Our plane leaves in about 20 hours. DP is at work until 6pm and I'm sitting here at the computer. We haven't packed the first item of clothing, still need to finishing cleaning the bathroom, living room, dining room, and utility room... I have a paper to write for class and 2 homework assignments in research statistics. Oh, I also need to go to the store and get a new belt, pickup a few things for the folks housesitting, oh and fix a few requested dessert items, etc, etc...

Anyone else wait until the last minute to get everything done? I mean just looking at that list makes my head hurt!

We've known and been planning this trip for about 6 months... I got all the advanced stuff done... just this last minute junk I HATE doing.

Oh well, I guess I better get busy... unfortunately it won't do itself and if I wait until 6pm when dp gets off work, we'll have to pull an all-nighter.

Yes- I am the biggest procrastinator of all. I wait until the last minute with every little thing in my life. Then when its all said and done I relax and swear the next time I will plan better. But never do!

But I see you still have time to DIS! ;)

Have fun! :smokin:

There's always time to "DIS" - especially if there is laundry or housework to do, LOL!

Best wishes -

Do you really have to clean all those rooms?

Some folks just work better when under "pressure". I also happen to be one of them. Hate myself for it but when I'm finally on the road, breathe a sigh of relief and pat myself on the back for being able to get done in a few hours what would take a "normal" person a couple of days to finish! STOP THE INSANITY!!!!!!

:thumbsup2 I always wait until the last minute to pack. My actual system is to do laundry the night before and pack as I pull stuff out of the dryer.

Unfortunately... yes.

DP's sister, brother-in-law, neice and nephew will be moving into our house while we are gone to take care of the pets. I probably don't have to do it, BUT there's no way I could ask them to do this for us and then get here and the place be "messy".

:rotfl2: That's EXACTLY what I'm doing!!! Well, from the dryer into the laundry baskets. Right now I have 3 laundry baskets full of clothes in the guest bedroom right next to the suitcases. Now all the bed linens and blankets are in the wash... so almost done with that stuff.

Whew... coming right along. :woohoo:

Back to cleaning! :rolleyes2
Then dessert fixin... I've had requests for "monkey bread" and sugar-free "dirt" (ie. pudding with gummy worms and crumbled oreos). :stir:

Last weekend we went to NYC for a wedding and I didn't pack until 1 hour before we left ( I still had to take a shower too.) I did okay, except that I forgot to pack clothes for the day of the wedding for before the wedding and after the wedding, so I had to wear my dress all day. :rotfl:

We are leaving for Florida in two weeks. My husband asked me what suitcases we should take and who will feed the cats when were gone. I gave him a whole big lecture on the anxiety he is causing me with all of his questions. I work better solo and last minute (lol). And me putting things off is an everyday thing around here especially since discovering the Disbords (lol).

Oh boy do I hear you!!!

I have to do and get done more stuff the last 3 days before a vacation then in 3 months!! :lmao:

Not just at home but at work. The only time anyone sees my desk at work clean and not piled high with paperwork is when I am on vacation. 2 hours after I get back to work, the surface of the desk is covered again!!! :rotfl:

Have a great trip home!!!

Thought I was the only one who cooked & cleaned up for the house sitter.:lmao: Enjoy your trip!

I've become more and more like this as time has gone by, I used to be so overplanned that I'd have the suitcases packed three days before we left and we'd be rummaging in them for things that we needed, LOL. Now I am a from-the-dryer-to-the-suitcase person too. Life just seems so much more complicated now than it used to be.

Have a great trip!

It sounds like you are in a bind and I am willing to help you out.

Just give me your reservation number and I will take the trip for you.

:Pinkbounc

All your worries gone in once quick second. :teeth:

Daddio :rotfl:

We're terrible. We're always up until about 3am before leaving town... and usually we have to get up at 4:30am to go to the airport.

Our first days are rarely magical, we're cranky and exhausted!

Good luck...

Well, only one room left to go.... whew...

DP should be home in less than an hour... we can pack, head to Walmart to pickup a few items.... swing by Chic-Fil-A for dinner... come back and I'll start mixing up the desserts (yeah, still haven't done that)...

Then if we have a little time, I'll work on those papers. If not... oh well, maybe on the plane trip... :goodvibes

Times a tickin! :hourglass

I do this too, and it's bad, bad, bad. I always end up a stressed out mess, and forget important stuff too. I'm determined not to do it for our upcoming vacation.

I'm a last minute planner too.... and it can be H---.

So last year I bought some extra luggage, just for our "Disney / Florida" trips, and I wash and repack everything on the last day, and store away as is....

So I now only have to touch up things, and redo DD-7 because she's growing every year....

Just an idea, Goldi
