Who here uses CM's SBC+ for digital scrapping?

The "papers" on the CD are 12x12 so yes you can. of course you cannot if you use the 8.5 x 11 kits.

Michelle

Thanks Michelle for the info. Can you make your own pages in 12x12 with the papers? My ablums are all 12x12 and I would like to stay with that since I am still doing a lot of paper scrapping.

Someone suggested scrapbooksplease.com (they have 99 cent 12x12 prints) & someone else suggested scrapbookpictures.com (but wait until they have a sale). I haven't used either site so I have no idea how good the prints turn out etc. I have them saved in my favorites for later. I'm doing the paper/digital albulms starting after my sons baby book. I have too many paper supplies & empty albulms to fill, but really want to start using my digital program.

How do you get your pages from CM storybook to shutterfly? And does anyone know what format the predisigned pages are in? I've been told that jpeg will work w/ my memory mixer program. I love the Disney pages, but would love to be able to do it all in one program. Thanks for any help.

I do know people who hace used the scrapbookpictures and have been happy,

All CM products are in their own format and can only be used with their program unless you open up a page and save it at a .jpeg but then it would not be very editable.

To save off pictures go to save as and then select the save pages and file format .jpeg. Hope that makes sense. i can be more specific if needed.

I did it! :cheer2: A few days ago I purchased SB+...took advantage of the sale they have right now on it--I think 20% off.

I am sooo glad I purchased it!

Some background. I have been paper scrapbooking for about 9 years. I have my own scrapbook room with more than enough supply. If you are familiar with CM, I have 3 of the big power sorts filled with pictures waiting to be scrapped. About 7 months ago, I finally purchased a digital camera. Since then, I have been taking even MORE pictures. But I'm really bad about getting them printed. My whole family...28 of us...went to Disney this past June. For Christmas, I made my mom and dad a 12x12 book through Shutterfly. I used their templates and pages. It was really easy and fun. So I thought why not? Why don't I try digital scrapbooking. I all ready have photoshop CS2 so I started to experiment with it. It was taking me FOREVER! The pages were turning out great but 1 page would take me hours. And that is NOT the scrapbooker I am.

This page...CREATED IN PS2...took me over 3 hours!!!!

Yes, I like it, but 3 hours? No way!!! I'm a busy person.

So I came to this forum for help. I found Jessica's blog and I started downloading (and purchasing) things like crazy!!! (Jessica, you really should earn a commission! :goodvibes ) Well, I had all this stuff but still found it difficult to use my CS2. That lead me back to this forum...this thread specifically. Just by looking at a few albums, I decided to purchase SB+. Within minutes I made this....

pout-Page023.jpg

AND thennnnnnn, I decided to actually read this whole thread and found something they call "templates". What's that? Something to make scrapbooking even faster? I love to scraplift but I feel like I'm cheating!!

Usually the template I found a few pages in on this thread, I made this in like 10 minutes. YES!!!!.....TEN minutes I tell you!!!

Insert the sappy love song here because I'm starting to fall in love. :lovestruc

I have thought long and hard about what my next steps should be. You know....the question that gets asked alot. Should I switch to digital? Should I do both? Should I or shouldn't I? You know...the questions that get asked every other post on other boards.

Sooooo....this is what I have decided to do. I can't give up paper scrapbooking all together. No way. I have so many pictures. I have so many supplies. I mean, I even have my own room. So I have decided to do our Disney '08 trip digitally. A big pro to that is that I can print off 3 copies for each of the boys. I'm really excited about that. AND then I'm going to go all digital using the pictures I TAKE in 2009.

I don't ever want to lose the process of paper scrapping. I love it. But sometimes I want to sit in the living room with my family...with a laptop and digital supplies, I am still able to scrapbook AND be with the family.

So all pictures I took prior to 2009 will be paper scrapped. All pics I take in 2009 and after will be digitally scrapped. THAT'S MY PLAN!!!!

I think it'll work. Even with that plan, with the pics I have, I'll still be paper scrapping in 10 years.

I LOVE the idea of scrapbooking "on the go". For example, my son has a wrestling meet in a few minutes. I plan on bringing my laptop to scrap while I am there. (If anyone has ever been to a high school wrestling meet, you know how BORING they can be!) I should be able to get alot done today.

Soooooo, this is where this post turns even longer.....sorry....

I read EVERY post in this thread. I don't think most people do that as it does take alot of time. Sooooo...I think we should create a FAQ to help with those questions that get asked alot. Like...Yes, you can print to Shutterfly and here's how..... Just an idea.

Okay, now here is my question.

Non SB+ related...kind of...Once you unzip your files, do you delete the zipped file or keep it? I still have all mine thinking I might need them but will I ever need them???

Still a little confused about storing the templates so I guess I have another question. Once I import them to an individual album in SB+ to use (and import) to another album, can i delete them from their original location?

THANK YOU to everyone who posted in this thread. I have all ready learnt so much!!!

Oh...I'm bad about credits so I won't be posting pages that much. Can I just say everything I used was found on Jessica's blog??? :rotfl: I know most are Britt's designs.

Thanks again! :cheer2:

YAY and I am with you 100% on switching from photoshop to the easy programs and templates!

You can still keep doing some paper scrapping. You can digi scrap and then glue in/stick in little touches here and there. I like the idea of adding dimension to the digi scrap at times (not every page, but here and there).

Glad you found a time saver!

I am glad that you have loved the time saving aspects of DigitalScrapbooking. A year ago I made the same goal. Prior to 2008 they would be traditional (got to use up my supplies) and then after that all digital. I find myself loving the digital more and more as I take out the mess that is traditional or haul the traditional stuff to crops. And WOW!!! That is a lot of pictures you have.

Jessica's collection is awesome and if you have not picked them up yet her 8.5x 11 templates are great. I wish CM would make them.....I have requested it. Her calender templates helped me finish my calender projects.

As for your quesions.
I get rid of the zip file. I do have everything backed up on a hard drive. Keep in mind that does not work with CM stuff. It can only be in one place. For instance download to hard drive and want to back it up to the external drive.....it will be saved on the external and the hard drive folder will be empty.

I am not sure about your second question....I do not get what you are asking SBCplus does reference to their location they are not loaded directly into the program. I am not totally sure if that answers your question.

Btw, your layouts look great and yes 3 hours is way too much. That is why I do not use photoshop either.

Where is the info. about the 20% off CM merchandise sale? I could have sworn there was a post regarding the sale, but I can't find it now. Is the sale over?

Thanks,
Rae

Aaawww...thanks for all the love guys! I am totally addicted to the template concept now. I threw together 13 more 8.5x11 layouts LAST night for my MIL's calendar! I made a few more templates in the process, too. I'm planning to put those on my blog and then start making some 12x12 ones, too. Just having that blank canvas to start from really speeds up my scrapping exponentially. I'm glad it works for you girls, too!

I hear you about scrapping in PSE or CS2. I'm also glad I'm not the only one that thinks that is just too labor intensive. I guess it is just a personality thing. I don't need unlimited options when I'm scrapping. I get overwhelmed and it slows me down. SBC+ is perfect for me! (well, i do wish they had a stroke outline thingy so I could outline letters easily)

I wonder if I should contact Cm and offer to design templates for them? I used to be a CMC, but I'm not any more. I'd probably have to be a CMC again to do that, huh? They really need them and they are so easy to make!

There is a digi-scrapping FAQ thread and I think it has all of the printing places listed there, too. Maybe I should add a post to my blog for printing places. That might be a good idea, huh? It is hard to keep everything organized here on the DIS!

Thanks again for the love  I'm blushing! I'll be right back with the rest of my calendar layouts!

OK, Here they come -- more calendar layouts. All made in SBC+. Some started as CM predesigned pages, some started as my own templates. I hope you enjoy them!

I'm going to order all of these pages as a BOOK for myself from Shutterfly the next time I see a deal on books. Won't that be cool?

I'll let you know when I actually start using the program. LOL Thanks so much for the quick respone.

I haven't gotten my SB+ yet, so I may be putting the cart before the horse. If you save a page in SB+ can you do the whole page in their format and then save it as a .jpeg so you can print it else where? From what I understand you can use non-CM stuff in SB+, is that right?

Yep. Save as .jpg and print anywhere. I use TONS of non-CM stuff in my layouts. Start collecting freebies now!! :rotfl:

How do I get it from here to where I can use it? Never used a template before. Thank you. Its soooo cute by the way. Hope your trip was wonderful.

download the file and them unzip it to your folder where you keep your Story Books. (probably under Creative Memories/projects). Them when you open SBC+, choose open a project and it should be in there!

ETA, Christy, I love that template, too! I can't wait to use it!

Jessica Awesome work. I love your templates and how great the pages came out with them.

Christy, thanks for sharing your template. Cannot wait to try it out.
