Well since everyone else is posting pix of their families (and don't we all look great!), here is one of mine:
You've already met Lyzzie and Emma - I'm the big one on the right. Keep in mind this was about 6am on our travel day, so I was tired & wearing no makeup. Hence the huge eyebags. Oh, maybe you didn't notice them. In that case, nevermind!
I'm going to try not to write a novel tonite, I promise. Just as I finished up last night, I heard a thump, thump, BOOM! from upstairs. Little Emma was trying to carry her blankie downstairs & fell onto the landing. Luckily she only fell down about 3 steps. It was very scary though, because she was covered in blood, she was lying on her back & her mouth was full of blood and her hands were covered & smearing it all over. Turned out she just split her lip, it's already nearly all healed up tonight. Scared the heck out of Lyzzie, who was right there with her, and me too. I can't believe I kept my cool while I washed her off & checked to make sure all her teeth were secure! I was shaking like a leaf after I knew she was fine. 2 minutes later and she popped her binky right back in, so it couldn't have hurt as bad as it looked. *Whew!* I was glad to know that in a crisis, Lyzzie did the right thing by calling for me and not trying to help by herself or run away. You just never know with kids, no matter how many times you drill it into them, if they will actually remember the important stuff!
So that was our big excitement for the day. On the househunting front, we looked at 2 more today and peeked in the windows of one that the realtor can't get the code for (for the lock) until tomorrow. The first one was adorable, until we got past the living room. The basement was creepy. I'm talking Scooby-Doo haunted kinda creepy! I am not a big fan of laundry-doing to begin with, and with the W/D in that basement, I'm pretty sure I'd go broke from just buying new clothes rather than brave the creepiness every week! And the rest of the house was run-down and just plain wrong for us. Too bad, because the outside was super nice.
We may have found something though in the one we couldn't get into. It needs a lot of work but it's all cosmetic, and I can see a lot of potential. Lyzzie liked a tree in the backyard, she already wants to hang a swing from it! Anyway, the price was right and it didn't look the same as every other house we've seen, so it stands out in my mind. Ugh, this whole thing is starting to make me really feel like a grown-up. (It's about time, after all, I AM 31).
That's about it for tonight, lots of work to do tomorrow, I'm gearing up for our company's big quarterly meeting on Thursday, where I have to put together a good chunk of the presentation and it looks like I need to actually present it too. Yikes! And my boss is returning next week after being gone for almost 2 months. Her DH had a liver transplant that he'd been waiting on for several years. In the meantime, I've been doing her job PLUS the usual 4 or so jobs that I normally do. I am one busy girl, and yet I still find time to check in on the DIS throughout the day! Priorities.
