Who Invited My Mother In Law? A Moderately Deluxe TR All New X 3 & PTR Link 2/3 !!

Great pics! I am one of those people who doesnt love CP! Our last visit was in 2006 and we had the same kind of experience as you....almost identical. With Shanleigh being 14 at the time, it wasnt a big deal about the characters, but the food was cold and we only saw our server at the beginning and end of our meal!

Glad you were able to skip out and get on with your day while they waited for the cheque!!!

I stayed up until midnight last night pouring through your first trip report and not today I just finished with this one. I have loved every minute of it!! Your daughter is adorable!!! I can't wait for the rest of the report!! I'm on pins and needles waiting to see if the Fairy Godmother is able to deliver your daughters BBB invitation!!

She never drank my drinks, which surprised me. It obviously bothered her to see them “wasted.” The waiters refilled hers when she asked for more. Otherwise, I am sure she would have drunk mine. No one else at our table got refills. There was a glass of wine for each of the five courses, and I am certain she was already drunk from the cocktail hour before dinner. My sense of smell heightens when I am pregnant. She reeked of alcohol so badly that I could barely stand sitting next to her. I would have been embarrassed to act that way in front of Crap’s co-workers. Her husband tried to calm her down, but she was just too drunk.

We waited so long for Tigger at CP last trip that I finally just asked if we could see him rather than waiting for him to come to our table. The handler said we could not see him until he was done with that side of the room and in the middle. Since it took so long to get a seat, and the park was already open by the time we were waiting for Tigger, we waited. He went on break after seeing us in the middle of the restaurant, so who knows how long it would have taken had we waited. It was by far the longest we ever waited for a character at any park. I think we must have just missed him in our section, because the other section was seated long after us and got to see him first. I land in between you and Kat on the food. Nothing there was worthy of writing home about, but I did not find anything bad either. My five year old enjoyed his time in there as well.

I love the picture where it looks like you are molesting Bryan!!!

LOL!! I was thinking the same thing, but couldn't find a good way to say it. LOL!!

:lmao:

I booked character breakfasts for that reason too - it made sense that it would be harder to mess up breakfast food at a buffet. However, forgetting that I'm not really into breakfast food - well, that didn't work out so well! :rotfl2: The characters are fun there though, and it's awesome that Maddie had such a good time. Willow did too - and SHE LOVES breakfast food.

Can't wait to hear about some girly fun!!! :cheer2:

My thoughts exactly, how hard is it to make eggs? :confused3 The characters are a lot of fun there, especially Tigger. I love breakfast food and so does Maddie, but DH could live without it.

Oh we had some girly fun...

I'm all caught up again (sorry I've not gotten here sooner...so much going on with my MIL...although it is because she is ill and NOT a pill ;) ).

I totally understand, and I'm so sorry to hear what your family has been going through. :grouphug:

I love the updates; we've never done Ohana for dinner...we really need to get there. I'm not even going to say what I'm thinking about your MIL and her behavior. All I'll say is "Seriously?"

'Ohana is awesome, you've got to try it one of these days. The food is great. MiL was in rare form for sure. I'm not sure what to say about it either. :rotfl:

I'm sorry you didn't enjoy your food at CP. It is our must-do and only character meal we do anymore. I am a HUGE puffed french toast lover. You are right...Disney does NOT know how to do bacon at all. I think, perhaps, you hit the end of the food or something, becasue ours has always been warm. I can't comment on the eggs becasue I don't do them.

I was very surprised that breakfast was disappointing. We've enjoyed dinner there in the past. You win some, you lose some I guess. What is up with Disney and bacon? Such a random thing for them to do badly! :rotfl2:

I do love the photopass photos WITHOUT the MIL; and the pics of Maddie with Pooh and friends are great.

:lmao: Thank you!

I'm sorry you didn't enjoy your meal there either! It's such a disappointment because it's a nice way to get into MK early. I'm looking forward to trying Be our Guest though!

Glad you were able to skip out and get on with your day while they waited for the cheque!!!

That was really nice of Bryan to wait. I just couldn't sit there any longer.

That's so sweet! Thank you so much for reading (both) TRs!! I'm end the suspense in the next update! Thanks again for the kind words!

Her husband must have been mortified! How crazy! My sense of smell was crazy when I was pregnant too. The thing that was the worst for me was lamb. I literally couldn't stand to serve it at the restaurant, I had to have others take it to the tables for me. I could smell it the minute it hit the broiler too. Haven't eaten lamb since.

We waited so long for Tigger at CP last trip that I finally just asked if we could see him rather than waiting for him to come to our table. At least Xander enjoyed the characters too. It was a disappointing meal. I couldn't believe that it took an hour and a half to see all the characters. The food just wasn't good. I look forward to trying Be Our Guest next time!
I love the picture where it looks like you are molesting Bryan!!!

I just read through everything you've posted in one sitting, I just had to see what your MIL would say or do next.

So I have a few things to say:

1) YOUR CAMERA IS AWESOME. Those photos are so gorgeous!
2) Your DD is ADORABLE! She has such a sweet face :cutie:
3) I love your writing style, very witty
4) Bad tippers give me a :headache:
5) Also, your 'Ohana review makes me especially happy that I was able to snag a reservation, a late one but one nonetheless. :)

Hello :wave2: I'm just catching up on the boards and notice you've started a new TR!

Woohoo on the surprise being the success and the reveal! :thumbsup2

Oh no on it starting to rain as you were walking to your room. Love the pics of Maddie with the princesses...she looks so happy!

Haha on Maddie finding out about pinkie promises and utilising them now! A shame about it not working with the glazed donuts for breakfast...sounds like a fun way to start the day!

Glad you enjoyed 1900 PF and the food was better. Love the pics of MSEP and Wishes.

Loving all the food reviews and looking forward to more :goodvibes

I'm with you on the characters at CP. They always take FOREVER to make their way around. Its nice that they are at least warning guests, but you think they'd figure out some way to fix it! This doesn't seem to be too much of a problem at other character breakfasts :confused3

I'm looking forward to the surprise!

I've had a busy week (my ILs were here) and I just got caught up.

Flower & Garden IS beautiful isn't it and its just a beautiful time of year. I am glad you enjoyed Ohana's and am appauled at MIL behaviour. I completely agree that it is hard to have that confrontation in the moment. There are times where I feel like I need to, but I know it will only escalate things. I also feel that DH needs to have the conversation, she is HIS mother. We kind of aren't talking much today from the tension and stress of his mom's visit. I just feel like he NEEDS to stand up for me when she questions my ability as a mom. I don't but when she's around she makes me feel so lousy at my main job in life.

Anyway - Ohana is amazing! It's a must do for us too! We also love CP but can understand catching a bad shift, nobody is perfect all the time :)

It was great to see Maddie having a great breakfast after such a tough day. Can't wait to see how the rest of her day goes.

I found your TRs today and have read both of them. We're taking my daughter who will be almost four at the time, right after Christmas. It's been nice to read your experiences. I even showed her some of your pictures. I didn't want to tell her about our trip so soon, but I don't think I could ever wait and do a surprise like you did. I would let it slip for sure! Looking forward to reading about the rest of your trip! :)

Thanks for joining in! That's so nice of you!

I appreciate that, the camera is new and I'm still learning how to use it. I had a lot of fun trying to get some good shots!

Thanks for that too, we like her. :)

You are too kind, I figure if I'm gonna write it-I'm gonna try to make it enjoyable to read.

Not a fan of bad tippers, especially the ones eating with me. :headache:

Ohana was great! I'm glad that you got the ADR, I can't imagine someone not enjoying it!

Hi Tanz! Great to hear from you, how is everything? So glad that you joined in the TR!

I'm so glad that you got to see the surprise video! It was so much fun to tell her!

If we'd known at the time that it was the only rain we'd see, it wouldn't have been a big deal. At the time though, it was kind of rough. :lmao:

Oh the pinkie promises. I would love to have doughnuts everyday, but I'm not sure my waistline would. :rotfl2:

1900 Park Fare was much better this time around, we had a lot of fun there.

Wishes always makes me so happy, I was excited to have the chance to take some good pictures of it.

I'm looking forward to the surprise!

It took so long! It was nice of them to warn us, I wish that I'd believed them. :rotfl: On this trip we did every character restaurant but two, and it didn't take nearly as long anywhere else.

Coming right up!

In law visits can be rough. I'm glad that you survived. I understand wanting DH to speak up, it seems like it would be easier for them to talk to their moms. Luckily my MiL doesn't really question my parenting. That would be really infuriating. I feel your pain.

I love 'Ohana! I can't wait to go back! I think that CP was having an off hour or so. It was unfortunate.

An update coming right up!

Thanks for joining in! You're going to have so much fun taking your DD on her first trip! In my humble opinion, 4 is the perfect age to go! ;)

We told Maddie 3 months before the first trip, and it wasn't too bad (if you don't mind hearing about Disney 24 hours a day for 3 months :lmao:)

Thanks for joining in the TR (s)! Feel free to ask any questions you might have, there are tons of knowledgeable people on here. And, if they can't help, I'll try! :rotfl2:

After breakfast Maddie and I took off in the general direction of the castle. Thanks to Bryan’s Top Secret Mission Intel, I knew that the Tremaine’s should be out right about then, and that they’d be replaced by the Fairy Godmother shortly thereafter. Maddie and I took the path on the left side of the castle and as we approached , I saw that the Fairy Godmother was out greeting guests a little earlier than we’d anticipated.

On Maddie’s first trip to WDW, she was desperate to go to the Bibbity Bobbity Boutique. Bryan and I wanted Maddie to understand that a trip to the BBB is very special (expensive) and that not every little girl gets to visit there on every trip. So, we told her that you needed to be invited by the Fairy Godmother to get an appointment. Last trip Bryan had created an invitation, and when Maddie woke up on BBB day we told her that the FG had dropped the invitation off at the room while she slept. Maddie was thrilled and amazed that the FG had dropped by her room personally, so of course, I had to come up with a plan for this trip that would blow her mind.

The plan was that we’d find out when Fairy Godmother would be doing M&Gs on our way into the park (Check!), and while Maddie waited in line to meet her we’d slip FG’s handler an invitation for her to extend to our little darling.

The only problem? Bryan was still stuck at the Crystal Palace settling up the check, and he had the invitation.

Maddie spotted Fairy Godmother right away and insisted on getting in the very short line to meet her. As she chattered excitedly, I frantically texted and called Bryan. (Has anyone else noticed that cell reception can be really crappy at WDW?) I took some pictures too.

When we were third in line, an out of breath Bryan and MiL rounded the corner and met up with us. I distracted Maddie and Bryan had a chat with the CM who was helping FG out for the morning.

When it was our turn the CM asked Maddie to wait for a second while she and FG discussed some Fairy Godmother matters.

FG came through. She hugged and said hello to Maddie, and after signing the autograph book she pulled out the invitation and read it to her. I was thrilled and may or may not have cried a little.

Maddie returned to us very happy and a little overwhelmed. It took a few minutes (and Bryan reading the invite to her again) for her to understand that she was going to the BBB that very morning.

Once she caught on she was a very pleased little princess. Her appointment was a few hours away, so we decided to hit some rides. Fantasyland was already pretty crowded, so we grabbed some Peter Pan FPs and moved on to Tomorrowland which -according to the app on my phone- was deserted.

We rode Buzz Lighyear’s Space Ranger Spin first.

IMG_3496.jpg

The line was out the door, but we only waited for 15 minutes. Usually I am terrible at Buzz, but this was my day. I hit a 100,000 point target right away, and I smoked Bryan’s score. Maddie, who is blessed with two of the most competitive people on the planet for parents, is naturally a big fan of winning. She was more that happy to take all of the credit for our car’s score, and as we moved through Tomorrowland she sang a little song that she’d made up called Girl Space Rangers Rule. That's my girl.

After we did some serious butt kicking on Buzz, we moved Maddie toward the Laugh Floor, but she had other plans. She wanted to ride Stitch’s Great Escape.

IMG_3499.jpg

There is nothing at all Great about this attraction, but it was Maddie’s Day and it was far too early in the day to start arguing. So we rode. We only waited 10 minutes or so, and afterwards, Maddie said she wouldn’t need to ride it again any time soon. :cool1:

It was time for Monster’s Inc. Laugh Floor. MiL had never been to the Laugh Floor, and we were excited for her to experience it. While we waited in line, a gentleman with a pretty thick New Jersey accent asked us where we are from. MiL replied, “Chicago”,and he responded, “I’m sorry.” and turned away from us. It was very strange. And BTW? Chicago is awesome, and he was not. :snooty:

We filed in to the Laugh Floor and much to my dismay; Bryan was not chosen to be “That Guy”. Since that is one of my most fervent MK dreams, I was a little disappointed. We enjoyed the show anyway, and so did MiL! She actually said she was sorry that she’d skipped it in the past.

We considered joining the Single Rider line for Space Mountain, but no one really felt like it, so we browsed the shops for a bit and slowly made our way back to FantasyLand.

It was almost Princess Time.

I'm so happy that the Fairy Godmother was able to hand the invitation to Maddie. :goodvibes That is really so sweet & brought a tear to my eye. She will always remember that!

And Yay! for getting to ride some rides before BBB! :thumbsup2 I love that Maddie made up a song on Buzz. UGH - the Stitch ride. I like Stitch but that ride/attraction/whatever you want to call it kind of freaks me out. When I went to see my friend this weekend to work on my costume, her son (who is 10) was telling Reid about it & asking if he'd gone on it yet. Well, now Reid is insisting that we do it. I know it's going to freak him out even though he likes Stitch. I'm hoping he'll forget about it. :rotfl:

Can't wait to hear all about BBB!

Maddie looked so happy. I am glad having the fairy godmother hand her the inivitation worked out. Way to stall.

I want Crap to be selected for That Guy too. Glad MIL liked Monsters Inc Laugh Floor. It is my favorite MK attraction.

I love love LOVE how you guys arranged for the BBB invitation to be given to Maddie! What a sweet and magical moment!! :goodvibes

I hope you don't think all of us from NJ are like that guy! I've never been to Chicago, but I really always have wanted to go, everyone I know that's been there loves it!! :goodvibes

Especially when we had AT&T.

Aw. That is so cute.

Good for you! I can never get a high score on that thing.

Great update Shannon!

What a wonderful plan - glad it worked perfectly for you.

This will actually be her third trip! She was 8 months for the first one and 22 months for the last one. And we all got horribly sick during the last one, so we're hoping this trip will make up for it, since she's now so much more into Disney stuff. This will be the first trip for our son. He'll be 16 months at the time, so it will definitely be more about big sister. My MIL will be joining us on our trip, too (and staying in the same room, at least it's a one bedroom DVC). Thankfully, I believe that she'll be a better traveling companion than yours. She's even agreed to let us have a date night one night.

I love that Disney will do those little extra things, like the experience you had with the Fairy Godmother, that just make things soooo much more special and magical. :wizard: looking forward to hearing about this BBB experience. I'd love to do it for Faith, but I don't think it's in the cards for this trip. Maybe next time!

How wonderful that you were able to manage the fairy godmother surprise! Maddie looked thrilled! Congrats on hitting the big target on Buzz, I need to figure out where they are (although there will be no guarentees I will actually be able to hit them! ), so I can beat DH one of these days.

Stitch huh, well at least it didn't end up being a favorite and the line was short! :lmao:

I love the laugh floor too, I think its an overlooked attraction. My DH has never been chosen as "that guy" but he was once chosen as Randall in the Monsters Inc remake! :goodvibes (He kinda does look like Randall, but he gets really mad every time I bring that up! ;) )

Great update! I love the idea of having the fairy godmother give Maddie her invite to BBB. You guys are such awesome parents and giving your daughter such amazing memories!

Can't wait to hear about the rest of Maddie's day!
