Attack of the Lakeshore Lodge

Which technically is true. It just might be that I read it in my own post because I THOUGHT I read it somewhere. I mean, it's totally semantics..... 🤷🏻‍♀️ 😂

Had to come up with something to take the heat off Riviera where they pulled off magically dropping the Mediterranean into the Caribbean.

The mistake was using the word “Lodge”. We now expect a lodge look, a lodge feel, in a location well themed to being Fort Wilderness. I would have accepted keeping to the original Reflections at Fort Wilderness. RFW.

Now we will be floating down the lazy river listening to “Just Around The Riverbend” on loop.
The mistake of the word lodge goes perfectly with the pairing of cfw and the mistake of the word cabin. Now im convinced theyll be rolled into one huge mistake. I AM KIDDING (kind of 😉)

I'm not asking for much but maybe a waterfall feature or a couple of small water spouts? I'll be honest I was pretty underwhelmed by SABs pool and it's lazy river when I stayed there so I hope it's a step up above that. I still love BCV but that's more for it's proximity to Epcot and the hot tubs.
I felt the same way and so did all of the adults we traveled with. If it wasnt for the proximity to epcot, we wouldnt consider staying again. Epcot is my favorite park so I do consider it when booking

I am old school I guess, But I really like the old school theming. Set Disney accommodations apart. Very immersive and really kept the magic going. Now it is more Marriott or Holiday Inn Express. I had High hopes for Poly Tower when I first heard about it. They could have really kept the poly theme going, but nope, built a generic product instead.
I love PIT but I agree way more creativity should have gone into the outside of the building

It’s Disneys land we don’t get to decide how what they build fits with the scenery. I think the choice DVC has made to go with cheap materials and not grand luxury theming is sad but even with that I am happy there will be another DVC property to choose from. That is exciting. As a DVC owner there’s no way I would want them to stop building. VDH was stuck where it would fit and has terrible views from most rooms but it gives more options of places to stay while visiting, and getting a room at a Disney resort is what I signed up for. I didn’t sign up to preserve the land at WDW.
Just got back from vdh and the preferred room they gave us was a joke. It was top the top of a building, the street with passing cars, but on the right you could see the palm trees over the pool (Not the actual pool) so they said it was because it had a pool view 🤣 We also got to see the very tip top of some fireworks at night, but def should have been classified as deluxe studio

Going back to the “themed resorts” will take Josh D’Amaro making that a priority and hiring architects that work with imagineering to champion that style…

I’m also not sure if Disney thinks that is what the marketplace wants… When they opened the Grand Floridian, Yacht & Beach Club, etc. the top competition was Hyatt Grand Cypress and Marriott World Center. Those (by comparison) cold properties with their large imposing towers were meant to contrast with the Disney Deluxe Resorts as a differentiator.

I’d argue that Disney Deluxe Resorts have been maintained better than those properties are currently (though both are in good repair), but they are no longer at the top of the totem pole… When considering price, Grand Floridian competes more with Conrad/Evermore, Waldorf Astoria, JW Marriott Bonnet Creek, as well as other properties further way like the RC in Orlando (blanking on its name). To say nothing of the Four Seasons which Disney really doesn’t compete with in price (but could with a new resort potentially)…

Regarding LSL, I’d be happy to consider staying there, especially if the following was there:
1. Lots of walking/hiking trails
2. A walking path to WL
3. Boat service to Contemporary at Night - ideally all day
4. The rooms are nicely appointed - and bigger than WL
5. The points chart is comparable to BLT or so
6. Great dining options I can get by walking to my room… (anyone else think the closure of Artist Point as a regular restaurant had something to do with pushing people to Reflections once it opened?)
7. Enough pools to actually create a relaxing feel…. CBR and OKW with their boring pools become desirable to me, because they are also empty pools….

I am unlikely to consider purchasing due to restrictions, though I might consider it if I fell in love with the place for a second week in a 2 BR, and would likely go restricted resale once it popped up…

If it is trust points, unless I learn some different things, it is a definitely not purchase for me.

Hiking trails?

I would love to have that path re-opened to WL.

Does pit compare to the four seasons because that is a pricy hotel lol
