Great news about "our" boys yesterday!! Yay Colton! Yay Matt!

I got a bit of sad news yesterday, my grandmother passed away. This was not unexpected, as she has been sick for many years and was about 96 years old, but still. For some reason my parents don't want me to go to the services, or even to use my bereavement leave at work to take care of my own kids while my folks go. (It's in Minnesota.) So they have come up with this hare-brained scheme that they will take Emma with them and have the neighbors babysit Lyzzie so she doesn't miss more school; one neighbor in the morning and another in the pm while I'm at work. This seems way too complicated to me. I've already spoken to my boss and I am entitled to the time off, so I don't really see what the problem is (or what business it is of my parents' whether I take the time off or not). I think that my folks are under the impression that I must attend the services in order to get the time off, and I'm pretty sure that's not the case. I'll have to talk to my boss again to clarify. I don't really think it's a good idea to bring Emma to a funeral - the girl is NOT the quiet type!

Lyzzie told me this morning that she witnessed a car accident yesterday after school. Actually, the kids sitting on the other side of her bus saw it, and Lyzzie just saw a car upside down and a woman lying on the ground. The kids think it was a mom on her way to pick up a kid from school. I have no tv yet so I didn't see anything about it, but how scary for the kids!! And for her to not even tell me until today!?!

The house is starting to come together, I've got the living room and bedroom furniture arranged but I am still living in Box City. I can't find anything and it's driving me crazy(er)! I was kind of hoping for a couple days off while my parents to go MN so I can have time to get the house in order. (This is where my mom would look at me and say "me, me, me.")

Donna, let me know how Six Flags is! I've been to the ones in TX and GA, but they were both a looooong time ago. I remember having a lot of fun, but then again, I really like theme parks so I am determined to have fun even at the crummy ones.

YM, if it's not too late, have a nice trip! (see you next fall!) Sorry, my inner 6-year-old couldn't resist.

Nicole, I can see your Tink just fine, but yesterday she was gone for a little while. She is a flighty girl, that Tiki-bell! (As Emma calls her).

I know I like JUST got back, but I'm sooo insanely jealous of all of you who have upcoming trips! If it wasn't for the awful effects the humidity & heat have on me, I'd seriously consider moving back to FL. Did I tell you guys that I went to college in Orlando? I missed a lot of classes, but I did get my monthly WDW fix!

Back to work, I'll check in again later.

Lesa, I just saw your post... what a day for you! That siding guy sounds like he's related to my (former) maintenance guy - what a dolt. Good luck with getting it all done, and turn the tv way up to drown out the banging!

Just for the record, when I broke my elbow there was no swelling or bruising, just a lot of pain. But if her hand feels a little better after a day, it's probably fine. If it starts to hurt more, I'd have it checked out. I am the Queen of Klutzes, and have had many false alarms where I thought I broke something, but then when I actually did... well you can definitely tell the difference.

Good morning, good morning - I was going to sing a song, but I can't come up with anything. The neurons aren't firing too well yet this a.m.

CONGRATULATIONS TO:
Colton and Matt!! party: :dancer: :dance3: :woohoo: :cheer2:

Michele - Sounds like Matt's team is pretty impressive! Is this JV ball he's playing? I'm sure your coach is an OK guy - losing coaches love to accuse of 'running up' scores when they're trounced so badly.

he said he couldn't wait to get off and actually drive a car again I bet that would be weird! I drive about 1k miles a WEEK...after going on the cruise for 7 nights it is weird to me to drive again for a few minutes....and you're still walking w/the sway ...
I can relate to the "driving" thing - we never drive when we go to WDW, so we've gone usually a week and more without driving, and it IS strange to drive again! I can't imagine what it'd be like going 6 months and then driving again. I don't remember where Brian was from - I want to say she told me back east somewhere... :confused3

YM - Good luck to DH for his marathon!! Have a safe trip!

Donna - Oh, man, breakfast looks YUMMY! Thanks for all you do! Have a fun time at Six Flags!

Lyzziesmom- :grouphug:  to you. So sorry to hear about your Grandmother. I think you need to follow your gut instinct and do what YOU feel is right. And what an awful thing for the kids to see! So sad.

That's just mom's way to find out just how sick they are! If they are really sick it is always "I don't care", but if we are just not feeling well but will survive it's "I'll go to school" or "I'll go back to class". They do actually get to watch t.v. if they are home sick.
Good for you! I'm the same way - no TV, no computer. She's never been one to stay home much, (unless she really IS sick) she likes to socialize WAY to much! Besides, If they are really sick, they don't want to do anything, anyway. So, then, a little TV while they're piled up on the couch is OK. pixiedust: for your sanity, and your girls' ailments. Hopefully Evel Kenevel (sp?) learned from her 'accident'!

:wave2: Amber, Ashley, Nicole, pozey, Jill, and anyone I've missed....

Thanks for the sympathy everyone. I talked to my boss and she said it's fine for me to take a couple days off, as long as I don't mention to anyone else that I'm not actually attending the services. Have I mentioned that I love my boss??

My mom's neighbor knows the woman that the kids saw in the accident outside of school. Apparently she clipped a lawn maintenance trailer with her SUV and it flipped, the police & crew were already there by the time the buses went by and the woman is ok but still in the hospital.

Hi to everyone and TGIF!!

lyzziesmom......I am so sorry for your loss. You have my deepest condolences.

And that is scary for a child to witness an accident like that. Hugs to Lyzzie. :grouphug:

So, what college did you attend in Orlando? Would that be University of Central Florida?

I was born in Florida, and I really want to move back. But there are a lot of things here in Oklahoma that keep me here.

Hi everyone :wave2:

Amber and Linda- I was glad when the chickens got away too! I never like to watch that. (I know, hypocrite, I like to eat chicken and not watch them getting killed... :confused3 )

Lyzziesmom, Sorry about your grandma. My great-grandma died last September and it was very hard for all of us. I can't believe its been almost a year!

A week from right now, I will be on the plane getting ready to take off to WDW!!

Nicole, 12 days! :teeth:

:grouphug: Lyzziesmom :grouphug: I'm so sorry for your loss. It is still hard even when it is expected. You are lucky to have such a great boss :cool1: give you some time to get unpacked and organized some :thumbsup2 thumb of coarse!

Hi YM :wave2: have a safe trip on your way over. Tell dh to take turns w/the laptop :teeth:

Donna that breakfast is fantastic!!

Lesa, don't feel bad... we all have those moments. If we gave in every time..they'd never go to school!! Kenny use to try "my belly hurts" to get out of eating all the time but I just don't give in anymore and he eats so much better. That's kids...they try everything in the book... good luck w/the siding!

Ashley :Pinkbounc 7 DAYS :Pinkbounc !!!! I agree w/you and Amber... glad they got away...I don't want to see that...ewwww...feathers would be everywhere...but that may come back to haunt that girl for them getting loose... now they'll all have to hear them clucking around..a constant annoyance and reminder... :confused3 but that's the game! I got Mike watching Survivor w/me..he got me watching American Idol w/him :teeth: he can't stay up late enough for Parco PI... I love that show!!! when we met I didn't watch much adult tv...mostly disney channel for Kenny...he'd call...what are you watching... ummm The Wiggles :lmao: now Kenny has a tv in his room;)!!

So, what is on everyone's agenda for this weekend?

Anyone have big plans?

I plan on surprising DW tomorrow morning. She has to go in to work for a little while. So, while she is at work, I plan on installing a new faucet for the kitchen sink. She has been mentioning for some time that she would like to replace the faucet.

So, on the way home from work tonight, I think I'll stop at Lowe's and pick up a new one. Then, while she is at work, I'll install it.

Then, at 2:30 tomorrow, the OU vs. Oregon football game is on, so I will definitely be watching that.

Anyone else???

burgers/drinks/lounging at some friends' tonight. Putting up a new fence tomorrow (DH) and cleaning the house/laundry. Shopping for mobiles on Sunday. ooooweee! fun weekend, eh? oh, and football. As much football as I can squeeze in between the other stuff.

Jeremiah and I are both getting our haircut this weekend.

He also wants to go to the comic book store  to have something to read on the plane.

That's about it.

I'm thinking about trying to talk DW into trying Bonefish Grill for dinner tomorrow night. We've never tried it, and I have heard good things about it.

But it will be tough to talk her into it......she LOVES Mexican food.......especially Ted's Cafe Escondido.

Unpacking and rearranging furniture. Doing something fun for Lyzzie for her REAL birthday on Sunday. (As if 10 days of WDW b-day pampering wasn't enough!) Maybe Chuck E Cheese, if I can stand it.

pozey - Bonefish is really good. It was surprisingly quiet, considering there's not a lot of sound absorbing surfaces in there, the service has been excellent the times we've been, and the food is great! If you're a fan of spicy dishes, there is an appetizer called Bang Bang Shrimp - which is a lightly breaded and fried shrimp that is served in a creamy, spicy sauce.... yum.
