Who is going for Mardi Gras 2009?

My Avoyelles parish family and I are going to WDW for MG 21-28th and I get to spend my BD (feb 27th) in the parks. We are going along with two other families from 'The Parish" also. It's gonna be a lot of fun.

Geaux Tigers!!!

It's so refreshing to see so many other Louisiana folks driving to the world! :thumbsup2 I'm bracing myself for a long drive with a 7 year old. But, we're almost at a month!

Count me in, too!! Yippy!! Will be there 2/23 – 3/1 at BWV for the first time!

Although we didn’t go last year, we love going at Mardi Gras - moderate crowds and usually good weather. Wear your purple, GREEN, and gold! :upsidedow Can’t wait.:)

I know what you mean. We have a 7 yo son; starting to tell him it will take all day to drive there. Can't believe we'll be in our condo exactly five weeks from tonight ... resting up for MK on Sunday!

we'll be there! Curious about the crowds for MG. Any park buzier than others? We'd be happy to avoid that park so ya'll can party. No offense...I'd love to be there but we have a 1 and 3 year old so a quiter park is a good option for us.

I know a lot of universities around here are on spring break then too. Is this going to make the crowds crazy?

I don't think you have to worry too much about any rambunctious crowds during Mardi Gras, to be honest. Most of us who go to WDW during that time would rather avoid that kind of atmosphere. Well, at least that's how I feel. ;)

And as far as I know, there really isn't any designated park days for anyone, so you shouldn't have to worry about going to any particular park and expect to see a sea of green, purple, and gold. =D

Ditto! I've been trying to explain to my niece that it's going to be a really long drive. I think we're going to drive through the night/morning on Friday/Saturday and just hope that she sleeps through most of it. *crosses fingers*

Court,

I know what you mean, we are gonna pull out of here around 8:00 and drive through the night and get most of it under the belt while the family sleeps. We are travelling with a DS (9) DD(7) and DS (.5). It's all gonna be good though. It's my kids first time and I can't wait to see there faces when we arrive.

We'll be leaving around 10 or so to ensure that my niece is asleep before we start the drive. She'll be in pajamas, have her blanket and pillow, etc before we take off. Hopefully, we'll make it there without many stops aside from refueling and breakfast.

Your kids are going to have an amazing time! It's definitely a memorable experience to see your kids (my niece is practically my daughter) see those things for the first time. ;)

That is great cjlemoine and court4short that ya'll will get most of your driving done at night. Don't think I can pull that off. I'm working on Friday and need to get some rest. Believe it or not I, not dh, will probably do most of the driving. The rest of our group is my mom, 20 yr old nephew & his girlfriend (in a second vehicle).

Howdy Neighbor!!! We're from Houma, and we'll also be staying (for the first time) at our home resort (we have DVC) SSR at the same time

We're bringin the family- My wife, two boys- 6 & 11, and my mom and stepdad. We've been counting the days!!!

Hope you have a magical trip!!!

What's up!

Add us to those who will be at the world for Mardi Gras.

We'll be at SSR from 2/21-2/27 for our first DVC trip.

We are officially 4 weeks exactly from leaving today. These next 28 days better fly by. I can't wait to be back.

Hey, what happened to your trip report. I had subscribed to your pre trip report from last year (Mardi Gras 2008). I was wondering what happened to you the other day. I am glad to know you are still here.

We are leaving Fri. around 2pm and plan on stopping in Tallahassee for the night. I have a 4yr old and one straight shot coming home is enough. :hyper: We have a tv, toys and all but that's still not enough for him. Plus I have a 14yr old and a 10yr old who just love each other to death. We should get to the Poly around 1ish. Plenty of time to just do whatever we fell like. Everyone have a magical vacation. pixiedust:

I can answer for you. Both of us requested Grandstand. He originally was planning on Springs, but he changed his mind last summer. They ate at Earl and went back to a park. They caught the bus at the Springs, and it was packed. It kind of turned off him and Alisa.

We are leaving Friday afternoon as well. Our plan is to get as far as Marianna but Tallahassee would be better.
