Ok Em...if you want to start a stupid dog thread, I'll start an awesome CAT thread! Show us your kitties!

I had better pics before my computer asplode, so I had to take some just now. My cats love to make adorable poses and then move at the last second before I take the pic. I managed to get a couple good ones.

Here is the Mommy (my baby, my child, my favorite ), Libby, age 2:



I just LOVE that little black line coming out from her left eye..it's my 2nd favorite thing about her...the first being the fact that she has 3 white legs and one brown and black striped leg. I joke that she reminds me of a car with a lot of different exterior parts: you know, like 3 different colored doors, different color hood, etc. Name fact: She is the baby of my ex's cat, one of a litter of 4 that I claimed. When I dumped him, I left his apartment with my stuff, including little "Squeaky" (her name at the time b/c of the sounds she made). He got mad at me for taking her and in the car on the way home I decided to name her Liberty because of my liberation from a bad relationship. Libby is a nickname, she's "Liberty" when she's a bad kitty.

Here is one of her babies (the only one we were able to keep ) Timmie, age 1:



Timmie is really the most adorable kitten ever but not very photogenic. All that hair gets in the way. She could feed an entire Third-Universe planet of starving hair-eating aliens if we shaved her. My favorite thing about her is her very soft white "beard". Name fact: we didn't know if she was male or female at first and she seemed a little slow and ran into things, so we thought she may be a little mentally challenged. So, we named her "Timmy" after the character in South Park. When we found out she was a girl, we changed the spelling to "Timmie".

Ok now that I've bored you with my pets that you probably don't care about, show me your cats! Or birds, or hamsters, or whatever. There is already a thread for stinky dogs, though! (Just playing, I like dogs. I had two growing up. I just became a cat person as an adult).

she was a rescue kitty, pulled her from some rocks out in the wild one winter...
she had poor eye sight, hence her name...

My dog would so beat your cat in a paw wrestling competition Mia! LOL. I like cats too, I'm just allergic to them. If a cat scratches or bites me, the mark instantly turns into a welted, itchy, and annoying mark.

This is sort of off topic, but I have a cat question, so I thought I'd ask it here and see if any cat lovers know the answer.

What is the average life span of a cat, in human years?

My mom has a cat that was born in 1988 (maybe 1987), so she's at least 17 in human years. Are cat years like dog years, which would make her 119 in cat? The cat's been an inside cat pretty much her whole life, is still playful, and still gets around fine. She doesn't really show any signs of old age, so I think she could easily hit 20, and I was wondering if that's a long time.

We had lots of cats growing up, but we lived in a very rural area with lots of coyotes around, so the cats were very lucky if they made it passed 5 years old, so I don't really know if 17 is a lot or not.

Hello - i am a big time cat lover and have owned cats for over 35 years. 17 years is a good long time for a cat to live. Your mother is very lucky. It is possible for her cat to live several more years, especially since you mention she is in good health.

Genetics play a big part in a cat's longevity. Also, keeping a cat inside, away from cars, predators, and risk of disease and infection help a lot. i am a stong believer in spaying and neutering cats, keeping them indoors, and getting regular health check-ups with a vet. We can do a lot to keep our cats happy inside with scratching posts and toys, and window perches so they can look outside for entertainment.

i lost a cat, my Mickey, just a couple months ago. He was only 9 years old, but was plagued for years with gingivitus stomatitis and other health problems. He had been a resuce, a feral, so who knows how his life began. We can just do our best we can to make their lives as good as possible, and accept when it's their time to pass on to kitty heaven.

i am lucky to have my other six kitty friends to keep me company. i would love to post pics of some of them, once i figure out how.

marypops, I used to have a dog named Muffin. Actually it was my parent's dog...he was around before me and was their Baby until I came along and ruined his life

stejohno, I have a cat named Timmie (as I said above) and your cat Tush looks just like her when she lays on her back! Only difference is about 10 more pounds of hair and her head is bigger (probaby b/c of the fur though).

Here's a story...when Empare came to visit me and my sis in Florida for a week last month, she stayed with me and CoughCoolGhoul since we have an extra bedroom. I had to leave the cats with my sister and her boyfriend...and they were NOT HAPPY. My cats are good (for the most part...of course they do the usual bad kitty stuff now and then). But my sister called the day Em left and was like, "COME GET YOUR @$%& CATS! They are unplugging my cable to the tv and tearing everything up!" I was surprised to hear that....but I guess they thought I abandoned them somewhere and freaked out. They were so happy to be home! Em, next time you visit, I think I will be boarding them
But don't let that stop you! I still want you to come back and bring your hubby this time!!!!!!

OK i love cats. I have four their names are Jasmin, Kitcat, mickey, max. Mickey and max are the oldest, and Kitcat and Jasmin are the youngest. Kitcat has a bad eye and we saved Jasmin because a lady was going to kill all of the kittens. I Don't remember how we got mickey and max. If I had pictures i would post them but I don't .

Besides Daisy the Wonder Dog, I do have two cats that have been with me since forever...they are 13 and 11 and I feel bad since Daisy is such an attention getter. I have no pictures but I will make it my duty to get some on the computer...sorry, Cleo and Harley...

I do also have a neighbor's cat who they never feed or take care of and since day one had decided to adopt my mother and I...shout out to my pal Rosario!

I also have a fish, won him at the State Fair 3 years ago...Maguro, love ya little guy...

Thats it...oh, and Stinky the skunk who visits every night...does he count?

We love both and have both - two dogs - Princess who is a lab/weimeramer mix and Maia - 11 mo Yorkie (aka Stitch - to give you an idea of her behavior) - on the feline side we have pastel calico sisters who are 4 - Emmie and Cassie, and are not really happy with all the "new animals" since they were part of the family first - and the newest addition - a tiger kitten - Daphne - who is 8 months old.

There is never a dull moment in our house - always someone getting into something or doing something silly!
