Who is going in august/when/where

I stopped posting on this thread because I saw another that was started last year but have not seen it since. I have done this the last couple of years along with a day by day blog when I am in the park with pictures.
I would be glad to continue if there is an interest, if not I will let it go.

Must keep this thread going!!! Love the chatter and the pics. Plus it will be a whole new touring plan after CarsLand...this is my go to thread!

North Central WA state heated up to a balmy 92 degrees today giving us a taste of summer. I'm feeling the need for a frozen strawberry lemonaide from DL!

Hi to all,
Darren from Australia, there will be 7 of us going Aug/26 to Sept/5 staying at the Islander Inn and Suites. Long story short we were only taking our Grand daughter to Disneyland, Early this year she suffers from separation anxiety because our Daughter was electrocuted from the washing machine. Daughter is fine and doing well, we had our Grand daughter over a few times to get her used to being away from Mum, she is good for a few days and when she wants her Mum, she wants her Mum, So after working out the budget we can afford to pay for our Daughters and Son in law airfares and asked them to come and we also have a 14 month old Grand son, and our Son said he wants to come too. So we might as well make this a family trip what a blessing that has turned out to be. So there will be seven of us coming to Disneyland, We are very happy Grandparents to be able to take this trip. Grandparents trip number 5, Son trip number 3, Daughter trip number 2, Son in law, Granddaughter, Grandson trip number 1.

We're looking at going at the end of August, probably August 22-29 if everything falls into place! We'll be traveling with another family and we hope to hear today if their vacation request is approved... crossing our fingers, toes, and eyes!!

I've been to DLR twice while at a work conference down the street (Couldn't be a mile and a half away and not go!) and my friend went when she was 8, but for the husbands and the kids it will be their first time. The kids are going to do a YES class (Animation one) and they're excited about that!

I hope to be making plane reservations and buying our YES tickets tonight!! And then to figure out where we're going to stay....

Love to see the pictures... gets me excited!!

This is about 1230 on a Wed in CA.

That crowd looks do-able. Wonder what DCA will look like when Carsland opens up?
I can only imagine what BVS and Carsland will do to the crowd levels, if I make it this year, I will have lots more photos to share with those going in 13.

Our family will be visiting the DL Resort Aug 4th thru the 11th and staying at the BWPPI&S. There will be 8 of us. DH and myself (both 55), DD and SIL and their precious kids DGD 3yrs. old and DGS 5 months old and our DD and her precious litlle 2 yr. old.

The DH and I just returned from our first DL trip Apr. 28th thru May 5th. (We are WDW vets with over 25 trips under our belts). We had a fabulous time and are really looking forward to sharing the DL magic with our kids and grandbabies. We were on a sort of scouting mission on the first trip. Getting a lay of the land , seeing what would work transportation wise and scoping out the meal choices.

The attraction lines were totally amazing. We never waited for more than 10 min. for a ride the entire week. I am sure the lines will be alot longer in August and the crowds larger, but we are determined to make this a wonderful trip.

Hope to see some fellow DISers during our visit.

Welcome to the West side! :grouphug: Yes, August will much more crowded than your recent trip, but, IMHO, totally doable. I hope you will enjoy the time with your family. DLR is a really magical place to share with your loved ones! :goodvibes

We need to keep the thread going! Jack does an excellent job. The planning and anticipation of a trip is half the fun!

Can't wait until we can make some dining plans. I really want to try Cathay in August.

I agree. Jack has been doing a great job. I'm right with you on the dining. DW and I will be celebrating our anniversary, so can't wait to book Steakhouse 55. Still trying to figure out what else we want to eat. There are some favorite restaurants outside of Disney we will probably go to, that we don't have where we live. As we get closer, I"ll start making a list of everywhere we want to eat. Get opinions on some of the better CS meals.

Thank you from another TriCitian. I find it fun when I have the time.

The excitement of the rope drop...this went all the ways back to the firestation, we were about 8-10 rows back from the front.

Which way do most people tend to go from there? Left, Right or Straight?

I guess it has a lot to do with what your party wants to do early, if MM we head for PP, if not we go left for IJ and start collecting fastpassses.
When the rope drops everyone scatters, just to bad that some people do not understand, "No Running."

DH, DD(7) and I will be at the Disneyland hotel from July 29-August 3. We'll be in California until August 10 but not sure where yet. DH has a conference July 29-August 3 at the hotel so kid and I are tagging along!

Jack, do you recall how early you arrived to get so close to the front?

(This was a non Magic Morning day, and DL opened at 8:00am, right?)

Thanks. :)

We are always close to first at security and not far behind to the gates, about 50 minutes is usually the average. We are normally up at 0430 in our normal lives so we get the move on. We do this year to year so it is not a change for us. This was an 8 AM opening.

No Running?! Man you take all the fun out of it. I was going to sprint over to Splash Mountain to be the first in line. :rotfl:

The finger/toe/eye crossing stuff must have worked because our trip is a-go! Vacations were approved all around and we managed to get our flights.:goodvibes August 22-29... look out California, here we come!

Getting the flights was no small ordeal... DH had enough Skymiles for 2 flights, I had enough for 1 flight, and our friends had enough for 1, but decided to pay cash for all 3 instead and save their miles. Thank goodness for the helpful Delta customer service rep we talked to. She tipped me off to being able to hold a rewards flight for 2 days without having to commit and Delta's 24 hour cancellation policy on purchased tickets. We were afraid we'd get one reward flight booked and then the miles would go up for the other ones. It involved lots of logging in and out, but we got it all set and were able to do it from our computer without having to pay to do it over the phone! :cool1:

We're thinking we'll do two nights in San Diego (deciding what we want to do... Sea World? San Diego Zoo? Tidal pools?) On Friday we'll head up to Anaheim, then Saturday we'll do the YES class at DCA with the kids, Sunday head to the beach/Hollywood, then Monday and Tuesday back to DL/DCA, and then head home on Wednesday. A nice variety of things to do!

Now to get our hotels figured out... :) I'm so excited for this vacation!!
