Lin, what happened was, the root canal was preformed incorrectly. They left some nerve/root in the tooth, they didn't go down far enough to get it all out. And supposedly, that is what is bothering me. I don't know for sure because the dentist doesn't see anything with x-rays, so she referred me to an endodontist because she said they could x-ray it from different angles to find out for sure what tooth it is. She did say on the X-ray it looks like the root canal didn't go down far enough. If it is the tooth she thinks, they would have to go in through my gum to get to the nerve, because there is little actual 'tooth' left and it wouldn't be able to stand the normal root canal procedure. If that happened, (they did the normal root canal procedure) I would completely lose my tooth & there would be nothing to hold the crown onto. Thats why she says I need this surgery (if its the right tooth she thinks it is). Does that make sense?
