Who here uses CM's SBC+ for digital scrapping?

I'm about to place my order for SBC+ and a few Disney add on's, and would like some input from those who have experience with it. Is there any advantage to making 11x8.5 digital scrapbooks? It seems like most people here prefer 12x12, which it seems wil convert easily to 8x8. Any thoughts?

It's all a matter of preference. For some it is cost (the 11x8.5 is less expensive), but I prefer the 12x12 just because I can fit more pictures per page. I take so many pics that I do photo collages for just about every LO, and I want to be able to see them. If I were to do only 1 pic per page, then I'd definitely do the smaller album.

Just my 2 cents worth.

I like the look and feel of a square page over the oblong shape of 8.5x11, but it is just a personal thing!

Thanks labdogs42 and Quiltymom! I'm torn because I have done traditional scrapbooks in 12x12 and 8x8, and several Shutterfly/Snapfish photobooks in 11x8.5. I think I'll probably order 12x12 and try that for a while, unless I change my mind again.

Just FYI--for those of you who care....
Apparently the scrapbooks made by shutterfly are glued pages, where CMphoto center's books are sewn in the binding. Just passing along the info, but supposedly the CM books are higher quality and may last longer.

I have heard that, too, but since the same book was going to cost me $100 more on CM Photocenter (yes, that's right), I went with Shutterfly. CM really needs to work on their pricing. They are still way overpriced, even if the quality is supposedly better.

My kids can rip out or tear a sewn page just as well as a glued page. I may pay more for an album that won't be flipped through as much, like my wedding album or a baby book. But for an album that my kids will want to look through over and over again, like a Disney album, I'd rather buy cheaper. Chances are, I'll have to have it reprinted later regardless of how well made the first one is because it will get so dog-eared from them looking through it.

Does anyone know if you can use the Paper Shapers kit at ScrapMatters with SBC +? Since it is on sale today, I thought I may get it if I can use it with the program.

Thanks,
Rae

Absolutely - I use them all the time in SBC+. You can use the png files and recolor them - or add texture, etc :)

Thanks for the reminder to go shopping!!!

I use them all the time too -- love them --- you can also "Fill them" with other papers you have in SBC+... you just click on the shaper and then click on the paper you want to fill with and click "Fill selected Element with this paper..." Super easy. :)

Someone please test them for me, OK? The package file is on my 4 shared HERE. These are 8.5x11 layouts, I am probably going to use some/all of them to make my Shutterfly calendars this year. I thought I"d play around with the template concept and I had some fun with it! I used a lot of Cm shapes, of course, those can be filled with paper or colors, or deleted from the layout as you choose. Give them a try and let me know what you think!

Here are a few sample .jpgs of the layouts.

Jessica those calender templates are so great!!!! I cannot believe how many there were. It was hard to choose what to play with first.

I am doing a CM calender so they are not the right size, but I was able to scale things down. Thank you so much for sharing this. I absolutely loved them.

Glad you liked them! Hmmm...what size are the CM calendars? I thought they were 8.5x11, guess not, huh? Sorry 'bout that! Glad you were still able to use them!

CM calenders are a funky size.... 9.75 x 8.34 And they have a large white border around them.

But it was not a problem at all to make those work for SBC+

if someone here is selling CM, send me your site. I am just going to buy some cheap templates for now, but may as well go to someone I know...even if only virtually!
Use the pm system, please :)

Thanks for the PMs ladies...quick question, how do you use your pages in the CM software to print at any place other then CM?

And can I use those template files I just bought from CM in photoshop?

no the CM kits will not work in photoshop.

To print pages elsewhere. Choose the Save pages as option and save them as a .jpeg. I usually send them to a file folder then upload all the .jpegs in there. Then I upload them to another place for printing.

Hope that helps. I can send more detailed instructions if you need it.

i don't see that option with the \free story maker. do you have to have the plus version to do that?
