Who Invited My Mother In Law? A Moderately Deluxe TR All New X 3 & PTR Link 2/3 !!

I have a confession to make...
I'm a lurker! I know, its shameful!
But, I've been reading your TR for some time now, and it's awesome. You're a great storyteller, and Maddie is adorable. Can't wait to hear more about you're adventure!

Admitting to being a lurker is the first step toward fixing the situation! :lmao:

Seriously, welcome and thanks for joining in!

I really appreciate the kind words-and I hope to get an update done tomorrow!

Great update; I'm glad you guys enjoyed Cape May. We had great company at ours, but the food not so much.

Love that Maddie wanted to dress as Jasmine; does't every child use those ledges as a balance beam?

Thanks Kathy! I'm so sorry that you didn't enjoy your meal at Cape May. We've always had the best food there.

I think they do-until they fall off. :lmao: Luckily we haven't had that happen yet.

Ahh, the Epcot resort area. So beautiful. :cloud9:

Glad you enjoyed your dinner! I admit, I'm not a seafood person, but those rolls look fantastic! And the Oreo bon bons... oh yum. I can just tell they're divine.

That area is just beautiful isn't it? I've always dreamed of staying at the CR or PR and being MK adjacent, but in the last few years I've really fallen in love with the Beach Club. We stayed at BWI on our honeymoon and it was amazing, but I love the vibe of the BC.

The rolls were to die for. I can't believe that I didn't spend more time on them. They were hot and garlicy and buttery perfection.

Oh the Bonbons. They are amazing.

I made the mistake of reading this last chapter at lunchtime, and now my ham sandwich seems strangely inadequate. :confused3:rotfl2:

Sorry about that. I bet the ham sandwich wasn't as good as the crab legs.

Cape May looks great--and I don't even like seafood! That's probably why we never tried it. Maybe I need to re-think that...

They have always had a pretty good non-seafood selection as well. I've really enjoyed the beef on our last two trips, and I think there may have been chicken too? The soups were awesome, and so were the salads and sides. Try it some time!

And tell hubby there's no judgment on quantity of food eaten. We all know that calories don't count on vacation. :thumbsup2

He'll be glad to know that you guys are on his side. I need to remind him that there are men on the DIS who understand. :thumbsup2

Haha! There are so many small kids that I see going on ToT, there was a mother last week who was all "she handled Soarin fine, she'll be fine on this" uhm....not really the same ride lady... I was surprised with the amount of kids that love ToT haha, I would be terrified at that age!

:scratchin yeah, I think that Soarin's a bit different. :rotfl: Poor kids!

Ugh, when I have little princesses, I'll be the one telling them to wear the princess dresses every day, all day, heck, there'll be so many disney costumes, they'll have like, 5 a day, Imma spend all my money on Etsy for them! HA!

I was honestly surprised that she didn't wear her princess stuff more often. I haven't let myself peruse Etsy too much. I spend enough at the Disney Store.

Cape May looks great! I'm not a huge seafood fanatic, but I could definitely try it out one of these days!!

It's so good! I'd recommend it to anyone!

I love those Oreo Bon Bons but I also read they are GONE!

Isn't that incredibly sad? I'm so upset.

Your review makes me want to go back to Cape May. I'm glad you all enjoyed your meal.

Maddie looks adorable as Jasmine. I hope she is enjoying kindergarten! We are in a routine finally.

We've loved it there! It's one of our must dos.

Thanks Megan. Glad that you guys are getting settled in. I never realized how much busier I'd be with kindy vs. preschool. it's crazy!

Playing catch-up from things I missed while we were at WDW!

Cape May--YUM! We ate there when I was pregnant with Sawyer, and I totally let the baby be the excuse for my eating a dozen of those Oreo bon-bons AND a lava cake they were testing out. Loved it! I need to go back. I'll add that one to "The" List;)!

Does Maddie open all those crab legs by herself?! Because I'm not good at it and I'm nearly 30! (Doesn't stop me from eating a ton, though. I just get really messy and look awkward...you know, the usual...)

We love Cape May! In normal life, I'm not a buffet person at all, but we love this one! You should keep a buffet or two, you'll need to be 'in training' for the cruise!
:rotfl2: You have a point! I am actually thinking we might hit up Chef Mickey's this year. We went in 2010 but not 2011, and I think I would really like to try dinner there. I know it's not the greatest food, but we had SO much fun at Goofy's Kitchen at DLR for dinner that I think we could really enjoy CM's for dinner - did breakfast there last time, and you know how much I love breakfast. :crazy2:

Maddie was pretty unsure of crab legs until she realized that you can dip them in butter. Then she was all in.
OMG - I never thought of that!!! Willow may totally go for that! :rotfl2:

I love that little Jasmine costume too. I'm so glad that she waited to get it at WDW. Perfect for warm weather. We're currently debating the Halloween costume. I want her to 'save' one of the ones she really wants for the next BBB trip, but of course she's five and wants them now. I know she'd never choose Snow White at BBB, so I'm pushing for that one knowing she wants to do Rapunzel or Cindy on the next vacation. What is Willow dressing as for Halloween this year?
Oh, Shannon, I'm not even sure I want to say what Willow is doing for Halloween. She decided on a costume last November and has NEVER wavered from it! :scared1:

Okay - she is planning to go as Michael Jackson, Smooth Criminal. Seriously. My friend who made the Jolly Holiday dress is creating it for her. :confused3

We always have such a great time at Chef Mickey. I think you girls should go for it. I figure at this age the character meals are worth the sacrifice my stomach pays.:rotfl:

That's really all Maddie needed to hear. :rotfl: Try it!

OK, that? IS AWESOME!!!! How freaking cool. I've always been a HUGE MJ fan (had all the Michael stuff when I was Willow's age!) so this is amazing to me. You HAVE to share pics when you get them. Willow is such a cool kid.

Hey guys! Sorry I didn't get an update done this week. I spent my days off searching for a new job (which I landed and start next week!) and visiting Bryan's Aunt in the ICU. Good thoughts would be appreciated. She's in for quite a battle. Anyway, I promise to get an update done as soon as I can. Have a fantastic weekend everyone!

Welcome back! Can't wait to hear about the trip!

I wish I had an excuse for the amount of bonbons I put away, but alas I had nothing but gluttony. :lmao: It's so good, we love it there.

:rotfl2:Nope, her dad and I do it for her. Luckily he's an expert crab leg opener so we get through them pretty quickly. He always says that he gets tired of cracking before he gets full though.

Okay, sending good thoughts your way for Bryan's Aunt.
Also congrats on finding the new job!

Also, in reference to MJ and Halloween... We have outdoor speakers that we hook up to an ipod for special occasions. At Halloween, I play Halloween music. This little boy... probably around 7 yrs old... dressed up as MJ, comes up to the house. And purely by coincidence, what should start playing just then? Yup, Thriller. It was so perfect that his mom asked if we saw him coming and put it on just for him.

 That cracks me up - I was, of course, a teen when Thriller came out. I remember my mom taking me to Vancouver to see one of the Victory Tour concerts. Amazing! Still, I had no idea that Willow would become SO obsessed when I introduced her to MJ's music. :confused3

I will definitely share pics. I am struggling right now with finding a white fedora. Gah!

looking forward to the next chapter.

Hello! I've just caught up with your wonderful TR! It looks like your daughter will have the most amazing memories from Disney. My thoughts are with your family and for a speedy recovery for your aunt!

Loving the report. We were at WDW in June but reading this is making me miss it even more, LOL. DH decided he wants to celebrate our 10th anniversary at WDW next October! So I am busy planning. We are doing PORFQ based on your report and others. We have always stayed at CBR so I am looking forward to the change. Now Cape May is being included in our dining adventure. Thanks again and prayers are being sent for Bryan's aunt.

Woo hoo, back from vacation and all caught up!! You have convinced me that we need to rey Cape May Cafe. It seems as the reviews vary a lot, but most of your reviews have been close to what I think, like or don't like about the restaurants you have reviewed.

So happy for Maddy that she enjoyed TOT this time!!! She looked beautiful as Jasmine with her princess hair!!

Looking forward to more!!

Thank you all so much for the congratulations and for the thoughts and prayers.

We had excellent news today-after 12 days Aunt Pat is off the ventilator and awake. She still has a fight left to go, but this is much, much better news than we've had yet.

You guys are the best. I seriously don't know what I'd do if I didn't have my DISFriends. Thanks for EVERYTHING guys! :grouphug:

I wish I could help with the fedora. I'll keep an eye out online. I began to love MJ by coming a little late to the Off the Wall party. I had school folders that looked like the OtW album cover, buttons, and A PURSE with his face on it. Then of course I ended up with a necklace of the glove, and a shirt with only the sparkly white glove. Having said that, I'm incredibly jealous that you got to see him in concert. What I wouldn't have given!!!

Thank you!

We love POFQ (Bryan preferred it to CBR), and of course we love Cape May! I so hope that you'll enjoy them both!

Thank you

I so hope that everyone who enjoys seafood gives CMay a try. We've always enjoyed our meals there!

Thank you! She was so excited!

After a great meal we headed back into Epcot via the International Gateway (so convenient!) for a relaxed evening of wandering.

IMG_5070.jpg

Our first stop was the UK pavilion.

Maddie wanted in on the action

IMG_5079.jpg

I was on a mission to find some fun Queen merch (the Freddie Mercury kind, not the long live the kind). My rock t-shirt collection was woefully short on Queen and Aerosmith stuff and it was high time that changed. (Incidentally, I did have one other Queen shirt-a very simple purple T with the word Queen and the band logo on it. One day without realizing it I dressed Maddie in a pink shirt that read: Princess while I was wearing the Queen shirt. Since we weren’t at WDW at the time it was a little embarrassing for me when EVERYONE that we encountered that day commented on it).

So anywho we were browsing the UK pavilion for some new stuff for mommy. Luckily the Beatles selection was mostly for men so that didn’t tempt me. I did find 2 Queen shirts that I wanted, but I really only felt that I should get one. Sweet Bryan disagreed, and I left with both—wear them all the time too! Perfect souvenirs.

We took the bridge toward France stopping for some topiary and PP pics and then made our way into the pavilion.

Bry needed to use the restroom, so while he took care of business Maddie and took pictures of all the topiaries in the area to the far right of France. We saw a PP photog just kind of standing around there, so we asked her to take our picture. She seemed very confused about why we would ask that, and asked where we would want to have our pictures taken, but in the end she did it. While I was wondering why the CM was acting so weird, Aurora emerged! So that explained the loitering PP CM, and since there was no wait Maddie took the chance to say hello to an old friend.

We moseyed around World Showcase counterclockwise not really stopping, just enjoying the perfect weather and the beauty of it all.

IMG_5111.jpg

We did pause in Germany, poked into the Caramel Shop (still too full. Damn you Cape May and your delicious Oreo Bonbons!!), and wandered the shops trying to decide what we might bring home for Uncle Cory’s souvenir. We saw Snow White out meeting the people, but her line was closed for the evening. Maddie was okay with it knowing that we’d be back for our full Epcot day the next day.

IMG_5112.jpg

IMG_5114.jpg

IMG_5113.jpg

Finally we’d wandered all of World Showcase (Canada excepted, but we’d spend plenty of time there the next day) so we headed toward the Land Pavilion to use our Soarin’ FP.

IMG_5120.jpg

Along the way we encountered another PP CM, so I decided to ask if she might be able to do some magic shots for us. I’ve never gotten up the nerve to ask before, but since she had no one in line I did it. She was very sweet about it and agreed to try but warned us that they might not turn out since they’re supposed to be done in full sunlight. As it happens, she was right, but we did get some cute pictures anyway.

Photo0592FourBySix.jpg

Photo0596FourBySix.jpg

Finally it was time to ride Soarin’. The FP line was pretty long at that time, we waited almost 20 minutes, but the standby time was 45. Maddie was really excited to ride- she didn’t really seem to have a good memory of riding it the year before-and she was not disappointed. She giggled the entire ride and declared that it was a new favorite of hers.

None of us really felt like staying for Illuminations (and we could see a lot of it from CBR anyway) so we made our way toward the exit. We stopped for more PP of course, and then waited briefly for a bus to return us to CBR.

Photo0600FourBySix.jpg

Maddie was in a very silly mood that night giggling away during the short ride back to the resort. Once off the bus, the silliness continued. She sang and danced her way across the bridge. There were groups of cheerleaders everywhere, and as we were stepping off the bridge Maddie heard one of them begin to scream. She shouted “Don’t be scared- it's just my ‘Moves like Jagger’!”

IMG_5125.jpg

With that we settled into our room and went to bed very shortly after that. The alarm was set for 6:15 as we had yet another important breakfast to get to.

A few comments:

I'm sorry to hear that Bryan's aunt was in ICU, but glad that she is getting better.

Love your tropical dress, at least you got to wear it on your international tour! lol

Now you have me itching to get back to the UK (pavillion, that is) to search out some shirts! LOL @ Princess & Queen, it's a clever outfit combo for Disney, albeit an accidental find!

Love your personalized photo pass location! I actually really like the bench in front of the topiaries for a photo op, it adds some variety rather than always to be standing centered in front of a landmark!
