Morning cliquers......

I have a question for my fellow Tulsa area cliquers....Did you guys see the piece on the 10 o'clock news last night on "How to save money on your Disney World trip"? It was on Channel 2 news.

They interviewed a woman who takes her family to Disney World every 2 years. I was wondering if she might be a DISer. :confused3

Oh, and 2xcited2slp........I'm a guy........ :teeth: :wave2:

I didn't see it (don't watch 2). Why didn't they interview us? They should've interviewed us! (obviously it wasn't me) I'll have to contact some of my other Tulsa area Disney friends, and see if they saw it. I'm curious to know what kind of 'tips' she offered. So how did you like Mimi's? I've been there a few times, usually for breakfast - I really like it.

My folks went to China a few months ago and they told me the same thing about the food. At one place, they were served a plate of 5 duck heads! Ick!!
ewwwwww... *yak*
and sinus pixiedust: for you...

2xcited - I will be checking out Eva Cassidy. I love music, it's always been an important part of my life, and always wanting to find new stuff to listen to - kind of like books. I love everything from hard rock to show tunes.
NO Snickers for me!! I've been eating OK, just keeping it relatively soft. And yes - NEXT Wednesday...

Dolphinrescuegirl - great 2nd day on the job, it sounds like. Guess it's going to work out OK for you - excellent news!

It's funny..I work w/about 60 guys here in our office and if anyone mentions WDW or a cruise...everyone says..."you have to go talk to Linda!" It's funny but I would rather be known for being a Disney fanatic than something worse!
I get the same thing here about anything WDW. I swear, I need to become a consultant - could make $$$ talking about my passion. And yes, as much as people think we Disney fanatics are a little 'off' there are worse things we could be... I love those people who look at me weird, and say "You're going to WDW AGAIN???" in disbelief. Yep!
And pixiedust: for everything working out at your job. Workplace changes and politics stink.

April - good for you on your WW. I don't think I could ever have that willpower - I love to cook, I love to eat. My metabolism is in reverse. If you can keep it up, good for you! :cheer2:

Michele - glad you got to talk to DH and the trip is going well. Despite not being able to find anything to eat, wouldn't that trip just be an awesome experience?? Hope he's taking lots of photos for you.

lindakmonty said:
Michele... wow I would hate trying to talk to people that don't understand me. So frustrating! We have that problem in our own country!! It drives me crazy...we're in USA and speak english....so if you want a job here... you should speak english!! sorry...that just aggrevates the heck out of me
Don't even get me started.

YAY, you hear that girls---we've recruited another Plum fan.
My request for One For The Money at the library should be in today, I hope. I got curious with all you talking about how good they are - and I'm in between books right now - haven't found anything lately. I ususally read Crichton, King, Iles, Cook, Cornwell - stuff like that. I love thrillers, I'm really looking forward to starting in on this. I guess I know what I'll be doing this weekend!

DD will be getting lots of TLC when she returns from this mission trip. I'm thinking she will return a more humble and appreciative girl. From the posts I've read about all your kiddos - you all seem to have just awesome kids! And our DHs (and DWs I assume, pozey) aren't too shabby, either...

Ashley, Amber, Your Majesty and Nicole -
must... work.... (insert tantrum smiley here) and if I don't stop, I'm going to get a reputation like 2xcited.... ;)

Oooohhh, Donna---------PERFECTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for getting up extra early and going through all of that trouble. It was delicious!!!

I'll do the dishes.--unless your little maidies are hiding under the cabinet.

Umm, excuse me, why am I reading about snot right after I ate breakfast?? :crazy2:

IT'S A SCRATCH--NOT A PICK!!!

Oh my goodness, Pozey-----I am SO sorry--please, please, please accept my apologies. Why am I always the last one to find out these things??

I guess we will have to watch all of the "lady" stuff we talk about here then, huh??

Nice to have a man around. You can be our "protector". Sorry, I am a bit old fashioned.

Anyone else need to tell me anything??

Oh Donna...I totally forgot to respond about the house in KY...it is just outside of Grayson. Real close to Grayson Lake...a nice get away!

pozey...you're a guy... that is awesome...:) it is nice having a man around!

DznyFan.. my boss goes to WDW twice a year... his wife is a travel agent... he got this book about wdw and the secrets and ins and outs. I forget which one...he's been there like 17 times? He said he knew all of that and could have written a book much better than that. I'm sure we could too :) Passion it is..I've got to get pix of my disney room... and disney collections. I've been working on it here and there...plus finish my scrapbooks... there just aren't enough hours in the day!

have a great day everyone...

Hi Ashley, Amber,April, dolphinresquegirl, lyzziesmom, and anyone else I forgot :goodvibes

Good Morning Everyone!!

My boss is gone today :woohoo: I think I may leave early. I don't think anyone will mind. I'm pretty sure I have job security here too; no one knows what I do. Seriously, not even my boss has a clear understanding of what my job is.

I went to the Disney Store last night. They have a bunch of cute things. DH and I each bought a shirt (and I got a few other things). Our closets are beginning to look like a Disney store. Most of our clothes have a character on them. Is it wrong for adults to only wear Disney clothes??

April, good luck with WW. I thought about doing it, but DH is such a good cook I don't think I could.

DonnaLeah, that food looks so good. I am so hungry. I can't believe you only have 2 days. You are so lucky!

lindakmonty, I wish I could do my Christmas shopping early. I always plan too, but it just never happens. DH and I so bad with one another. If we buy a present for each other, we give it early. I don't think in the 8 years we've been together, we have ever given a present on the actual day (birthday, Christmas, doesn't matter). I'm hoping to get some shopping done at WDW.

Amber...that is my dream...to do my Christmas shopping at WDW..I did some in 04' on the cruise in Dec. but Christmas shopping in DTD :woohoo: that would be the ultimate!! Is it wrong to have so many Disney clothes...well, if it is... too bad I'm wearing a t-shirt from Disneyland right now :cool1: Me, dh and ds all have TONS of disney clothes!! dh likes his Grumpy shirt best! Glad your boss is gone. It's great isn't it!!! Good luck leaving early :thumbsup2 At work we're required to dress up everyday... dress pants and a shirt w/a collar... polo or something :rotfl2: yeah right!!! NONE of us do. Only when someone from Corporate is coming...from Birmingham,AL... we wear jeans everyday! As long as your job is done and done right...who cares if you're wearing jeans or not? We're sitting here at our cubicles and no one really sees us...

Thanks everyone for the pixiedust: pixiedust:

It is going to be a long haul. It got really bad at the beginning of the year but then settled down a bit. It is now stirring up again. This obviously is not going away. I feel like I am selling out, that my morals are somewhat being compromized. I am under a non-compete contract though, so if I were to make a move, still being in this business within a certain number of miles and making any type of contact with my clients, I will get sued.--and I have seen it happen--several times. Nine years of business building and now it is not good enough for them. :furious:

I know everything happens for a reason.
Thanks again for all of your thoughts and I like the pixiedust motto. Thanks for that Donna.

Linda----I love how you speak about your DS. Your DH's job sounds cool. He looks to young to be retired, though. Good for him. Gook luck in your job complications as well.

Hi April--how's WW going?? Don't give up. I know what you mean about needing the support. You don't know how many times I have eaten something when I am by myself and think it doesn't count because nobody saw me. ?????????? Senseless. Kind of like a cat-----"I'm not looking at you, therfore I don't see you, therfore you are not there."--------------this is EXACTLY what cats say, don't cha know??
Glad you checked out Eva--I hope you enjoy.

He was laughing saying "Why is it that I was listening to beautiful, relaxing intrumental, then French music, then all of a sudden it was loud hard rock??" :teeth: :teeth: It all depends what mood I am in and as you all can probably tell, it is all over the board. :) I am emotionally stable, I promise---I think. :lmao:

Not the greatest reputation, but a reputation none the less. I'm not sure if this is good or bad.

Have a good day!!!!!! And daydream about our special place---WDW.

lindakmonty, I'm glad there are other adults that wear Disney clothes too. I don't see too many people dressed like me (unless I'm at WDW). I can't wear my Tshirts to work (I work at a bank, so I have to dress up a little). I do sneak in some Disney though (I'm wearing eeyore socks now). Plus, I never take my Mickey tennis bracelet off. :thumbsup2

Hello all,

Donna, thanks for the coffee and eggs benedict. Could we have breakfast at the Kona Cafe tomorrow? I'm in a funk that last few days. I thought I would never be one of "those" moms that wanted her kids to go back to school. Not that they are even the problem...I just feel like I don't have much control right now...I think it was pass. However, I'm so blah...don't want to do anything...except maybe read a Plum novel. ::yes:: The kids have been loud and fighting plus the doorbell rings starting and 9am and then followed by the phone...with the neighborhood kids mom....can you watch so and so etc. I can tell this post is going to get really long if I complain about everything that I want too...so I wont...but my hip is hurting too...and I dont' know why but my arm and neck was hurting last month....I'm doing therapy for my bad anlke :sad1: Help I'm only 38. The dr put me on a steroid pack a couple of weeks ago but I'm finished...maybe this is the after effects?

Oh, on a lighter note...the SpongeBob took a couple of hours to make...that was with a couple of breaks when ds (6) would get distracted. We were at DTD in March and the giant TRex was at the lego store...it was really cool and DS was so excited because he had made the exact one (just a little smaller). I might have a picture somewhere. Ok...thanks for listening... :teeth:

It wasn't really all that "informative" for a Disney veteran. They mentioned saving money by buying souvenirs before leaving, making your own meals, going while school is in session, and reading mousesavers.com. That's about it.

I wear some sort of Disney themed shirt probably 80 percent of the time. I have a lot of Disney polo type shirts that I wear to work, and I wear a lot of Disney tee shirts on the weekend.

They just recently changed the dress code where I work. Up until this week, we were allowed to wear jeans every day. Now, we have to wear Dockers style pants and a shirt with a collar.

Speaking of jobs......

Okay……this may get long, but I have to “talk” about it just to talk about it…

I received a call from a company in Florida about a possible job opportunity. My DW and I have discussed possibly moving to Florida someday. But moving is always a scary thing.

I was born in Florida and spent a lot of my youth there. However, I have lived here in Oklahoma most of my adult life. We both have relatives in Florida. My oldest brother lives in Sarasota. My wife has an aunt and uncle and cousins that live in the Orlando area. In fact, her cousin works in the HR department for Walt Disney Company!! So, it wouldn’t be like we would be leaving everyone behind.

I guess my biggest fear is that we wouldn’t be able to find a place to live that is comparable to where we live now without having to triple our monthly mortgage payment.

Another fear would be that we would get down there and either DW and/or the kids would not like living in Florida for one reason or another.

:lmao: funny story!!

I was listening to "Rhythm of The Pride Lands" earlier - it's African Choral music - based on the soundtrack from The Lion King. I'm listening to the new Red Hot Chili Peppers now.

I have no doubt in my mind that your reputation is nothing less than stellar.

Disney clothes?? Is there any other kind? Kidding, of course - but my family has amassed quite the selection - DH, DD, and I. T-shirts, sweatshirts, jammie pants, polos, socks... you name it. I am so glad to share my obsession.

Your Majesty pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: for you and your aches and 'blahs'. Sounds like you need a good trip to WDW! Sometimes, though, the best thing to do is hole up on the couch with a good book (and a kitty, if you've got one - or even like them) Don't answer the door, don't answer the phone - OK, I'm dreaming now.

Pozey- It is nice to have a guy here - and we'll try not to embarass you. Hey - it's almost football season!
And it seems I just now read your post (right above mine) interesting about the job possibility in FL!! But the cost of living - like you said - you'd have a ridiculous mortgage! If only your salary tripled like your mortgage will. DH and I have talked about it, but I guess it won't happen until DD is out of college and is working down there - then we may have to quit our jobs here and move down there. Might have to live in a tent, but by God, we'll be there.

Hi everyone! Hope everyone is having a good day so far.

Did you guys hear about the castle refurbishment? I just heard the dates and it is making me depressed. :guilty: I'm going to be there from September 22-29 and some people say its going to be until October 10, some people say December. But it doesn't matter, those dates are both after my trip. Does this mean they arent going to be doing Wishes? This is my favorite show at WDW. It is making me teary just thinking about it. :guilty:

I need some stupid encouragement about the castle. I know "Im still going to have a great time" (thats what DH told me) but I am so sad about it. No Wishes? No seeing the mural inside the castle? I can't even touch the slipper in the mural like I always do, for good luck? :guilty: :guilty:

On a better note, DH got a hit on a resume that he put out on Friday- guess where it is!!! :p Home!!! Ft.Lauderdale!!!!!!!!! Of course he still hasn't called them back, they just called him yesterday and we don't know the salary yet, but still!!! Not having to go through winter snowy days but missing hurricane season is a thing to look forward to!!!

Nicole: I hope its sunny outside in Texas (please tell me thats where you live-I think it is?? Am I imagining this? sorry if I am, I am a little looney lately) today!!! :sunny:

YourMajesty: I'm sorry your having those problems with the kids..How many days til school? :)

2xcited: I love the movie Love Actually! It is one of my favorites. I love the soundtrack, but never heard the name Eva Cassidy. Thanks for suggesting her..I'm listening to her right now. But the story of her getting sick is so sad. I was sobbing right here with Ruby. I think my hormones are telling me something. Good luck with the job situation. I have absolutely no advice but I am here if you need someone to vent to!!! Pixie Dust helps too. :cheer2: My mom hasn't told me for sure if she is watching Ruby, but I think she is gonna. She loves her grandpuppy!!

April: I hope the Weight Watchers is going well. Me, not so good. I had dinner at McDonalds last night. :guilty: (I am using this smiley alot today..)

Hi Linda. I try to shop early for Christmas too, but then I have a habit of losing the gift, and then I have to go buy another one anyways.

Donna: Wow that breakfast looked awesome! Too bad I was here too late to have some. Hmmm, french toast tomorrow?

Amber: yay for Eeyore socks! :thumbsup2 We all need a little disney in our wardrobe, every day. Atleast I think so :teeth:

Oh, Hi Pozey! :wave2:

The Florida thing is a tough decision to make. I don't know if you could tell from my earlier posts, but I love it there. :) It is alot more expensive than other areas though. (Well, not mine, of course I go from an expensive area to a mega-expensive area when I moved.) It is very nice throughout the whole state and you can't beat the proximity to WDW! What is the town you would be moving to? I'm sure you'll make the right decision!! :goodvibes

I heard about the castle and I'm not too happy either. Our trip isn't until the week after Thanksgiving, so I am hoping that it will be finished. I don't mind the decorations (they could move that mirror though); I don't see why they can't leave them up for awhile, especially with the new celebration.

They should still do Wishes, but some of the castle will be blocked off. They do Wishes way behind the castle, so it shouldn't affect that at all.

Congrats to your DH on the possible job. Here's some pixiedust: for a good salary and him getting it.

I can't wait until DH and I can move. I hate the snow. We were just talking about living in FL again last night. We live in a low pay, high cost place now, so FL isn't much different. Plus, his parents own 10 acres and said that we could have one. All we need to do is put a house there. Every time I go down there it's harder and harder to come back.

I think I was worried about Wishes because of the faces, and how they light up the castle, etc. when they perform the show. Does anybody know if they are going to do the 'goodnight kiss' or anything like that at night?

Ok I need to find the post on here where it shows you how to quote multiple posts!

I try to do all of my Christmas shopping early but I still end up doing some last minute shopping! I tend to give people their presents early too. I get made fun of for it!

I have a few Tinkerbell tshirts. I wear one to work at least once a week.

Pozey- I'm surprised all of us crazy ladies didn't scare you off! :teeth: I don't know what to tell you about the job, well you would be closer to WDW! That's always good!

Ashley- It is nice here in Houston, not too hot surprisingly enough! I heard about the castle too. :( I'm sad about it. I wanted to walk inside the castle. Oh well. Congratulations to your DH on the job! I hope he gets it!

Hi girls (and guy)! It's nice to know we have a man in our midst, what a surprise! I'm still battling this cold and I'm a little loopy right now from the congestion & the meds, so forgive me if I don't address each & every one of you but I can't remember who said what and I'm too lazy to go back through all the posts and find out. I went home from work early yesterday to get some rest and don'tcha know it, I woke up feeling worse today. Can you still call it waking up if you never really slept? A big black spider ran across my bed while I was reading in it and scared the bejeezus out of me! The little bugger got away, and I was jumpy all night. Nothing like a creepy-crawly to counteract the Ambien!

Lyzzie & I love that joke about I thought it was something good but it's snot, and we like to gross each other out with different variations on it! Call me immature, but I do have a lot of fun with my kiddos! The Howie Mandel movie was a very cute little number called Little Monsters, and it also starred a young Fred Savage pre-Wonder Years. No wonder I can't remember who said what... my head is full of completely useless knowledge!

It sounds like a couple of you might be facing a move to FL, how fun! I personally didn't really like living there, although I do miss being able to just up & go to Disney World for a weekend. (Did I tell you guys this already? If I did, just skip this part.) However, now that I live farther away & have to make a vacation out of it, I feel like I really get more of the Disney "experience" and it seems so much more special. We have season tix to our local amusement park, Worlds of Fun (should be called Towns of Fun if you ask me) but it's just not the same - it makes me miss Disney even more.

I too am the resident WDW expert. In fact just yesterday a co-worker asked me to help her plan a trip! She might even be there at the same time as I will, how funny is that? I won't tell her I have free dining though - it could get ugly. And I have given buckets of advice to another co-worker whose wife wants to go next year. I should charge these people for my expertise!!

I don't know about Wishes during the castle refurb - did anyone check the WDW website for showtimes? That should clear things up. As for going inside, CRT is still open during that time, no? You may just need to go in through a temporary entrance. I think they just refurb one area at a time so nothing is really "closed off."

Don't feel bad about wanting your kids to go back to school. I love my little ones, but there are days that I say "I'm so glad I get to go to work and relax!" Especially little Emma, she's sweet but she is a handful, especially compared to how easy her big sis always was (and still is). I think if I'd have had Emma first, I would have stopped at one!

Speaking of going to work, the phone keeps ringing & derailing my train of thought so I better sign off for now. I really just wanted to check in before I got too behind on all the posts, but it might be too late for that!
