Please feel free, anyone, to push this to the appropriate place if this isn;t it! We will be at ASM next June for 9 days with our family. I have a Nephew and his family that live in Fort Lauderdale, whom we see rarely. My question... would we be able to have them at our resort to swim and hang out on one of our non-park days? I"m going to go out on a limb and say this isn't allowed, but checking anyway. They may join us for a couple of days at the resort but that isn't decided just yet. Thank you!

Your visitors from Ft Lauderdale can hang out with you guys and do any activities, as long as it’s not explicitly stated that said activity is only for resort guests. Some activities like swimming in the pools are exclusive to guests. While some hotels like Swolphin have a thing called ResortPass where they could buy a pass to use the pools as non-guests, Disney’s resorts currently don’t have that.

Thanks for all of the feedback! I accept the rules on this, but honestly, how do they monitor such a thing?

Some resorts have CMs stationed outside the pool gates checking to make sure the people entering are guests. This is standard procedure at YC/BC, but I've also seen it happen (albeit less consistently) at other resorts too.

Inquire at the front desk when you check in. I had a local friend join me for the day a few years ago, and when I asked about how they would be able to get to the resort to visit me, I was also told they could use the pool if they wanted. (I did not ask, and they did not.)

Never hurts to ask.

Sometimes CMs are stationed outside the pool scanning for access, sometimes no one is scanning for access, sometimes they walk around to people at the pool to check room keys and party numbers on the reservations. It’s very random so you may or may not get caught. I would not want to get caught as Disney would then be within their rights to trespass the party, money paid for tickets/accommodations be darned.

FLL is not a short haul at 3-4 hours each way, if they’re going to all that effort I would want to make their visit worthwhile. Disney has their water park and Universal has a beautiful water park in Volcano Bay if Disney doesn’t seem like your jam.

We were at Poly last fall and watched a family do the walk of shame, marched out of the theme pool. When guests are paying big money to stay there (we were there as DVC members), it is irritating to have all the chairs taken by people not staying at the resort, honestly. They watch.

:rolleyes1

In addition to the pool itself, your family might very well be turned away at the gate when attempting to park.

Since they would be coming from Fort Lauderdale (as was mentioned, is NOT a short drive) you would be much better served all going to one of the water parks to hang out.

Resort guests are allowed visitors. Your visitors just need the name of the main guest on the reservation. The Guard will just confirm the name is in the system, and ask the driver to show their Drivers License.
Ah, that's good to know!
