Who here is not in the "clique" like me? Part 4

If somebody can, could you recommend an insurance company/plan?? I'm thinking I can afford about 150 bucks a month. I'm just very confused and don't want to make the wrong decision. :sad2: I was looking at Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield.

YM, Why doesn't the policy sound good? Is it not normal for there to be a waiting period after you are enrolled with a company before certain things are covered?

My sister and her DH have an individual policy with Blue Cross and I think their waiting period was 30 days. I could ask her to be sure?

That stinks.

It does stink...I kept looking at your $$$ and thought soemthing is off. I should have just kept calling back until someone gave me the 40% off. It would make a big difference because airfare is not going to be cheap the weekend before Christmas. I'm thinking about changing our dates to fly home Chrismas day? Just thinking out loud.

I just called Blue Cross and they confirmed the waiting periods. You have to wait 6 months after enrollment to get covered for fillings/crowns etc. and 18 months for root canal/other oral surgeries. After that 50% of those are covered. I already applied but haven't been approved yet. I wonder if any other companies have a shorter waiting period. I wonder if there would be a cancellation fee if I canceled my application.

Ashley, I'd call back and ask..maybe they have a different plan that may be a few $ more a month w/o the waiting periods:confused3 definitely worth asking the question ;) Same thing w/the medical ins. they have so many plans... some w/higher monthly premium but you pay less % when you do use it...or lower monthly w/a higher % of the bill to pay... it's crazy. Then the deductibles:sad2: it's enough to give anyone a huge:headache: :headache: :headache: !!!! Good luck!

They said that is the only plan they offer and that policy/wait period is company wide no matter what other plan you pay for :confused3

Ashley, who did you say this company is? And how much a month?

Never mind, I went back and read - I'm kind of scattered this a.m.

Have you called around to get quotes from any different ones? Are there any HMO/PPO local groups in your area that also offer individual coverage? I can kind of understand the waiting period - they want to make sure that customers aren't signing up for insurance so they can get work done and paid for then dropping them after the work is completed and the claim is paid - but that seems like an awfully long time! I mean, you can't control (if your an honest customer) when you'll have dental trouble and need work done! I would continue to shop if you can.

bummer Ashley! I had my medical through BCBS and never had any problems but our dental was always through other co's, maybe that is why? We had Metlife I think it was...w/Snoopy as a mascot...it was REALLY good! Now we have delta dental...it's alright... it pays 80/20 except root canals and surgery, then the 50% coverage. I get my moneys worth w/fillings alone though. its only like $20 a month for family and single is like $7 a month for dental only. That might be b/c we're w/a large group through our whole company though.

I ran to UDF to fill up my car and grab a Mt. Dew:rolleyes1 and the girl ASKED me if I wanted my change back:eek:  uhhhh YEAH! :confused3 I just thought that was incredibly rude:sad2: Do I want MY change back:rolleyes: sorry, just had to vent on that one ;)

:sad2: I hate stuff like that.

I can't stand when we go to a restaurant and the waiter will ask if we want change. Can't he just say they will be right back with change and let me tell them to keep it? It's presumptuous. (I also hate when they give the bill to Mike; A woman can't pay?) These are two of my biggest pet peeves.

Oh that too!!! Mike and I keep our $ separate... so we take turns paying when we eat out...and they always hand him the bill:rolleyes: so I always have to say " I'll take that":teeth: :rolleyes1 Yes, they should always plan on bringing your change too:sad2: At a convenience store... she didn't even do anything but run the register...she wants a tip:confused3 not from me ;)

Ashley: I'd keep shopping around if I were you. If you think about how much you'll be paying in during the next 18 months, I bet it's a lot more than 50% of a root canal! I've always had coverage through my employer or through the state health department (Medicaid) so I'm not sure about individual plans and what's considered normal, but this does not sound like a good deal to me. I'd try to cancel immediately before they charge your card, it's probably more difficult to get a credit once it's been charged. That's just my opinion.

Yesterday I was at the mall with Lyzzie and she saw a display of Hello Kitty things, she said, "Oh Ashley from your Disney group would like that, can I buy it for her?" Sorry but I had to tell her no (she only had $2 and it was her own money) but I thought it was so sweet of her to remember!

Linda: Oh the nerve of that girl!! They do that here at Sonic, apparently some people tip the carhops at Sonic and some don't. I will IF they are really fast and remember condiments, but if they automatically try to keep the change I will ask for it back. Don't presume that I'll tip you, that's a surefire way to NOT get tipped!

Amber: I used to have a close male friend who would join me for dinner a lot, it drove me nuts when servers would assume we were married. Y'know, he'd go to the mens room and they would ask if I want to order for my husband. I'd always tell them, "I would if I had one." To me, that kind of stuff falls under the category of being Overly Friendly, which is very close to Fishing For Tips -- two of my biggest pet peeves.

So Emma left yesterday morning, and at first Lyzzie was so happy, she watched movies that Emma is too little for and ate ice cream in the living room and just generally had a good time. What was I doing all morning? Something I NEVER get to do with both kids home -- NAPPING!! It was awesome, I napped until noon! I can't remember the last time I did that. I took Lyzzie to the mall in the afternoon just for something to do, she bought herself some candy at the candy shop and otherwise we just looked around. By bedtime, Lyzzie was almost in tears because she missed Emma so much.

Ashley...lyzziesmom is right...what you'll pay in premiums, that would probably pay the bill to begin with!!!! w/o any coverage at all!!Plus tell them you don't have insurance, they may give you a price break or a payment plan ;)
Lyzzie is too sweet... Ashley would like that:cloud9: so cute!! Now she's missing Emma:love: and you got to NAP!!!:woohoo:
That is too funny, I use to go to lunch w/a co-worker everyday... and we got in the habit of asking for separate checks!

Good morning, everyone!!! The sun ish shining brightly in the east, but it looks a little dark in the west. Is it raining in St. Louis, 2x2s?
Let's enjoy a little breakfast in the warm sunshine while we have a chance.:sunny:

Just thought I'd jump back in for a little bite to eat! Yummmmmmy. St. Louis is rainy? Well, I think we get about two sunny days a year . Have a great Day!

:tigger: :tigger: :tigger: Good morning, Crew!!! I hope everyone survived their Monday!!! It was a little slow on the thread last night. Maybe today we'll all be a little perkier.:goodvibes

I hope everyone has a Tiggerific Tuesday!!!

I'm going to try to catch up a bit.....

Ashley:: Sorry for your insurance problems. I think as some of the others have mentioned; by the time you pay premiums and wait the 6 months for dental care you could just about pay for a dentist. Call around and find one you can afford. I pay my dentist at least 20% at time of visit and monthly thereafter. In December just make sure Jeremiah adds you to his insurance. I hope everything works out for you.

Dznyfan:: Glad to see you back!! I'm sure you're trip just flew by!! We want to hear all about it!! I want to see the pics, too!!

YourMajesty:: Sorry your day was off yesterday. Hope your DS is feeling better today!!! It's hard to get going after having a week off I guess.:rolleyes1
That's crummy that your codes got messed up for your December trip!!! Do you think something will be available a little closer to December maybe?? I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!!
btw...I just noticed you changed the cliqueless meet in your siggy to a :woohoo: instead of a  !!! You sly thing!!!;)

Lesa and Michele:: I'm still waiting patiently for the newest Lilly pictures!! How did the babystiiting go yesterday, Lesa?? Did the girls help you? I'll bet they are crazy about their new little cousin!!:cutie: You guys have a fun week together!!

Angela:: I'm waiting for your pictures too!!!:cool2: I want to hear all about your trip!!! how was the weather? How were the crowds?? Was it nice having a condo? How was the Poly??? Please share!!!

lyzziesmom:: That's so sweet that Lyzzie was missing Emma. Emma will be home before she knows it!!!

Hello to pozey, Nicole, Amber ( I just noticed your green light!!:wave2:), 2x2s (how you doing??), Linda, and anyone I might have missed!!! Have a great day!!

Good Morning!

Wow, it was quiet here last night.

Donna, that looks so good. I didn't have a chance to eat this morning, so I am starving.

I got my Disney Cruiseline video yesterday. :yay: I can't wait to watch it. We watched For Your Consideration instead. I love Christopher Guest movies, but I don't think this was his best.

Have a great day!
