I made the truffles too! I couldn't remember the exact recipe, so I found it online and decided to make just half a batch, and make the almond variety (using almond flavoring in the middles). Well I mixed everything up and Lyzzie was happily mixing the beaters, and I realized I forgot the almond! So I snatched the beater away from her, washed 'em off and added the flavoring -- but oops! I added the full amount, in a half recipe. They are VERY almondy! But I love almond, so I think they're great. The filling was SO greasy though, I'm assuming from the almond extract, that I was afraid the chocolate wouldn't stick. I covered half with chocolate and half with white chocolate, and used the rest of each to decorate the opposite colored half. They look very pretty! There was an odd number so Lyzzie and I shared one and MAN I can't wait until tomorrow so we can eat those babies!
We went to see Underdog, it was cute. Emma loved it! There was only one other family in the whole theater besides us, it was great. We went to Burger King first but didn't have time to go inside, so we went to the drive thru. I wasn't even thinking that we might not be allowed to bring the food into the theater, I mean the place is cheap and kind of nasty so it didn't even cross my mind. The kid at the counter (they sell tickets at the concession) said, "For future reference, you're not supposed to bring in food but I don't really care." I felt bad though anyway.
Tomorrow we'll make peanut butter kiss cookies, and clean clean clean!! Normally we go to my parents house for Christmas Eve, but Mom asked me today if we wanted everyone to come here instead! It does make more sense, because I did all the baking so all the goodies are here, plus most of the gifts are mine for the kids and that way I won't have to schlep them back & forth, and when they get tired they can just poop out at home. But my house is very messy!!
