Our family of 5 will be staying @ the Poly on 8/29 thru 9/3 . We have 3 girls 15,11, & just about 7 ( we are celebrating the youngest 7th b-day while we are there. ) I would like to request a specific longhouse before we arrive. I was thinking about Samoa w/a volcano pool view if possible on the ground floor? Good idea ??? I just want something close to the pool & restaurants when were @ the hotel . Any info & thoughts would be appreciated. This will be our first visit @ the Poly. We've stayed @ the Beach Club in 2004 .
Thanks a Bunch

well my suggestion is not near the pool or restuarant.

Tahiti - but it has the biggest room. with a family of 5 - I would go for the most room.

I would request Somoa. We did that the last time we were there and they honored it. You are close to GCH, Captain Hooks's, Volcano pool, quiet pool and only a 10 min walk to TTC. We had a beautiful view on the second floor of the volcano pool with the GF right above it. It was quite a site. Enjoy your stay!

I would request Tokelua since the rooms are bigger and it's close to everything. If you do request Samoa I would request 3rd floor with the balcony. There is sometimes duck poop on the first floor patios. Also many people will be walking by and it can be noisy.

It was a rainy day - sorry. But it was sooooooooooo convenient. The GCH is directly to the left and the beach and water feature thingee is stone's throw to the right. Perfect for me and the kids.

Cool Pool, we were at the Polynesian at the same time. You got the room I wanted:laughing: ! We ended up in Rapa Nui parking lot side. I was initially disappointed but once we got to the room we were very happy there. Still had a nice view and it was so nice to have our rental car just steps from our room and to be close to the TTC.

To the OP, alot of people fret over which longhouse will be perfect for them. None are really that much farther to the GCH than the other (we're talking just a few minutes difference in walking time between the closest and the furthest from the GCH.) I am thinking that with 3 girls, you might appreciate the 2 sinks and ton of counterspace in the bathrooms of the "newer" longhouses - Tahiti, Rapa Nui, and Tokelau.

Have a great trip! ALOHA!:goodvibes

I promise PolyPal I didn't really expect it. We did a request and hoped for the best. When Duane showed us the location on the map, in a very matter-of-fact fashion I might add, I think I jumped up and down which is NOT something I'm prone to do at all. Wishing you the room location of your dreams next time!

But you are right about two sinks - we would have loved to have the extra sink which you don't get in Samoa.

I would also add that my daughter enticed the ducks over EVERY DAY and there was NEVER duck poop on our patio. Those brazen things do show up at your door though. I did have a noisy neighbor for part of the trip but we NEVER heard pool noise or walk-by noise. Urban legend.

CoolPool,
Another vote for Samoa/volcano pool side. Our last visit (in June), we were on the third floor at Samoa (rm# 3605). This was the view...

Thanks for the pictures & advice . Still undecided what to ask for. I guess I still have a couple of days.
Keep your thoughts coming...:goodvibes

How's Raratonga? We are staying at the Poly for the first time next month and I was thinking of requesting this longhouse. Any ideas?popcorn::

Raratonga and Niue (the little longhouse) are both really convenient to the GCH, monorail, and bus stop. If I requested Raratonga, I'd probably say "Rarotonga poolfacing room" or something like that to show that I'd prefer to look inward toward the resort. But that's just my preference.

Marty Joe, ya killin' me! What a view!

nevermind .....posted a link to a site that wasn't allowed...
Sorry

I'd suggest Samoa first (that's what my request is for next week) and Tokelau second. As for pool noise, I never heard very much of it. Just the usual pool sounds but nowhere near the volume you'd hear at say Pop or All Star Movies (those were some loud pool areas).

I had a first floor lagoon view room and never during my stay was there any 'duck poop'. The ducks came around to see if we would feed them and when we didn't they went on their merry way without leaving any 'presents'. ;)

We never had "gifts" from the ducks on any of our patios in Aotearoa, Tokelau, Tuvalu, Fiji or Rapa Nui. The ducks made their morning visit, saw that we weren't serving breakfast (we were tempted but were obeying the signs posted near Captain Cooks to not feed the birds), and then moved on to the next patio.

CoolPool, my view was better than yours, my view was better than yours...LOL, just kidding! We've never stayed in Samoa in 20 years of stays at the Polynesian, so I just have a little Samoa envy;) . One day as I was walking back to Rapa Nui from the Volcano Pool I did see a loud talking, SMOKING:scared1: guest sitting on a patio at the south end (closest to GCH) of Samoa. Hope that wasn't you!

PolyPal: I know who you are talking about! That was a blonde lady, right? Saw her smoking on the patio too- very brazenly. No, that wasn't me. I'm not blonde. I was at the opposite end - closer to the concierge building.

I was the lady who had two five year olds who loved to play with the shower tikiguy near the water feature. Sometimes they were stressing me so I'd have to go get a Mai Tai or a Pina Colada. So then that makes the lady with the drink in her hand who might have been related to two five year olds who thought the shower feature was the BEST.

We loved Tahiti, the rooms were very large and you have your own "private" beach right behind you! It is a bit of a walk to the GCH, but we didnt mind!

We also stayed in Tahiti and it was great. We loved being so close to TTC, easy walk for the boat to MK or monorail to MK or Epcot. We had a ground floor room so the "private" beach was awesome.:flower3:

CoolPool, yes she was blonde! And she looked...how do I say this nicely...um:eek: , oh never mind!
