We will be there 11/23 - 11/28 for our second Thanksgiving in a row at WDW!! Had so much fun last year we had to return! We get away from extended family every Thanksgiving - that is our family tradition!! :earboy2:

We will be at BWI concierge and then CR atrium club! Anyone else?? :flower:

Happy planning!

This is the third year going down at Thanksgiving!!!! Staying at SSR 11/22 - 11/29.

You guys are making me really jealous! We were there last year for turkey-day week. We weren't able to take a vacation at all this summer, Mom was sick. I NEED a vacation. I may just have to get planning. I could afford it, but we had planned to start saving more.

We'll be arriving Turkey Day  for a 3-night at CSR followed by 6 nights at POP. About 5 years ago I discovered the discounted flights available on the holiday and we've "ditched" the family every year since :rotfl2: I agree with an earlier post about the three days of work involved in Turkey Day, then the clean-up with kids hanging on the legs while the guys watch Football, all for 15 minutes of eating??? The women in my family, DM, DS, and DSL, all started this Turkey Day strike together 5 years ago and although my kids and I usually head south, the other women in my extended family take off to Kittery, ME and Conway, NH for a massive Xmas shopping trip until the Tuesday after the holiday, leaving the kids and their fathers and Papa to fend for themselves. We never ask just what exactly happens though :rotfl2:

This is the first year our family is going down for Thanksgiving & I can completely relate to your comments below. Every year we would DRIVE 4 1/2 hours across new england...to arrive exhausted at the in-laws home...then spend the next several days getting on one anothers nerves...and yes eat for 15-20 minutes. What a waste of a week off! This year - we invited the inlaws to come with us on vacation. So we are still - giving thanks with family - the only difference is - we are actually going to be enjoying ourselves. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

My husbands family has always scattered at Thanksgiving so we have usually gone out to eat at a restaurant. This year we may start a new family tradition.

Who else has decided to ditch their extended family and head over to WDW during Thanksgiving?

And where are you staying.

We will be at the Poly for the first time since 1971!

My DH ,2DS's, and I will be at SSR from 11/20-11/28. We will be celebrating our son's 16th birthday, our 17 year old's senior year in High School, and our nineteenth Anniversary! I love WDW during Thanksgiving and love the fact that I don't have to cook and clean up for 15 people this year! Usually feel guilty about leaving home for WDW...for about 15 minutes or so!

We will be taking our kids 6 & 9 for their first trip arriving on Turkey day and staying until the 30th! I am getting so excited. :cool1: :Pinkbounc  :Pinkbounc

DS16 and I will arrive at VWL on Saturday, 11/19, and leaving Friday, 11/25, for our first trip during Thanksgiving.

DS 14 and I will be staying those dates too but we are at POP!

We are there 20 to 26. Staying at FW in our pop-up. eating at Hoop Dee Doo for Thanksgiving

This will be our 3rd Thanksgiving trip for me and 3 DD's but the first Thanksgiving trip for DH. (I can't believe he finally chose WDW over hunting !!! :earseek: )

I was very disappointed about the AP changes in booking rooms and we missed our threshold, so we tried Priceline for the first time and we are staying at Gaylord Palms for $83/ night. We are excited to try this resort.

I so identify with you guys about Thanksgiving. It used to be my least favorite holiday, till I started going to WDW!!! Now I love it! My MIL is less than pleased about it- she thinks I'm crazy.

Yep my crazy self will be enjoying a nice big Thanksgiving dinner that I did not have to cook, serve or clean up after. I'm going to spend the week in a lovely resort instead of cleaning up my house to prepare for the hoarde of people that will invade it and then cleaning up the mess when the hoarde moves on.
I am going to the spa instead of the crowded supermarket.
I am going to spend the whole week with my favorite people in the whole world in our favorite place in the whole world, instead of slaving in the house and kitchen for a week with no quality time to spend with them.

If it is crazy I be then it is crazy I'll stay!!!!!

Woo Hoo!!!! Thanksgiving at WDW!!!! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

This will be our first trip over Thanksgiving. Arrive 11/20 to 11/25.

Ugadog99, since this is your third trip over Thanksgiving, can you describe the crowds during this time period. Through this forum, I understand that Thanksgiving Day through the weekend are bad, but what about the weekend upto Thanksgiving?
