 24-hours!

:confused3 Well, I shop there, dont like to, but really only place to buy groceries in my area unless you go to a grocery store that is 2 times more expensive. What is it, Aldies, Aldmans? :confused3 They just opened up, I thought about going there and checking them out. Anybody know anything about them?

I love my 2 closeby Walmarts.. They are nice and clean.. :thumbsup2 I prefer to shop there over Target any day.. I only go into Target maybe every 2-3 months at the most..

Very interesting thoughts. Which would you say is more detrimental to society (as a whole, not specific to any one section); Wal-Mart's position of marketing and promotion of sales to poor people/areas which puts a stranglehold on small business, thereby ending the ability for small businesses to thrive or the practice of outsourcing their labor to overseas entities who employ children?

I live about 7 miles from one Super WalMart and work by another. Both have been open over 10 years. Both are clean with well-lit parking lots, but my husband hates to go to the one by where I work. There are a lot of people that appear to not be native born (to put it politely) that shop at that store. My husband will not buy any meat from there after he saw one older woman speaking Spanish (she was berating some poor man that I assumed was her son) poking her finger thru the cellophane wrapping on the meat. She did this to several different packages (maybe she was looking for that dye someone mentioned earlier :confused3 ). He will do anything not to shop there. Anyway, I shop there on Black Friday, buy CD's there, and buy other stuff from cleaning supplies to storage boxes and get good prices in my opinion. However, there is no way shopping at WalMart can compare to shopping at Target. This really makes my life sound tragic, but shopping at Target is fun. I grocery shop at the Neighborhood Market and buy other staples and meat at Sam's (both WalMart stores) and think I save a lot of money over shopping at Albertson's, but I still like Target better, although I have no problem shopping and saving money at WalMart.

If someone wants to point fingers at stores that treat their employees poorly my DD worked at Hobby Lobby and the owner is on Forbes richest list. She said no one except the Manager, no matter how long they had worked there, made much, if any, over minimum wage.

Interesting questioning,,,Both are equally evil...walmart has promoted it's sales by in the areas you speak of aftrer stripping them of the options that could help the community. Walmart strips communities of both options IMO....they keep the poor thinking they have good jobs because they work at a place that 'everyone in powdunkville'' shops at, yet they don't tell the community that they have stripped their town and their fathers good paying jobs and future while doing it.

The teens that are now employed by walmart are usually living with an out of work parent that had a GOOD job, but, Walmart screwed em out of it. Why do we need people to make pants for $20 an hour when we can send that same job overseas for less than .05 cents an hour?

I would LOVE to hear from ONE person that lost a job that went on to get the same benefits, retiremenent ect at walmart and went on to make more than 30K a year (which is about poverty range...above in some places)

Clean to one person is filthy to another. :confused3 Wal-Mat has no QUALITY standards. Dirty-Dirty-Dirty stores!
I THINK that you are rude. I certainly know what dirty is. Our Wal-Mart store manager has standards unlike some posters.

My best friend (the mother to my God Daughter...I don't believe in god..so we call her my Darwin Daughter...anywho)

she works at a walmart...i hate walmart...i will not shop there...i'm anti walmart to the t....

but...I found out that some stores are 'corporate" and some stores aren't. the ones that are "corporate" get visiited by the higher ups, and are kept ckeaner...ther ones that aren't...noone really cares...

The cleanliness of the store is whether it applies to their 'corporate, we need to look good visit'

I must just live in a world of clean WalMarts, because none of the WalMarts, Sam's, or Neighborhood Markets that I shop at are dirty. But then, that is JMHO. I would never presume to say "everything" or "all" would be one way or the other (clean or dirty), not having had the luxury of visiting every darn WalMart in North America.

Well, my area is more "Boondocks" than "Podunkville" :teeth:, but I have seen Wal-Mart be the impetus for small businesses falling. Conversely, I have seen a death row prison as the impetus for Wal-Mart investing in the town, as well as McDonald's, Taco Bell...etc.

In regards to the job displacement/replacement theory, that may vary based on the area. You specified 30K as poverty range, I'm assuming that would be the lower end of the poverty range in most areas. The poverty range in my area is not 30K, that's a GOOD paying job. Most people here make right at or under 15K a year. For those of us who make more, it's either travel for a job in the city or get an education that will allow you to manuver through the changing workforce requirements.

As for the jobs that were displaced and replaced by Wal-Mart of which I have specific knowledge, the pay was comparable. What I found interesting was that the majority of new Wal-Mart employees found Wal-Mart to be a better job from the one lost as the previous employer didn't offer any benefits. However, this may be an anomoly specific to my area, so I wouldn't apply it to the larger Wal-Mart theory.

It's interesting what can change society and the changes society will allow for to accomodate such things, isn't it?

I really meant no disrespect for your area or level of jobs. Where I live, Walmart pays less than Mickie D's as a starting wage, has no benies, ect.

I understand that many areas think that their pay is helpful, but, as I wrote in my lyrics to the song, "Saving a buck costs too much"....

I cannot fathom someone promoting a company that takes good paying jobs away. I understand that people in this country do not make a lot, we can thank our Pres for that, but shopping at walmart will NOT get jobs back...the corporation heads make money while the working class suffers.

I personally would rather pay more at another store. That is not meant as being snobby, as I understand that many people do NOT have that option. I am very lucky...but, in the same token, until people realize that saving two cents at walmart costs the entire nation a LOT of money, it won't change.

Walmart will keep getting tax breaks, and americans will keep being put out of jobs..it's the american (the way Bush sees it) way...
