Afternoon, friends! :flower3:

We just got home from the pool. Good times! I got a lot of reading in! :thumbsup2

Linda, your plans for Dec look wonderful!! My family is going in Dec too! The first week. We have not been since May 2003, so we are really excited! We booked our dining last week.

I've never used TGM. Is he pretty helpful then?

for the most part it is really just common sense, like hitting the main attractions at park opening etc. but he does have some helpful things in there as well that to me, when you're spending a few k on vacation, what's another $20 for some extra tips to make our trip better ;)
I am so excited! it will be so awesome.:cloud9: 2003:eek: you DO need a trip:laughing: You'll have a blast I'm sure. My boss will be there that week too...better for the lighter crowds! Mike wanted to go over Christmas...as if I'm going to say NO:lmao: :rotfl2:

pozey...those pix are just incredible!!! and $45 for McD!!!:scared1: well, I have seen lobster on the menu at McD's before...in Maine of coarse ;) that is pricey:rolleyes: they just take advantage of their location!

Hi everyone!!!!

Happy Monday! (yeah, right ;) ) Well I'm happy because Linda informed me that she got my room for the Poly  I am so, so excited about this trip!!

Jeremiah & I have decided to cancel the Sept. trip and go ahead and go in Dec. We didn't think we could afford both, and he said we wouldn't be "canceling" the Sept trip but "rescheduling" it until next year. I told him December 07 and September '08 is too big of a gap to not be in Disney ;) (We have to go to the Cliquless Convention in Sept!!!) so he said April or maybe May we can save for another trip at a value.

That awesome rate is still on Southwest so I have to cancel my September ressies and use the credit for that :3dglasses

I'm alittle worried about crowds but this trip should be more about the atmosphere and everything and then if we miss something there is always another trip to look forward to!

Pozey, that is so cool that you saw Erin!!! I love all your pics and your trip report. And I'm glad you weren't involved with that prank- it did go too far!!!

Lyzziesmom- Glad you liked the movie!! I really enjoyed it. 4th of July Pizza or Chinese, hmmm sounds good!! :)

Amber, we've been at Nine Dragons. Chinese is Jeremiah's favorite type of food and he really liked it. It is good chinese- nothing spectacular or anything, but it was his one request for our next trip.

Ashley...this trip is going to be awesome!!! Yes, can't miss the 08' Cliqueless convention!!! NO NO NO!!! Jeremiah requests Nine Dragons and Mike requests Le Cellier... no problem ;) if that's all they request, then we're doing real good:rotfl2:

Bonnie - TGM gives ideas on which parks to go to on a given day of the week - both for mornings and evenings, we found that to be pretty helpful. I'm with Lyzziesmom, though, some of the info is outdated.

Pozey - sounds like you guys had another great couple days of the trip - loved the photos - I just can't get over how beautiful it is, I know I keep saying that... the sunset must have been incredible. $45 for McDonalds???? :scared1: That's just freakin' crazy.

Pozey and YM - my boss' dad works for NSU in Miami, and he just told me they're closing the school today and sending everyone home because of the Neosho river flooding. This is just crazy! We've got rain in the forecast for the rest of the week!

I feel bad for those in the northern part of Oklahoma. They are going to get all the water let out by the lakes and rivers in flooded Kansas. I'm sure it will continue on down to this part of the state eventually.

Have you seen how high the Arkansas river is? I mean, you can normally see the bottom of the river during normal times. I'm sure the Verdigris River will rise as well.

Ashley: I like going to WDW in May, but not during Spring Break! The weather is nice, not too hot yet, and the crowds weren't too bad. I'm so jealous of you guys at the Poly for Christmas! I'll have to go back and look at DznyFan's crowd pictures again to get it out of my system.

pozey: There's a trip highlight coming up? I'm in such suspense! Can't wait to hear what it was.

My phone just broke. As a receptionist, this is bad news. It still technically works, but the cradle where the handset rests broke off. I wasn't even slamming it down! Not that I ever do that...
So now I have the handset just sitting on the desk - luckily the cradle doesn't actually hang up the phone, there's a "release" button that does that. It looks awful, and keeps getting in my way. (Translation: I keep knocking it with the mouse while trying to DIS!) And whenever the phone rings I keep reaching into midair to pick up the handset that isn't there, and then I keep dropping it trying to hang it up on a cradle that's not there! This company seriously needs to update their equipment ASAP. The phone company doesn't even have new parts because this particular system was discontinued years ago. We're due to upgrade this year, but nobody knows when -- I'll believe it when I see it.

Apparently my boss is not coming today after all. She had mentioned coming today for reviews but once again, I have no idea when my review will be. This is getting ridiculous, not to mention nerve-wracking. At least at my last job, I knew I'd be getting a good review. Here, I have no idea.

It seems like it's been raining here for the past 3 weeks! But I would rather have it rain than be really hot!
That's the only saving grace is the lower temps!!

Lyzziesmom -perhaps your phone dilemma is a sign... Sorry, can't work, phone's broke. too bad, gotta go home.
Think they'd buy it?

I have a few pictures uploaded so far.

Briana, Zach and Lilly in the MK before our breakfast ressies at CP. I love getting in before the park is open...such great shots!!

Day 8 – Saturday, June 23rd
Well, this is the one day of any vacation that everyone dreads………..the last day. But it is also our most anticipated day. We have a helicopter tour over the Grand Canyon scheduled.

GC5007.jpg

We wake up early to go have breakfast in the hotel restaurant again. We finish breakfast pretty early and we are supposed to be at the Grand Canyon Airport at 10:30 for our 11:00 flight. The Grand Canyon airport – which is an airport specifically for airplane and helicopter tours – is literally ½ a mile from our hotel. The planes that land there, well, we were able to see the pilot’s face when they would come in to land. It was pretty cool.

Anyway, we had a little time to kill, so we walked to this Native American craft festival they were having next door to the hotel. They were pretty much just setting up everything, but DW wanted to find a bracelet she was looking for. She said she wanted to come back later.

Well, now we go over to the airport. We check in and they make us watch a safety video. The helicopters are taking off about every 15 – 25 minutes. Finally, it is our time to board. Colton is the lucky passenger who gets to sit in the co-pilot’s seat. The rest of us are in the back.

We start out flying over the Forest that we had taken our Sunset Jeep tour through the night before. And then the pilot says we are approaching the rim……..and the view when you read the rim and first fly over the Grand Canyon is breathtaking. I look over at DW and she has tears in her eyes. Absolutely incredible.

The pilot talks to us through the headphones during the trip. And then he starts telling Colton about the controls. And of course…….he lets Colton “fly” the helicopter. What a thrill for him. And while the pilot is not speaking to us, there is “inspiring” music played through the headphones.

And then comes our “Disney” moment……the music that begins playing is the theme song to Fantasmic! As soon as it begins playing, Colton turns around and looks at me and smiles. A little bit if Disney at the Grand Canyon.

The helicopter tour lasts about an hour. We fly from the South Rim to the East Rim over by the North Rim and back. Completely awe-inspiring.

And way too soon, it is over. We get back and the pilot says he has to shut down for awhile and asks if we went to take pictures and look around. Of course we say yes. He was great.

DW said it was the best thing she had ever done. This coming from someone with a fear of heights. She really overcame her fear of heights on this trip.

After the helicopter tour, we go back to the Native American Festival. DW finds a bracelet she wants, as well as a few other items. I have a seat and watch the dancers.

After the Festival, we decided to go back to the rim and probably take one last little hike and say our good-bye to the Canyon. We took a few last looks and said our farewell. We were going to go back to the hotel, have dinner and have a little more pool time before getting to bed early. We planned on leaving for home about 6:00 am the next morning.

We once again have dinner at the hotel restaurant as the choices to dine in Tusayan is very limited. After dinner we get on our bathing suits and head to the pool. We pretty much have the pool all to ourselves. It is cold, but not nearly as cold as it was the other night. DW swims with us this time.

We go back to the room and pack up as much stuff as we can pack and load ahead of time. I have the van 90% packed before we go to sleep.

Ah……….the end of another fantastic pozey family vacation. Well, except for the ride home.

Lyzziesmom -perhaps your phone dilemma is a sign... Sorry, can't work, phone's broke. too bad, gotta go home.
Think they'd buy it?

I tried that... the phone people are coming out tomorrow. Dang it!

Lyzziesmom- I think since your phone is broken you should go home. ;)

Only 17 more minutes! I'm trying to decide where we should go for dinner. I'm hungry & want something with meat in it (I don't cook meat at home - reminds me of roadkill until it's plated up) but I don't want to spend too much.

Do you guys remember the picture I had in my signature of my kids on that oversized couch at the Boardwalk? Well now I have an even cuter one!!

How cute is that?!?!?!! Adorable!!

All the other pictures are great as well Michele!!

Day 9 – Sunday, June 24th
Well, that pretty much concludes my Grand Canyon trip report.

We left just about the time we had wanted – 6:00 am. It was a longer drive home than the drive out because we were 2 hours farther away than our original destination – Flagstaff.

The drive home was pretty un-eventful. Once again, the iPod and the FM Tuner were wonderful. We stopped for gas at the same places we stopped on the way out.

The kids were pretty tuckered out for awhile……
