Gabby and I found ourselves a couple of GREAT deals at a local motorcycle dealership this past weekend. Gabby is getting a new 2005 Honda Shadow 750 and I got a used 2002 Kawasaki Vulcan 800 Classic. We still have some details to get out of the way, like insurance and a better place to store the bikes, but very soon, I will be hitting the road with my honey on my first motorcycle. I still need to take the safety class too.

I was just wondering what kind of bikes my fellow DIS'ers have. Anyone belong to any riding clubs? Just curious. Maggie

My DH loves to ride his V-Star Classic...he just bought it and I can't get him off! :moped:

In our stable - '87 Harley Davidson Electra Glide, '90 H-D Heritage Softail Classic, '95 H-D Sportster Hugger, '03 H-D 100th Anniversary Electra Glide Ultra, '03 H-D 100th Anniversary Heritage Softail. Life Members of the Harley Owners Group, Director of the Irish Hills Chapter H.O.G. ( local Chapter ) DW is Treasurer of same. The Electra Glides are mine, the Softails are DW and our DSs take turns riding the Sport.

I have been riding for forty years and DW has been riding for sixteen. I work for a company that supplies steel for Harley Davidson so my loyalty to American Iron is a little stronger then most "Bikers"

Ride Smart, Ride Straight, and take that riders course.

I ride a 2005 XL 883 Low Harley Davidson. Took the riding course and bought the Harley in March 2005. LOVE IT!

I have my license and can still ride, but it has been 7 years since last I rode.

I used to ride sport bikes before DD came along! Sold the bike one week after we found out we were pregnant and haven't ridden since. I miss it alot!

We have a 1990 Goldwing. My DH rides it to work almost everyday. We love to ride. I highly recommend taking safety classes. I stress classes. It never hurts to take a refresher or advanced rider course. I would also recommend co-riders taking classes. The idea may seem silly but a co-rider can learn a lot by taking the class which will make riding even more enjoyable for everyone.

Have no fear guys, I would never think of riding without proper gear/attire or without lessons. While Gabby is a veteran rider, she is responsible enough to want to take a refresher safety course, even though it's not required. The last time I was on a two wheeled vehicle with power, I was 14 and it was a little Honda mini-bike....and God help me, that was over 20 years ago. The stakes are obviously higher now, with a cruiser and big city traffic. I am excited and have a healthy amount of fear. I can't wait to get a few hundred miles of pavement behind me, so that I will feel a little more confident in my abilities. We are getting a trailer for Gabby's truck this weekend. We hope to pick up a new shed to store them in this weekend too. Our current shed is packed with lawn care equipment. The hardest part for me is knowing that I will have this beautiful bike and not be able to ride it for a couple of weeks. I can't wait!!! Maggie

Wow!! I'm jealous. I'm still saving to get my first H-D.

I haven't for years Dd came bikes went.

I had at least 1 bike from the time I was 5 until she came along.Everything from a 5hp Rupp stars&strips to a GSX750R racer.I race motorcross several different times & ages and did some drags.

I had mymotorcycle permit for 4 months before I made it down for the car .Being a July baby I had all summer to enjoy my bike and couldn't afford a car anyhow .
I traded my last Suzuki cruiser and Dirtbike in for a Jetski and raced that for a few years .Going 70 mph on a stand up in a calm lake was really fun.

I keep looking now the DD is older and as I stopped playing paintball I have really been looking again going to the local shows.Suzuki or Buell are in my future.
