Who here is not in the "clique" like me? Part 3

Morning all! My cards should go out today, I brought them to my mom's house for mailing but sometimes she forgets. I just have a mail slot at my house, so there is not really anyplace to put outgoing mail.

Lesa: perhaps I am in the minority here, and some might think I'm an awful person, but I don't buy gifts for teachers, troop leaders, bus drivers, etc. Family only. Lyzzie is always making crafts and cards & things, so she will make something for her teachers and anyone else she thinks of. Wet muddy dog + bathroom = yuck! Sorry you had to deal with that when you were not feeling well.

I'd like the peppermint bark recipe - I've never had peppermint bark but it sounds like something I would like! Is it easy to make?

Amber: that watch box sounds nice. I agree, Disney shopping online can take a very long time to ship, and their customer service is not too great. Didn't you just love Elf? It's one of our favorites, because it is just so funny but there's not really anything inappropriate in it.

Yolanda: accounting day, ick! I feel for you. I have such a tough time wrapping my mind around numbers and math. I guess because I am more of a language/creative type person.

Nicole: yay for a nice cake!

2x: Good luck with your new treatment on Monday. How often do you need to do the treatments? 8 hours is a very long time! I hope you have something to keep you occupied. Maybe you should pick up one of those newfangled PSP thingamajigs? I'm pretty sure they have a POC game. ;)

I had the strangest dream last night. I was at Disney and on the Dumbo ride with Emma. The door didn't close properly (I can't even remember if there really are doors on Dumbo, but last night there were!) and the guy told me to get on anyway. Well, the door opened while Dumbo was up high in the air - where for some reason I could see ToT and Epcot and the Expedition Everest and all the resorts, and the castle was HUGE? - and we had to hang on to a strap to pull the door shut & keep from falling out. I got off the ride and complained, and the CM told me it was no big deal. Even in my dream, my first thought was "wait till I get on the DISboards about this guy!" Anyway, I pestered him a lot about safety and whatnot, and he eventually gave me a dream fastpass that was good at all the parks, unlimited times! Also in my dream, I had my camera but forgot the batteries and charger. For some reason I was trying to take a picture of myself wearing the dream fastpass around my neck, but I couldn't see the picture so I kept missing myself. And then I realized that I did have more batteries & the charger after all, I was carrying them in a humongous purse! Weird.

2x2s & YourMajesty:: I'm sorry, I kind of butted in last night with the explanation of the PSP. I just get so excited when I actually know something! :rolleyes1 :surfweb:

I didn't say the pictures were perfect!!! I said they were somewhat decent.

Young lady...don't you roll your eyes at me.

And...thank you for the lovely PSP explanation with picture! Much better than I would have done!

That list looks very good for Nathan. I guess we will be getting a "wireless" psp controller in the future. :rolleyes1

Oh...Donna...thanks for the muffins. :yay:

Lesa...you poor thing. I sometimes wake up dizzy like you described and it's awful. :goodvibes I almost went to check my bathroom when you were describing the dog/mud/bathroom story. Hope you are feeling better today. I would get something small for the leaders...the liquid pump soaps from bath and body works are always nice. We do teachers and I spend around $20....gift card or classroom gift. It is nice to keep a few extra ornaments/candies...etc for someone last minute.

DnzyFan...wow...nice description of Mr Austin... Have fun shopping.

Yolanda...I'm sure you will be glad when today is over...sounds like lots of work...but a movie tomorrow... :woohoo: :woohoo:

Angela.... all this talk about peppermint bark makes me want to try some too!

Well, I'm off to Christmas parties at school today and then to do a little shopping. :dance3:

I had a dream about Disney too last night! :rotfl: My dream was about POP. I guess I was on the Legendary side, and the buildings were horrible. They were falling apart. They looked abandoned (kinda like how they are now only worse), but there were plenty of people there and the front desk was outside in a shack! Then I was at the lake and could see the Classic years all nice and new! I hope the legendary years side doesn't look like my dream whenever they open! :rotfl:

We watched Elf last night. It was the first time either of us had seen it. It is just too funny.
Tomorrow, I have to brave the stores and complete my Christmas shopping. I am so scared.
I am waiting on a watch box I bought from Disneyshopping to arrive (it's the black one with Mickey heads on the top). I want to get Mike a watch this weekend to go in it (he collects watches). I hope the box makes it here in time (but Disney has really gone downhill, so I'm not holding my breath).

Have a great day and I'll be back later!

Hi Amber...everyone is making me want to see Elf. Who is in it and was it made for kids? Hope you get the watch box on time. pixiedust: Good luck with your shopping!

:wave2: Nicole....is you class over or was that just the first phase?

2xcited....I will be praying that your treatment goes well on Monday...that's is successful with NO complications. :flower3:

Oh...2x....have a nice stay with Mr Austin. :teeth:

lyzziesmom...the homemade carafts/cards are great...especially if you have a little one that will do them.

Now...back to your dream. I was reading about the dream fastpass and the Castle room. Are you automatically entered in the the contest if you are staying on property? :confused3

No, I have 2 or 3 more classes for the first part, then I'll probably take the second level classes next month. Then after that, there is one more level of classes left for me to take. I would love to turn this into a little side business. I have spent a lot of time at the Wilton message boards looking for tips and inspiration. I saw a cute Mater cake and one of Lightning McQueen. I want to make them! I can't wait until I get more advanced. I have to have a cake baked for Monday and we are going to put elephants on it.

I want to see Elf too. I have never seen it.

Yolanda got your PM!! Thanks for the encouragement about potty training, besides my own mentalness (is that a word?) about being preoccupied with poop (sorry hope no one was eating) is that I get comments from mom, mil etc who tell me what I should be doing. It's been almost a year and I have tried EVERYTHING including making him wash out his own undies (which he actually enjoyed and said he loved his new job! :rotfl: ) and I have come to realize you can't do anything to make another person do something they do not want to do. But thanks to you all for listening to me! Lyzziesmom Emma might be potty trained before Ben! :teeth:

One other thing I got last night from a parent was a disposable tin filled with miscellaneous homemade yummies including a pretzel stick dipped in white chocolate on one end. That has got to be simple and I've seen them rolled in sprinkles etc. Just another idea.

Ok here is the Peppermint Bark receipe for all. I have not made this before but this is the receipe used to make the Bark I got last night!

Peppermint Bark

3 pounds white chocolate wafers (NOT CHIPS)
1 pound green and red mint chips

*Grease 1 large or 2 small cookie sheets with butter or cover with wax paper.
*Place wafter in large microwavable bowl and cook on high for 2 minutes then Stir
*Cook on high 3 minutes or until wafers are ALMOST melted.
*Stir in green and red mint chips.
*Pour evenly onto cookie sheets, cover with wax paper.
*Refrigerate until cool; overnight is best.
*Turn out of pan onto chop block or countertop and crack with sharp knife or hammer.

This stuff melts in your mouth, very yummy!

Oh the potty training days! I certainly don't miss those!! :rolleyes1 Good luck by the way! ;)

Thanks for the idea! This peppermint bark sounds so yummy and easy too! :thumbsup2 It's unlike the other peppermint bark recipes I have seen.

I think I am going to get each leader a gift card to blockbuster. I don't think I'm up to making anything tonight. I am going to have to try making the bark for other gifts I need. :thumbsup2 I also found a recipe for really cute chocolate reindeer pretzels that sound pretty easy.http://www.bettycrocker.com/Recipes/Recipe.aspx?recipeId=35982

YM, Elf is so funny. It has Will Ferrell, James Caan, Ed Asner, and others. Kids and adults can watch it. There's nothing really bad in it and has a good message.

I am reading the thread about quick and easy Christmas treats http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=973110&page=1&pp=15

Some of the recipes sound so good (especially the chocolate popcorn). I will be making treats this weekend! (Start on pages 24 &29, someone posted a list of all recipes until that point).

Lesa those chocolate reindeers are too cute and I'm sure super yummy!

I must've missed the Elf conversation!! YM have you not seen Elf? We've got it on DVD and I love it. My favorite line from the movie from Will Farrell (aka "Elf" :teeth: ) "You stink. You smell like beef and cheese. You don't smell like Santa." :rotfl2: :lmao: See it and report back!

I went to Toys R Us today and all the gameboy DS are sold out!! They just got in 6 more (still in the box) but they were pink. I'm thinking DS for Connor's birthday in June, he's not expecting one and I went onto Ebay and got him a pokemon skin to go over his gameboy sp to liven it up a bit! Does anyone else get motion sick almost from walking around in stores? I come out of places with the beginning feeling of motion sickness, heavy head and feeling hot. What is up with that? That is why I hate shopping, Lyzziesmom I guess I'm like your mom in that way. And I hate, hate, hate trying on clothes. Why can't all sizes really be the same size? :confused3

:lmao: There are so many funny lines from that movie.

Two of my favorites are "It's just like Santa's workshop! Except it smells like mushrooms... and everyone looks like they wanna hurt me... " and "I just like to smile! Smiling's my favorite. "

I might have to watch it again this weekend :happytv:

Hi, everyone! I'm making a fast supper and then it will be on to the Cub Scout party.

Lesa:: I just had a brainstorm about the leader gifts!!!! Why not give them each one of your handmade ornaments??!! I though they looked extemely nice, and who wouldn't appreciate an ODD ornament!!! Really!!! :sunny:

Angela:: I think my sister would love the peppermint bark!! She looked for some the other day, but couldn't bring herself to pay the $10 they wanted for a tin of it.
When I was trying to potty train Nathan, my mother was always good about giving me advice. She always commented on how easty we were to tain and that we were trained by the time we were TWO!!! Oh, come on!!!
They'll start when they're ready, not when we're ready.

lyzziesmom:: That was quite a strange dream you had last night!! At least you got a dream pass out of it!! I wish I could have a Disney dream. I'll let you all know when I do.
Can't wait to get your cards in the mail!! I'm sure they are the best!

YourMajesty::Did you get any shopping done?

Well, the timer is going off...supper is ready!!!
See you all later!! :wave2:

Now you guys are making me want to watch Elf again, and we just watched it last week! The kids are always watching the Wiggles and something called The Upside Down Show, which is driving me nuts. But at least it keeps them occupied & quiet.

I got Lin's card today, it's really cute! It's my first Cliqueless Card so far, I was so happy to see something in the mail that wasn't a bill or junk mail for the house's previous (deceased) owner.

I came home at lunchtime today to wrap gifts, but by the time I checked the mail, turned on the heat, drug out all the wrapping paraphernalia, unloaded the car, and sorted through all the stuff, I only had time to wrap 4 gifts before it was time to clean up & go back to work. At this rate it will take me forever! I guess I'll just have to get the kids to bed early and do it while I'm watching my evening tv.

Angela, that peppermint bark looks interesting! I'm confused about the ingredients though. Is the white wafers the same thing as white almond bark? (That's what I melt & dip pretzel sticks in, and sometimes cover in sprinkles. Yummy!) And what are the red & green chips? Like chocolate chips? Wouldn't they melt too? Or is that the point? I'm sorry I'm so clueless. I have never even seen peppermint bark, for some reason I thought it had crushed up candy cane pieces in it.

Lesa, the link for the reindeer pretzels is not working for me, but they sound cute.

We still have a ton of cookies to make! I just haven't been in the mood after work, I'm usually too tired to worry about it. I hope I can find the energy this weekend. I've been trying to ease off the meds and it makes me so bone-tired weary when I don't take them that it's hard to do anything.

What is everyone doing this weekend? I hope to get those cookies made! I'd like to take the kids to the Plaza to see the lights & shop, since we are having some freakishly warm weather (65+ tomorrow!) but I'm not sure if we will make it there. On Sunday, Lyzzie's teacher is going to see the new Charlotte's Web movie and has invited the class & their families to go at the same time. I also invited my new friend from work, she might be able to go. I'm still a little freaked out about the spider though!

ETA: Donna, my mom tells me the same thing about potty training. She always tells me how my brother & I were trained by the age of two. I don't believe it. I remember my brother having lots of accidents, and I actually remember having one so I must have been at least three. I'm hoping Emma's new potty will get her interested but so far she just wants to "help" everyone else, especially with t.p. and flushing. :confused3

I never thought of that! Good idea!! :thumbsup2

I was feeling better this evening so I went and bought stuff to make the peppermint bark. I didn't find the red and green chips, but I bought the white almond bark and candy cane kisses. I melted the almond bark and added the kisses until all was melted. Then spread it in a foil lined cookie sheet. The kisses turned it a pink color. I must say, it was yummy! I was going to make more, but the girls and I literally licked the bowl clean! :rolleyes1 I will make more this weekend.

I stopped at Trader Joes tonight to pick some stuff up. I bought some Irish cream filled chocolates. The girl that checked me out said she had never tried them and asked if I had, I told her no. She told me to wait there and came back with a box for us to try. :teeth: All I can say is one could get a little tipsy eating a few of those! :rolleyes1

Lizziesmom... try doing a search of the Betty crocker website under holiday, they have some really cool recipes. I don't know why the link won't work! :confused3

I have never seen Elf, but the girls are watching it right now. They are both cracking up at Will Farrel belching. :happytv:

I made pretzel wreaths and they turned out pretty good! Not like last week when I used the regular chocolate kisses instead of the hugs.

I got Lin's card too, and mailed out mine.

Well, I just finished the Christmas cards!!! :woohoo: I'm mailing them in the morning!!

Wow!!! All of this talk of goodies is making me hungry!! I already need to be on my post-holiday diet!

lyzziesmom:: I got a couple of presents wrapped at work today. Hopefully I'll get them done by next week!! Geesh, where does the time go?

2x2s:: I keep meaning to ask you about your work Christmas party. Wasn't it supposed to be a formal dress/prom kind of thing? I hadn't heard you mention it. :rolleyes1

I need to buy Christmas gifts for DH's Cub Scouts. I was thinking of gift certificates for video rentals and from Dairy Queen. Does this sound alright? They are 8-year old boys, I really don't know what else to do.

Has anyone seen Barnyard? I rented it this evening. I had read some mixed reviews about it, but looked like something Nathan might enjoy.

The only thing I have planned for the weekend is Nathan's basketball game at 1:20pm on Saturday. I need to finish the Christmas shopping and get them wrapped.

It's about time for nighty-night in my house. Hope everyone enjoyed their evening. :goodvibes

Evening everyone!!!

I hope April enjoys Raglan Road! That is the ONLY priority seating I have scheduled so far for January. I told my sil that no matter what we were eating there...

Nicole, thanks for the tip about the budget board thread! I cannot decide what to get my grandparents and was thinking of making them something. I am going to have to take a cake decorating class! I LOVE to bake!

Angela, thanks for posting the recipe! I am going to make some!

Lesa, I saw your post and I couldn't remember where I saw it! I thought it was its own thread! Anyway, I would get something "real" for the real leader and maybe like 5.00 Starbucks cards for the assistants. Did you get your daughters exchange gift yet? I meant to tell you that Christmas Mini Bean Bag Plush is under 5.00 at TDS right now. I've sold that to LOTS of little brownies for their exchanges. ETA: I LIKE DONNA'S IDEA!

I've never seen Elf either. I am now inspired to rent it!

Lyzziesmom, glad you liked your card! Your dream cracked me up! Glad you are getting a "New to you" computer at work!

My weekend plans include work and work. But, I am getting my hair dyed and highlited Saturday morning. My mom has a parent at her school that is an awesome cosmetologist. She is going to do it all for 50.00! Now, I have the hair of a horse...thick, thick, thick...I even used to use equine shampoo. I have never had someone quote me less than 175 to dye and highlite my hair. Last time I dyed it was the month before my wedding...in 2004!

Donna: wrapping presents at work? I wish I could do that! I got about 1/2 of it done tonight. I sat on the floor so I could spread out and now my back really hurts! I think I'll sleep good tonight though. Maybe another wacky Disney dream? Have not seen Barnyard - the cows with udders & deep male voices freaked me out too much in the previews. I wouldn't be able to think of anything else! I can't help with the gift ideas, I am too mystified by young boys. (And older ones too!) I think your ideas sound good though!

Lin: your hair sounds like mine! Every hairdresser I've gone to is amazed at how thick my hair is. And it can't decide whether to be curly or straight. Lately it's been wavy, but really curly on the underneath layer. I usually just give up and let it do its thing, or blow dry it straight(ish) which takes forEVER! I'm fighting the urge right now to chop it all off, because I know it'll look good when it gets a little longer, then I'll be able to just 'wash & wear' and it'll be heavy enough not to pouf out so much.

Goodnight chicas (and pozey)!
