Thank you! She did have a really good time. Learning to surf was something on her bucket list and since you can't really surf here in Michigan this lesson was a great opportunity!

As for the water....any guesses how she did?

I'm picturing surfboard in one direction, Caitlin upside down with only her legs sticking out of the water in the other direction. Still better then what I would be able to do.

The instructors didn't make her nervous and weren't too distracting either

So I thought I would come on here and do an update so I can save you from the suspense!

First there is some background information that my mom didn't add in the last update:

1.) This was my second time doing the surf lesson. I had originally done the surf lesson on my senior year trip in high school which was two years before this lesson Man I feel old! That lesson did not go well and I was ready to go back and try again.

2.) I had been practicing the pop ups for some months before the lesson. I do yoga on a regular basis and the pop ups are usually featured in yoga. The surfing style is somewhat quicker but still the same movement.

3.) I was very determined to at least master the small wave. When I get determined I am not going to give up until I get it right! Also the cute instructor made me want to be that much better!

4.) We lost our photopass card that had the surf lesson pics on it This was very upsetting because there are usually a lot of good pictures from the photopass photographers during the surf lesson. I actually have one hanging up in my room from my first surf lesson.

Well it was time to get in the water. I was a little bit nervous because like I said the last time I did this it did not go well This started off the same way.

First wave was a little shakey...

Also right after I got off my first wave a 13 year old girl was behind me and after she went under the water all of the instructors freaked out and turned off the wave pool to make sure she was okay. She has panicked when she hit the water and they were all afraid of her drowning. Needless to say this was the last time she got into the water. This meant even more time for our already small class to spend in the water.

Second wave....

Yes that is me pumping my fists in the air and yelling.. I was pretty excited I conquered the small wave

I highly recommend anyone that does the surf lesson to have their own surfboard handler

You get pretty worn out having to carry it yourself

I rode the small wave a couple more times. My only difficulty was you are supposed to stand when the instructor tells you to but I couldn't hear the other instructor only the cute one I wonder why that was

I eventually moved up to the big wave

Conquered that one as well!


One time when I was waiting for the wave the cute instructor began asking me about where I was from.

We talked about Michigan and EMU and it was a nice chat and he was very cute did I mention that?


I think in all we got about ten waves each and then we had to call it a day. I had a great time and I loved being able to actually surf this time! I was very excited but exhausted after this lesson!

After we were done it was time to get our surfing certificates

and take pictures with the cute instructors!

My parents were all ready to go buy tickets to the water park and stay here for the day and the cute instructor was staying to swim for a while but I was exhausted!

Next up: Do we spend the entire day sleeping?

It was a lot of fun! You get to learn a lot about Typhoon Lagoons wave pool too because they explain to you how it works before you get in it. It was a lot of fun!
