Mal, to be judged, Celebration has to be the FIRST word in the name (probably so they can just scan a sorted list of names and just go to the Celebration ones).

I wasn't even thinking of entering either of the contests, but for some reason, I have a dumb idea that might just be cheesy enough to attract the amusement (or horror?) of the judges. It would take cooperation and practice, but...

... for the "Celebrate" theme, has anyone noticed that Kool and the Gang's lyrics for Celebration are almost all words you can say in VMK? Maybe just a stanza or two:

I was thinking of a stage set-up with a 'lead singer' and then behind, maybe on crate pedestals 3 backup 'vocalists'. In front of the 'stage', there would be stadium seating. Judicious use of magic (definitely fireworks, some pirate 'glitter' effect, Bling, and maybe even invisibility; if we could get people with Inferno, that would obviously look good on the lead person) as well as 'fans' planted in the audience. Separate area for audience to dance too?

This would take cooperation and organization (which in itself is good). Of course, any item prizes would need to be shared, or loaned around, and perhaps if there was a room prize it could be donated as another Dis room.

Corny? Definitely... But corny enough to work? I don't know. What do you all think?

Devil's advocate -- Reasons why it wouldn't work:
- anyone wanting to enter their room would not be able to participate, because they need to be in their own rooms
- too many people in room, and judge(s) won't be able to enter
- judges may need to speed-tour a LOT of rooms, and won't be able to stay for long enough to see a "show"
- finally, there's not much time to plan and coordinate this kind of undertaking (on the other hand, at least it's on Sunday)

Celebration Showdown
When: Sunday July 17, 3:00pm — 10:00pm Eastern
Theme: Celebrations

Specifics: The room name MUST start with the word celebration to be eligible. Judging begins at will occur between 10:00pm and midnight Eastern on Sunday. Room owner must be in their room to be judged. Any rooms not completed and named properly by this time cannot be considered. Only one room may be entered per Player, please. Winners will be announced on Monday in our Newsletter.

And what is happening between 3p and 10p EST anyway? Just having people come by? Well, we'll see what happens on Saturday for the Space theme contest.

I think it is a great idea. I would be willing to help. I am not going to enter the contest, I was just going to hang out and watch everything. If you decide to do this let me what you want me to do.

Too bad we can not get Hagen's band to perform? I wonder if they would do Kool and the Gang?

Reason's why it WILL work
*It is different than many ideas I have heard. Heck, all I was doing for the Space theme was decorating my room LOL. You have an "ensemble" going on here!

*Not everyone is working on a room for "Celebrate". I for one am up for this challenge and plan on not decorating my own room. But i really want to be involved in the idea.

* Just keep it to around 10 people or so. I am sure so many people will be in their own rooms that you won't have a problem with "onlookers".

*So the judges do a speed tour! They can easily enter a room and we get into action and show our stuff for a minute or so. I feel it is worth the effort.
Even if this means we do the same songf and dance over and over for two hours so when the judges enter, they see this room under "Celebration" Spell. Ooo...that could be good. Under a spell...LOL

So that is my thoughts on it.

Your idea sounds really great -- and original too! I like the idea of the magic display coinciding with the dancing. A real awesome show!

But as you said, the organization and timing might be difficult Hope it works out for you, if you go ahead with it!


I do want to invite everyone who is not entering a room in the contest to participate in my CELEBRATION QUEST FOR GOLD game that will be starting on Sunday at 9 PM Eastern time.

Grand prize is a pair of the coveted GOLD Mickey ears!

Game starts promptly at 9 PM Eastern and first one to answer all ten questions correctly wins. It is similar to the quest games in the real parks, in that you have to find the answers within VMK. I have two rooms involved in the game - a "question room", where the game begins and the photo album is placed out with the questions -- and an "answer room", where I will be waiting for all ten answers to be given in order. (Answers are given in a trade, so as not to reveal them to everyone in the room).

Nope, sorry, I probably read it and then forgot by the time I got down to the bottom -- glad you're all fixed up.

And I don't think you have to worry about the idea -- no time! Work is really crunching me. So between lack of time and credits (no way could I furnish an entire show theatre), despite the volunteers for help, I don't think it'll be for this time. I've been on VMK all of half an hour today, and tomorrow is a fix the car / get chores done day. But if anyone else wants to pick up the torch, I'd be happy to help out!
