Who is going? When?

Thanks Nancy, she's had lots of trouble with her knees, this was her third knee surgery since we've gotten her 4 years ago. She is a very active dog and loves to jump which injury her knees. We need to work at keeping her from jumping and hopefully she won't have any more knee troubles.

Good luck with that.
If she loves to do it, it will be hard to stop her.

Good to hear, Bobbi. Keep up on that therapy. You'll do it for quite awhile, but so worth it. Super!!

And good to hear your doggie's knee surgery is doing well, Jean.

Just checking in. It is a quiet Sunday, a bit of therapy and hopefully a visit from a friend, as well as Tom. Last night was my best night as far as being restful.

Hope your doggie thrives, Jean!

Bobbi, keep up the good work, each day will get better.

Glad to read about Sandy doing so well.:dog:

I'm going home tomorrow. Looking forward to seeing our Belle. She's an 11 year old black lab. We all have to be vigilant so that I do not trip over her. We have done what we can to make our house friendly for rehab.

Great to hear, Bobbi. I recall going home, that first step toward normalcy.. Continued best wishes.

Well, I have been home for a week! I have been to out patient therapy, I'm doing my exercises, and slowly getting to be more flexible. There's a long way to go, but I am glad for what's behind me now.

Glad it is going so well for you, Bobbi......and you are being a good girl!

Great update, Bobbi. Keep up the good work, you will be pleased with the results. :cool1:

So, now I am 4 weeks into recovery. My angles are improving, but I am still stiff, so there's quite a way to go!

I hear you, Bobbi. Keep working at it, it will come. I was fine with my flexion early on, like 125, but extension was tough. After weeks of therapy though, I finally did get to 0. I was in therapy a total of 3 months. But worth it. hang in there, listen to and work with those therapists, they are you friends, though at times you would not think so, haha.

I totally understand "they are your friends, though at times you would not think so..!"

I still use a walker...how was your progression? Walker to cane, then nothing?

Good morning, Bobbi. Another day closer to your goal.

I was in in-patient nursing home for physical therapy for 15 days, 3 sessions a day. I used a wheel chair exclusively for about 5 days or so. Then a walker for the balance of the time at the nursing home. When I left, we did purchase a walker, but only used it to get out to the car to go home. I really never used it after that. I then started out-patient physical therapy for two month, one of 3 times a week, and 1 one of 2 times a week. I used the cane, mostly for stability and 'security blanket' for maybe another 2 weeks after leaving nursing home. Once a felt I was okay for not falling over, I gave up the cane. I still have one in the corner of our home's foyer, and one in my car, just in case, but have not used since, again, maybe 5 weeks after surgery. Your new joint is strong enough to support you and allow you to stand from the date of surgery. You are now just about three weeks, we all progress differently. Have you tried to just use the cane at all yet? It is just how long each of us get past that initial pain, and then when we feel comfortable and secure enough to move to the next level. I know at times it seems like it will never come, I felt that way with every discomfort and hindrance along the way. But, it will come, trust me. And then you will look back and be proud of your progress and achievements. Trust me, you will.

Thank you for telling me your time line, Dan. I am in my first round of 10 PT sessions. On June 5th, I will see my surgeon, that will be the 6 week mark. I'm told that he will most likely give me a script for 10 more PT sessions. I have only walked with the walker for the most part, but in the house, I have gone for short distances without it. I do not feel confident without it, but I had used a cane or walker for at least 6 months prior to the surgery.

Bobbi:)

Finally, I am ready to begin planning a Flower and Garden gals trip for next May! Will be booking next week!

September 21-28 this year, I'll be at Aulani! We and 4 friends are taking RCCL cruise to Hawaii!
