Who is going in august/when/where

This was the second week, when all the local passes were blocked. Average morning for mid week August last year.

Jack

You have me 2nd. guessing whether or not I should be going in August.

Actually I'm hoping we picked a pretty good week. As I mentioned, all the schools should be starting up the week we go. If not, then we'll have fun regardless I'm sure. We've dealt with the crowds before. We'll be there a week, so I'm sure we'll get to do everything. If not, good excuse to go back again.

You will have a great time, some people do not realize that it does get crowded, but everything is manageable with a plan. Other than WSU our schools do not start until after the holiday and I know a number of folks who will be headed down at the same time you are. I speak from experience when the Socal passes were unblocked in a late August trip. I shy away anymore, getting too old.

Now this picture looks a little better. More manageable crowd.

Does DL and CA do any type of rope drop events? Is it beneficial to get there right at park opening? Just like at WDW.

Dl seems to do rope drop when they feel the crowd will be huge, DCA does rope drops for the one ride i can never think of the name of at the end of the park..I personally it is better to get going when the parks open..I am always up at 0415-0430 so it makes no difference...might as well get going.

We will be there 8/2 - 8/7, staying at the HoJo. It will be DW, DS, and DD's first time - I went once for a day back in 1989 on a high school band trip. We are WDW vets, so we are looking forward to the differences and new experiences.

We are planning on going to the parks each day except Saturday (the 4th) when we are planning a trip to see Hollywood, Beverly Hills, and possibly one of the beaches.

I have been going since 55 and every year there are changes, some small but worth going to every year. You will have a great time, hope you read Hydroguys tips for WDW people(never been there myself). Just spent a week in your state 2 weeks ago, my son is stationed at Sheppard AFB, in WitchaFalls. Working on being a UAV sensor operator, then OCS then pilot(at least that is what he thinks.

I did read Hydroguy's tips. Great read.

I am ex-Air Force - though I was never stationed in my home state. Have a friend who graduated Air Force Academy and did the Sheppard AFB stop for some pilot training. He is a C-17 (cargo plane) pilot, just pinned on Major.

I wish your son luck and hope he can get OCS.

I am also ex-Air Force, 1T2X1, nam. 3.5 tours. he has one 4 year degree and working on another. Thanks for the well wishes.

Cool. I have a buddy in ParaRescue stationed in Florida. I don't remember my AFSC numbers. I was Air-Launched Missile Systems first, then cross-trained to Satellite & Wideband Communications. The latter got me into a Combat Communications Group... so I traveled the world for a few years. I did enough 'camping' during those years to last a lifetime. When DW mentions camping I try to divert by mentioning Disney. :lmao:
