Who here is not in the "clique" like me?

Well, here's the background. . . . .

I was cleaning out my freezer this AM (you know scrubbing it and getting it all shiny and sparkly) when "Wishes" came on Live365 of course I got teary eyed as I always do to this song and this is the first I had heard it since the time DH and I stood in front of the castle last Aug. Well, I got all excited and called my DSis and said, "Here, listen". Then she starts talking about going down to MNSSHP. I keep telling her we can't. We shouldn't. We can't. You're CRAZY. But, then somehow Disney took over and all of my reason flew right out the window. She started naming off prices we could stay at Pop Century ($59 a night) and the airlines are reasonable. We already have APs and there is Disney's Magical Express. How can we afford not to go was her thinking. Who was I to argue. Then DH got involved and then I was on the sites "just checking out dates and prices". Next thing I know I'm hitting they buy botton and sending copies of my intinerary to her and she's booking the room and the rest, as they (whoever they is) is history.

We aren't staying DVC this time but I love the theming of Pop!

Anyway, we are going down late Wednesday evening on Sept. 13th and coming back Sunday afternoon Sept. 17th. It's just a real quick trip but that's ok. DH and I are still planning our big "We've sold the house" trip and that's why I'm conserving my DVC points.

So, what do you think?

Give me your thoughts, opinions, advice... :teeth:

How crazy is this???????

Not that I haven't done crazy before or even impromptu trips. I have 2 of those under my belts.

2X2S- I asked her where in FL and she said around Orlando! Maybe in a small town around there. I started thinking about them possibly leaving and was sad! All of my family lives in Houston. I wouldn't really want them to leave but the upside is WDW! But they still have some years left to think about it.

April- That is so exciting! There's nothing like an impromptu trip!

:lmao: you guys are killing me today...they laughs...they tears in they eyes... well, we picked a few gallons of blackberries this morning.... YUMMM! They're now in the freezer. We went and bought a deep freeze yesterday...now we're filling it up. Meijer had ham on sale etc...

Come on YM.... ONE more post!!! 999.... :woohoo:  :cheer2:

2x2s... I know what you mean w/the smilies...I'll be typing emails and wish I could just click the smilies like we do here...but then I wish it would correct my typo's here like it does on my email ;) Chocolate molten cakes...care to share a recipe??? Sounds deeeelicious!!!You lightweight ninny :rotfl2: I'm sure I am just as bad...I might have a drink 2 or 3 times a year..and if I do..I usually have a long island iced tea...go figure..If you're gonna drink ya gotta do it right! I didn't go to wdw until I was 20!!! the ex and I got married at WL in 97 when the castle was like the cake... wdw and the wedding were incredible...too bad he wasn't :teeth: ...but we fixed that problem!

Pozey..what a great neighbor you had!! That would have been fun! Here I thought it was nice the salesman that sold me my volvo lived right behind me and let me trade him cars when mine needed serviced and I could drive his Mercedes for the day... but I'm sure you have such a very sweet and understanding dw that would gladly let you buy a Harley :) or whatever kind you would want! I never cared about bikes much... but he had it when we got married and it is nice to go ride around the country rodes...peaceful...just the two of us... :cloud9: nice quality time together.

April... I thought Spidey was hilarious... congrats on 1100 posts :cheer2: Going to wdw :woohoo: great decision!!!Man...it seems like all of you are going to wdw soon!!! Ahhh I can't wait to go again...hmmm wonder if any of you will be there if I've got to go for work? That would be too cool!! Good luck selling your house quickly. It is so great having the financial freedom like that isn't it??!!!

lyzziesmom...I know how you feel...until Mike came into our lives Kenny is all I had. We'll always have that close bond. No one can take that away. Don't worry..I talk about Kenny all the time too. I have too...he's my baby!!! He's my life!!You are a great mom and we love hearing about them :grouphug:

Hello to everyone...Ashley, Amber,Nicole...everyone I'm forgetting...I think it is now nap time :smickey:

Nicole..that would be awesome wouldn't it...my mom keeps saying that too..we'll see.. He just retired from GM and they want a place close to wdw..and a place here...we'll see. Good luck!!

Why should we have a reason to go to Disney???!!!!!!!!!

I would be estatic if I were you. Nothing like last minute trips to get you going. You have been busting your booty trying to get your house prepared so this is wonderful to have something to look forward to--let's just say a little appetizer trip before your main Disney trip. :teeth: Sounds good, doesn't it??

I say don't feel guilty in the least---relax and don't feel like you have to see or do everything. Sometimes those short little weekends can be the best!!! You can just "wing it".

I am soooo excited for you!!!!!!!!!!! :yay: :yay: :cheer2: :cheer2: :dance3:

http://disney.go.com/theatre/boxoffice/tour/stlouis.html

any of you ever go to the lion king musical? Ahhhh that was the most awesome thing ever!! I took Kenny to it before I'd ever even taken him to the movie theater...it was almost 3 hrs. and he sat there good as can be...I just told Mike we've got to go to the Cincinnati show!! Hmmm it will also be in Orlando ;)!! great show if you've never been!!! :thumbsup2 it was like $73 a ticket...but SOOOO worth it!

Nicole, its in Houston now but might be sold out? :guilty:

Nicole--
Yes, there is always an upside of being close to WDW. You never know what will happen in a few years. Maybe you could move as well?? You're a young chickie--you could do it.

Hey Linda-- Did you say BLACKBERRIES???? yumm-EEE

I have a recipe for what is called "hot chocolate cakes" from the Neiman Marcus cookbook. They are really molten cakes and are pretty darn yummy. Let me find my book and I will give you the recipe. Possibly later this evening or tomorrow. If you have a Williams Sonoma near you, they have a molten cake kit that you can purchase. I have the kit but have not made them. If I am not mistaken, you can do it as a full cake or individuals?? I'll have to check that because for the life of me I cannot remember. I have been saving this for a special occassion but none to speak of yet. hey---party at my house. :cheer2:

Ooohh, Long Island Tea-----breaking out the big guns, huh?? The strongest I ever get, besides red wine (yum) is a martini. Any kind, you name it--but my fav is Cosmo made with citron or mandarin.

:lmao: :lmao: ---incredible wedding, not the husband--yes you did fix that, didn't you??

enjoy your nappy-poo

Linda--

that is wierd, your link brought me directly to St. Louis showing. The Fox Theater is so beautiful here in St. Louis, and living in the city I am only about 10 minutes away. I did go to see Lion King when it was here last---maybe 4-5 years ago?? It was amazing!!! I'll have to see about going again when it is here. It freaked me out reading it, though, because I saw the date of June-July but then realized it is 2007--I need to pay attention to details!! :teeth:

Thank you - Thank you because now I am starting to feel guilty and questioning, "What was I thinking?" Even my DH is telling me to relax it will be fun. This from the guy who always emphatically says NO to my ideas of, "Let's just do it!" Then that makes me nervous that here he never wants to be spontaneous and he's looking forward to it.

Life's too short, sweetie pie---enjoy it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No worries.

Will, you look at the time?? You gals and a guy are a bad influence on me!! :teeth:

Must get some things done.
Talk at y'all later. :sunny:

I'm not in a clique thread either.

We aren't in a clique either!!!! ;) We just post away about our days and offer encouragement and advice. Feel free to jump in anytime here!! We must know about pets, kids, husbands(previous or X), family, what your zodiac sign is, when are you planning next trip, what you like for breakfast, etc. Actually we are just very nosy, but very nice!!! :welcome: :welcome:

Don't worry April as seasoned Disney Addicts we all saw this trip coming!! Isn't it exciting to have a trip to the magic in the planning. Pop sounds perfect for your trip. Do you like it there? I considered it for our WDW part of our trip, but DH thinks he needs at least a queen sized bed. That leaves out the values and mods. Your DH looks tall, do the beds work out for him?(Well, you know what I mean. )

My thought--GO FOR IT!!!
My opinion--Sounds like a great plan!!
My Advice--Pick a place or 2 that you would really like to eat and play the rest by ear(no pun intended)!! :earsgirl:

Oh, April!! Good for you, an impromptu fall Disney trip! Good for you! :thumbsup2

Linda, we saw The Lion King in May when a tour came through here. It was an incredible show! We've seen tours of B & B and The Lion King (as far as Disney shows go) and DD and I will see Mary Poppins in NYC in March.

2xcited my kid is an artsy kid - some are academic, some are athletic. She comes from a line of musicians - but what's weird is for a 16 yo to be SO into musical theatre. That is her passion. So, instead of being a soccer mom, or a cheer mom, I'm a theatre mom.

Lyzziesmom Absolutely don't stop telling us about your girls!! I suffer from the same problem, I suppose, in going on about my girl - but I love hearing about other people's kids, too!

I don't know when I'll get caught up on this weekend's posts - two late nights (for me..) in a row and I'm a sleepyhead right now. My eyelids are drooping. the housecleaning maidies are hiding from me, so I guess it's time to get off my backside and do it myself. I'd rather sleep. It's even to hot to go outside and swim... :sunny: :sunny:

Thanks, Donna

I like Pop. We stayed there Thanksgiving Day - Saturday last year before switching over to OKW for the remainder of our stay. We own DVC but the point usage was out of this world for Thanksgiving Day. I'm embarrased to say this to anyone but my DH and DSis are like resort snobs :snooty: which I think is ridiculous. It's like they've grown accustomed to DVC's accomodations and now nothing else will do. ~WHATEVER!~ We're not going DVC this time because DH and I are saving the points for our big trip. I loved Pop  . I loved the themeing(sp?), the food court and the atmosphere :cloud9: . I'm thrilled to be staying there again! :woohoo:
DH didn't say anything about the beds. He's 5'11" and as far as I know, they were fine. We have a queen here at home but I think most nights we were so tired when we got back to our rooms that we just crashed.

OOOOOhhhh, I've got to get a timer in my siggy!! :cheer2:

ahhh. what a great nap :) Mike just asked me if I were married to the DIS :rotfl2: I guess that must be a hint he wants some attention or something :confused3 !! 2x2s.. I was looking at the St. Louis showings when I copied the link since I knew several of you are from there;)!! I have the cd from the musical in my cd player in the shower :rolleyes1 is that a disney fanatic or what???

April don't worry..just kick back and enjoy this trip! You guys deserve it! Yes, Pop was fine for us. We'll probably try SOG next since he's eligible.

Hi Lori... join the crowd :cool1:

DznyFan...that is too awesome!! I'm sure she'll love it...

He just called me a DIS junkie... hahaha I better go spend some time w/him :rotfl: he's getting jealous of you guys;)

April - Great news about the trip!! :cool1: Have fun!!

Well, I made skillet lasagna today for lunch. Yep, lasagna in a skillet. Turned out pretty good!!

Here's the skillet...

Man.....that's dark.....

yeah...but I bet it was TASTY!!! I'm so happy Kenny is home and in the shower :cloud9: ahhh back to normal :cool1:

Grrrr, got home a little while ago and man it is HOT in my apartment. I was warm in here this morning but I didn't think much of it. Well, the A/C isn't working. It's been blowing all day, set at 76, and it's 84 in here. Idiot maintenance guy finally called & said all huffy, "Well I live like an hour away so I guess I'll be out later." Not my fault that this place is falling apart and it happens on the weekends. Looks like I'm getting out of here just in time.

April... WOW! That sounds like so much FUN!! We love Pop, and sometimes those spontaneous trips are the best.

Hi Lori, always nice to see someone new around here!

I suppose I'd better feed these kids so they'll quit whining. The museum was nice but the only thing they had in the way of refreshments was ice cream, and that was not the most filling lunch. It was quite tasty though! I'd never had a cherry soda float before... yum!

I hear thunder!! Woo hoo!! Maybe it will rain here!! We desparately need it!!

Me and the kids were outside playing and I start to hear thunder!! Probably because I have had the sprinkler on all day!!

We went to the Tigers game with Blake's company today and I am whipped. It was hot, luckily our seats were in the shade but the game was boring. Luckily I brought something with me that made the afternoon go by faster...wait for it....

Yep, I brought Stephanie Plum with me :cool1: I read on the bus on the ride down to Comerica Park. I was going to leave the book on the bus but happily took it in with me. I lasted until about the 4th inning and couldn't take it anymore. I was probably getting weird looks from people but I didn't notice :rotfl2:

I love the stories behind everyone's first trip to Disney. My first trip was to Disneyland in '67. We were visiting my mom's brothers and that was one of our stops. I was 4-5 years old and remember nothing. In '74 Mom and Dad got a pop-up trailer and we all, DM, DF, 2 DB's and DSis stayed at Fort Wilderness. The next year we added Gram and Grampa. I don't know how we managed but we did and had a ball. I need to ask my mom how she decided to take us.

The next year '76 mom was diagnosed with cancer. Dad promised her another trip when she was ready. Dad was a cop with 4 kids in Catholic schools, mom was a SAHM. We had no money for extras, don't know how they they did the first 2 trips. Mom had her hamstring removed and the nerves cut. She was now paralyzed from the knee down on her left leg. They told her she would never walk unassisted. This was in Aug. She used a wheelchair at first by Christmas she was using a cane and by the next summer she was walking alone. :cheer2: We made it back in '82 and have been going regularly ever since.

DH and I made our first trip together in '85 right after we got engaged. met the rest of the family there. Bought into DVC in '94 and have taken my mom and dad with us on most of our trips.

April.. good for you, booking your trip. Quick trips can be lots of fun. We go in 10 days for our own quick trip. Wed thru Monday. Have fun planning :thumbsup2

Lyzziesmom... don't you dare stop telling us about your girls. I love hearing about everyone's families.

Pozey...do you do most of the cooking in your house? DH is the much better cook of the 2 of us. He does most of it on the weekends. I hate cooking. I don't mind the cooking, it's the deciding that makes me
