corn burner? pardon my oklahoma naivete, but what's a corn burner?

Hi everyone!

After class last night I went out for some drinks with a few friends to celebrate my friend Hollys birthday. Tomorrow we are going to a bar b que, besides that it will be pretty much studying and preparing my last presentation, it has to be a persuassive I am doing it on nutrtion.

I think I am going to quit my job. I like the people I work with alot, but my boss can be so unbelievably inconciterite and I have just had it. He is very high maintenance but he thinks he is easy going so he jst doesnt see it. We have all tried toalking with him alot but nothing ever changes, he just doesnt get it and I am sick of being stressed out about it. It isnt worth it. So now I am on a job hunt. I should add that I am not going to quit until I do have another job bc that would be just silly.

ohhh I love crab cakes!!!

DznyFan :teeth: a corn burner is a stove that burns corn for heat. They're pretty popular in your colder states...obviously;) Mike started researching them last year. he worked w/people out at the guard that had them and loved them...some had the outside stoves you throw wood in..but that is just too dirty and too much work!! Our gas bills were a little high but nothing ridiculous... but w/corn.... its really cheap :cool1: some stoves burn corn, cherry pits, olive pits etc...but we bought the one that only burns corn...and no it does't just heat up and make popcorn :rotfl: !!! It has to be dry and have only a certain % of moisture and all that crazy stuff...but basically it just hooked into our existing ducting and is really easy to take care of etc. Now we heat about 2500 sq. ft. at 76-78 degrees for $105 a month in the dead of winter!!! That was a little too warm...so this year well knock it down to maybe 73..and that will probably only be $90 a month!! that's cheap!! we go through about 2k # a month...we just go to the mill and get it in bags...it is really cozy!! like this...http://www.cornstoves.info/overview.html

it cost about 3k to buy it and have it installed..but it has been well worth it!! we had to get on a waiting list in Sept. and we didn't get it until Jan!! They're becoming very popular around here... sorry for the long version...must be tired.... :wave2: time to relax!! have a good one everybody.

Wow I dont think I have ever seen it so quiet here. I hope everyone had a nice night and I will see ya (well Ill see your words) tomorrow. Goodnight :wave2:

Good Morning everyone!!!

Fortunatly the concert is a seperate ticket event, but still, I have a feeling it's gonna' be a crazy  day!!!!!

Enjoy!!!
Hope everyone has an Out of Sight Saturday!!!

Wow!!! It was quiet here last night. Did the person with the Talking Stick fall asleep!!?? Maybe everyone needed a rest!! :sunny:

Linda:: To be honest I have never heard of a corn burner, either. Sounds very interesting. When we built our house we had Geothermal(Water Furnace) put in. Our electric bill for heating/air, appliances...everything never gets over $100. These days you have to do what you have to do to get those energy bills down!!!

Precious Pixie::Good luck with your new job hunt. Sometimes it's just time to move on. Ooohh..the BBQ sounds good!!! Have a good time!!!

DznyFan::I agree with everyone else, Erin would make the perfect Belle!! She has beautiful eyes and such a georgeous smile!!! Have fun picking out your lake house this weekend!! :thumbsup2

lyzziesmom::Sorry for the loss of your Grandmother. she will find peace in heaven. :grouphug:
I will most certainly let you know about Six Flags/St. Louis!! I have been to the one in Georgia also, but that was in like 1995!!! We usually get to the one in St. Louis about once a year. This trip our main reason is to ride the Batman ride, the coaster that your legs hang and it has inverted loops etc!!(Kind of like Dueling Dragons at IOA) It's just not Disney. :sad2:

pozey::Good luck with that kitchen faucet. What kind did you decide on?? Mine is nothing fancy, but has the sprayer that pulls from the main faucet. I love it!! Have a good time watching good ole football!!

Nicole::I see your Tinkerbell just perfetly this morning!!! Maybe she is all fixed now!! :tinker:

2x2s::Have a fun day baking and preparing!! How was your lunch yesterday? I saw you didn't post last night. I hope you were getting some rest. I was crashed on the couch while DH was Ebaying and DS was watching whatever was on Nickleodeon!! Have a super day, maybe we'll chat tonight!

Ashley::OK!!!! Now you can start saying " A week from today we'll be...." :yay: :yay: :yay: Actually I know what it is....
Saturday, Epcot Day again!! Lunch reservations at Coral Reef at 2pm. I think I may go to Magic Kingdom at night to see Wishes, or I may just stay at Epcot to see Illuminations. I don't think I'll be able to see it Friday, since it starts at 9pm.
Mrs Nosey...Just doing her job!!!!!! :teeth: :listen:

Well, I must go hop in the shower and start our fun-filled day!!! Will report later this evening if I am able!! Have a wonderful day!!!!!

Nicole - your very own f&wf sound like a great time!

Pozey - How did the handyman job go? Was your DW surprised?

Lyzziesmom - Have you been able to find your marbles yet I am sure that they are in the last box. (ok I should explain when we were little and would move my mom would always be running around like crazy and we use to say that she lost her marbles) How do the girls like their new rooms?

Dznyfan - Have fun house hunting just think to your self yes I can picture my self here unwinding from a disney trip

Lesa - Hi I hope you are having a great weekend. Are the worker going o be there over the weekend?

2x - Maybe you decided to go to karaoke last night and practice a few songs and then you had a few drinks and when you got home you were too tired to post. Or maybe it was just the end of the week and were just like me and could have fallen asleep on the couch at pm!

YM - Good luck to your DH :cheer2: and I am with you on the porta potties

:3dglasses (I just think this is a cute smiley)

Oh yeah I forgot to mentionwhat I will be doing today....
Right now I am taking a break from the joy of cleaning and laundry, then of course we have the bbq later but it looks like it is going to storm out. I am going to have to give my friend a call and see if it is going on rain or shine

Hi guys  I just found this thread and read the first page with interest because it sure does sound like you've turned into a clique now from reading the last page :teeth: Boy I know how I feel when I read the same people over and over and they almost talk in code, and the threads move so fast that you can't keep up.
Anyway, just wanted to say that if you have started the anti-clique clique then thats great and more power to you, everybody should be acceptable somewhere and these boards have proved invaluable time and again, not just for trip planning but for personal crisis too, I love it here and i love giving out as much as I get back. :grouphug: :grouphug: to all and have a great day,

Today has been a good day so far... as you can see, the cable guy(s) came on time and got me all hooked up so now I can get my DIS fix!! Yay! I have a lot to do to get ready for Lyzzie's birthday tomorrow - forgot to buy a cake and need to find the presents & wrapping paper & scissors & tape. I might just do like my mom does and hand her a Target bag full of gifts "here you go!" Nah, that's not my style.

I used my new internet connection to find my local Papa John's and order a pizza, since I still can't find most of my stuff. Including my marbles!

Hey evaone---

I've had a couple of hard days so I am wiped. The treatments really seemed to have taken a toll on me this week.

It was kind of funny yesterday morning---I was sound asleep and all of a sudden I woke up--very peacefully, mind you, turned over and looked at the clock---6:52--my first client was at 7:10. Imagine my dismay!! I have no idea how I managed but I was only 10 minutes late . Remember, I told you I live 20-25 min. away from work??(can you say lead-foot?? :car: ) Not to mention the quicky rinse -this, rinse -that shower, pull the hair back and no makeup?? Lovely. I really need you early birdies to give me a call to wake me up because it seems that my alarm clock is pretty much useless---I evidently sleep right through it. :teeth:

After work I took my mom to lunch for her birthday and then I came home and crashed. I have a bit of a crushing headache today but I must get out of this house and run some errands. We have somewhat planned the menu for tomorrow's dinner which goes something like this----some sort of chicken, some sort of veggie and some sort of carb. ;) And of course, the chocolate molten cakes. YUM This will be my favorite part, at least my sweet tooth thinks. A gift is easy---I just need to get a card and put money in it because once again my mom has bought herself something she wants then announces that this is what we are giving her for her birthday. Really personal, huh??

Now, for the fun part--catching up with all of you!!

MImom--hope you are feeling better with your cold. Are you getting rest??

Donna--thanks for breakfasts---I wasn't able to partake yesterday but I enjoyed the virtual bagel this morning. My fav--pumpernickel (lightly toasted, of course) with cream cheese, sliced tomato and capers.
Six Flags, huh?? You passed right by me if you took Hwy. 44. We could have met for a quick breakfast at Cracker Barrel if I didn't fill up on bagels. :teeth:
Have fun--I heard something on the radio about the Raven concert there. Good Luck.
Thanks for asking about my lunch yesterday. I took her to Maggiano's at the Boulevard by the Galleria. We went last year as well, so I suppose this is somewhat of our tradition now. Sad, but the food is just okay--we got soup and salad--but I love the atmosphere. Dark wood, red checked cloths, vintage looking china. And best of all--Frank Sinatra singing (not in person, of course--that's impossible). It has such a old New York Little Italy feel. Love the desserts, though!!!!!

DznyFan---yay for the consideration for Erin's choir at CP!!! This would be amazing!! Keep on them about the subject!!
Cute story about Charles Shauhnessy--(still don't know if I spelled his name right). I will always know him as Shane Donovan!! And yes, this Pin-cess had a big crush on him too!! Geesh, you guys are probably wondering who I haven't had a crush on. Always a school girl, I suppose. I'm jealous of Erin!!!
Have fun picking out your home away from home. :sunny:

Pozey---so nice of you to install a new faucet for Mrs. P. I sure she will be surprised!!
Has Colton prepared any of his strategies for his new role as Class President?? This is so cool!!

Ash--how'd the haircut go?? Do you have your wardrobe all set and ready to go?? One week, chica!!!!!! :cool1: :cheer2:

Lesa--oh my, what a day you had yesterday!! Hope it is going better today. How is Brittany's finger??

Lyzziesmom---I am so sorry to hear of your grandma's passing!! :grouphug: You have my deepest sympathy.:grouphug:
How is Lyzzie doing?? How traumatizing to see this!! That's terrible, but I am glad to hear that the woman is doing okay.
Sounds like Lyzzie and my mom share a birthday. Tomorrow, you say??
HAPPY BIRTHDAY LYZZIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Linda--corn burner?? Interesting. I have never heard of such a thing. What will they think of next?? (old soul, remember??)
Did Kenny win the soccer game?? He looks so cute in his little uniform. Hope you are enjoying the fair. Love, love, love funnel cakes!!

Pr. Pix----nope, no karaoke for me last night, but don't worry, I will be all tuned up (at least to my ears) by the time Feb. rolls around. It may not be pretty, but that's beside the point. :rolleyes1
Have fun at your BBQ, even if it rains. When is your next presentation??
Good luck on your job search. What kind of work do you do again?? Sorry if you already said. I know you are in nursing school but your job??

YM---see, porta potties----just one more reason this Pin-cess does not camp!!! ;)
Good wishes to DH. :cheer2: :cheer2:

Nicole---yummm, your own F&WF. Sounds delicious!!! Have fun!!

Hi Amber, April (where are you, girlie--we miss you!!), Angela-- :grouphug: hope you are feeling okay--we're thinking of you!!, and whoever I am forgetting--because I know I am.

Ciao!!

princess:

Hi everyone!!! Well we made it back from Six Flags!! DH's allergies were....well, making hime sick. We left by 5pm. The crowds weren't too unbearable, but pretty crowded for this time of year!! I'm so tired I can hardly keep my eyes open!!!!

2x2s::No, I didn't take 44. I always take the 255/270 bypass!! I certainly waved to the north as I passed Gravois!!(Since I really don't have that much of an idea where you live!!!) :rotfl2:

lyzziesmom::yeah!! You are connected to the internet again. :thumbsup2 Who really needs their marbles anyway!!! Tell Lyzzie Happy Birthday, but will send her a special geeting in the morning. ;)

YourMajesty::Before I started this post I saw a green light! :wave2: :wave2: Or were you just using the bathroom!! :rotfl2:

fizz13:: :welcome: I agree the Dis Rocks!!!! You are more than welcome to post here anytime!!

Jill::Did you get to go to the BBQ? If you did I hope you had fun!!

Ashley::Tell us about your hair, or better yet, post a picture!! 6 more days!!!

Nicole::the local Cheese and Wine Festival sounds really neat. This is near Houston, right? Not much longer until your Disney trip!!!

Well, better call Mom and let her know we made it home safely. Have a good evening!! :goodvibes

Oops...I may have blown my cover on the "camping campaign" :rolleyes1 princess:

Hello...hope everyone is having a good weekend. DH did great for his first marathon....4 hours and 15 minutes. I had a great seat on a bench watching all the finishers come in. They also had a half marathon and a 5K. I did feel a little guitly when I starting eating a Milky Way bar while all those fit people were laboring away...but all that clapping wore me out. :rolleyes1 :teeth:

DH is craving a milkshake so we are off :woohoo:

I'll catch up a bit later.

Congrats to your DH on his marathon!!! :cool1: Good for him!!

2x2...I can't shake this cold. I slept in til 8 this morning. Just vegged on the couch for a while and was back in bed, having never gotten dressed, at 1 for a 2 1/2 hour nap. Blake and I were going to go out tonight for our anniversary. :sad2: Didn't happen. He made mostacholli ( I know I spelled that wrong) We'll try again next weekend.

We went to the varsity game last night. We won :cheer2: but a kid from the other team had to be taken away in an ambulance. It seemed to take forever for it to get there :sad2: I will find out Monday at school but the rumor I heard was that the muscle had separated from the bone at his hip?!?! :earseek: I can't even imagine. It didn't even look like he was hit that hard. Anyway it was scary!! I didn't go to the game the week before, it was too far away plus I knew we would get creamed :rolleyes1 but at that game one of our players had to be taken away. Maybe I would be happier if Matt couldn't play :confused3

I'm headed back to bed now. So have a great night and I'll see everyone tomorrow

Jill - pixiedust: on the job hunt, and your presentation!

Michele - sorry to hear you're still suffering from your cold... yuk.

Linda - thanks for the education on corn burners! They actually sound really interesting and efficient. I'm surprised we haven't seen them here, but there's not a surplus of corn. Hay, maybe, but not even that this year with the drought we're having!

YM - how was DH's marathon? Enjoying your trip?

Donna - I agree, it sounds like six flags will have been packed today with Raven performing there. Hope it wasn't too bad on ya'll.

2xcited - so sorry to hear you're not feeling well this week. You're just always so upbeat here, and have so much to say and seem to have such a positive attitude! :grouphug: Hang in there, girl.

Donna - thanks for a fabulous bagel breakfast!
